I think there is a middle ground between the reaction after Leicester and today. Everton are awful and offered nothing. For me there is a big way to go with the system and the players we have signed.

Newcastle the litmus test
The litmus test is the whole season imo. Therefore I do agree with the idea of a middle ground.

I think today was better and Ange made subs earlier than last week which was what I cared about. It is a long season. Although we were battered by Newcastle last time our, I am optimistic that they’ll play more open which is what allows us to have a run at them.

There's the big difference in scoring your chances and making dominance count.

Loved seeing Kulusevski in the middle, thought he was great. And thought Odobert gave us something we've been lacking and really exciting.

Today we had a lot more ways of hurting the opponent, we weren't just relying on crosses. Really good, positive display.

Very true, a few random balls in behind, crosses, some shots from edge of the box, some pressing, some playing through the lines, some set pieces, we look well coached, because we are :)

Jesus can you not just enjoy a good performance and a comfortable win?
It's more difficult to do that when the "told you so" brigade make an appearance. Fact is it's just one game where we have won emphatically, which is ironic because the post he was replying to was aiming that "I told you so" at people who were critical of Monday, which again was just one game.

Let's give it a while shall we before we overreact in either direction. It was a good win today, just as it was badly dropped points on Monday.

Long way to go before we really know where we are.

We should have six points not four from these first two fixtures- on paper, and looking back on the start we gave ourselves on Monday.

Good performance yesterday so let’s enjoy that.

But in looking forward to next weekend I’m anxious about being bullied again by the Geordies.

We can’t play the same team up there, no passengers who don’t get stuck in. Hopefully Richarlison can be ready to start

I enjoyed the match yesterday, I guess that's what watching football is about, so for that I am thankful!

I enjoyed the attacking play from the wings. But I feel we still lack control of the midfield. When Biss left, I felt Romero had to bring the ball up more and he stood still for a longer time once he reached midfield, breaking the forward momentum.

He actually started over thinking his passes before Biss come off, but only once or twice it led to a problem.

Gray will move, and be willing to receive the ball under pressure, but I don’t think Sarr has the confidence in his first touch so tends to hide. Bergvall is simply a better option and I want to see him introduced before Sarr from now on, irrespective of opponent and scoreline

I really enjoyed yesterday, Odobert looked like a real difference maker to us and I thought Biss was back to his best.

It is just one game though. Everton look utterly woeful so I’m now hoping we look equally as good against the barcodes. Long way to go.

Good game, comfortable win. Should have been 7 or 8 but can’t complain.

loved watching Micky sprint 70 yards with the ball in the 77th minute

Wilson looked really good

If Ange can get Bissouma to be a productive member of the squad then that is a huge feather in his managerial cap.

I think he's dealt with it very well and hopefully yesterday was the first sign of that rubbing off on Biss.

Overall that is the sort of performance I want to see lots more of from us under Ange. Actual control of the game as well as that intensity.

I think it's hard to read too much into a performance like that against such a poor side, but if we can put teams like that to the sword it will be a step up from last season.

One improvement yesterday was a willingness to have a shot from outside the box.

I liked that and with Son in particular, it's something we should do more of - be a bit less predictable.

Yep, the next step is looking at those periods where we start playing a bit passively, stop moving for each other and fuck about at the back, start to eliminate that against the bottom half teams and we'll continue to kill them off and rack up points.

I agree with everything you have said. I guess ultimately, it’ll be down to the fans to support Ange and dare I say “trust the process”.
Levy will react to the fans feelings. If we repeat what we did last season, and there is no massive improvement in end result. Will we, as fans still support him or will we be back to singing Pochettino’s name?
This is a very good point! I don't think us fans will ever be more accountable than now.... Ange has shown enough in his style of football and general handling of the media to get the fans backing for the whole season.... Let's remember where the mentality of the our squad has been for years and years... That's not an easy fix... Minimum 2 years to see a the benefits of a process for a project of this size...COYS

Nice problem for Ange when Dom & Rod come back , which two drop out of the matchday squad based on yesterdays squad , will one of the two be Werner or Davies , or does he leave out one of the younger players like Lucas ?

So....is there space for Solanke, Son, Odobert, Kulusevski and Maddison all to play in the same side? Against opposition that can string two passes together?

Could be very potent if so, a much more enjoyable attacking performance yesterday albeit against opposition that did not look PL quality at all.

Lovely win. Much like early last season.
Our game plan seems very much, start at 100mph, get a couple of goals then see out the game. It actually reminds me a lot of Brendan Rogers’ Liverpool team. They did the same thing.
I think the variety in attack is HUGE as other have already pointed out.
If son, Mdders, Biss/Bents or Kulu get the ball outside the area then absolutely take a shot.
On to the next one.
Also, nice to see that Ange gave us a starting lineup that none of us predicted.

Yeah, you’d hope that Ange reacts quickly with substitutions when we hit that state.

Honestly think we should play Kulu and Madders for most games

Kulu is a strong lad and can defend from in there as well.
