I'm convinced he's told them not to shoot outside the box, I think he denied it in a press conference but he seems like a stats orientated guy and long shots are low percentage opportunities, it's fucking boring for supporters, but he really only cares about winning the most efficient way.

He needs to realise that varying your attacks would actually sow seeds of indecision into the defences we are trying to break down and create more chances in the zones he wishes to attack.

If I'm setting up a team to face us now I just tell my defenders to make sure we fall back and fill the zone we are attacking everytime because we won't threaten from anywhere else, this is why our games are full of blocks

Yea maybe not loads but Solanke had his header and shot both inside the box saved, Bentancur got in the box and had a shot saved, Johnson had a shot saved, we nearly scored from a few corners. Certainly enough chances to win the game.
The box was so congested all angles were tight. Hence why solanke went for power same for Rodrigo. Best solanke chance was his second header. He will do great for us just cannot see where our other goals come from in the team.

I'd also like to add that the reaction to an unlucky early season draw is akin to our reaction to our conceding of a goal this evening (truly pathetic), it seems that some of the stuff I expect to see in the cesspit known as Twitter has made it's way onto here sadly.

SC before Ange: I don't care about results, I want to see entertaining football

haha
100% this!

absolutely, after the absolute dross after poch last season, all I wanted to see was a team trying to win games, because that was painful as fuck to go through those years.

this, for me, is so much better to watch. Frustrating, because we didn’t win, but we didn’t lose either.

gonna be a fun and emotional season 😂

It's not surprising some of the same problems cropped up last night.

We started with a more or less unchanged first eleven, except for Solanke. We have not significantly strengthened the first team eleven with established players, yet. We have not addressed some of the fundamental issues on the wing.

Ange has had just a few weeks at best to work with most of the players this summer. We are going to have to be patient. Bergvall, Gray and Odobert may prove to be upgrades to the first team soon, but it will probably take them time to grow into the season.

That’s a fundamental aspect of the Ange style of football. I want to see more of it and see if we can get it to fire. Tweaking with the right players (effective wide players) will help.

I do get the concern that it doesn’t take much for the whole team to open up completely and the defence to look lost, even against the most clueless teams.

Got to give it this season at least.

I think we created enough chances last night to win two games.

Lets be honest, we should of won that easily last night hence the immense frustration.

3/4-1 would of been a fair reflection of the game.

Created so many dangerous attacking situations, but our final ball/decision making was extraordinarily poor.

Hopefully this clicks (starting Saturday) and we'll build that collective confidence.

Still a big concern, how we seem prone to crumbling under the first sign of pressure.

I think Ange needs to be more realistic in his approach playing away from home, sometimes you have to be good at soaking up pressure staying compact and organised, taking the sting out of the game.

That was a classic first game of the season for me. We were absolutely destroying them and but for a bit of match sharpness we'd have scored more.

One sloppy moment and we concede.

We're signing players, some of the young signings look good and we have wing options and Richy regaining fitness.

Solanke did well for his first game with the team and will only improve.

Disappointed not to win but the one touch football was a great watch.

Pretty sure his tactics don't include Romero walking past Vardy and moving to mark someone already marked. Cut out stupid mistakes by the players and be more clinical and we will be fine

I think we should give it more than this season.

Its absolutely pointless getting rid of him mid way or at end of the season to start this whole cycle of management, a new project, new players again… it’s just rinse/repeat of forever.

give the bloke another 3 years, of building and philosophy and I’m positive we will start to challenge.

absolutely the worse thing to do is change manager again, unless we end up in a relegation battle again, which we won’t.

Let's face it, we can go in on Ange or the lack of quality wingers or not being clinical etc..

But the real problem is we are soft. Weak minded players who are very good at being 'nice' and saying 'bro' and giving each other cool handshakes and great media messages but when the going gets tough they go missing.

We are missing some bollocks out there. Every winning team has leaders and our leaders are Son and Maddison, we are the same as we've always been - soft.

If we want to win we need to have a winning mentality, that means leaving your heart out on the pitch.

Richalrison, hopefully Bergval, Porro, VDV and perhaps a few others do this. Let's face it though we're lacking in fight.

Look at Vardy today, he looked like he wanted to kill everyone and fought his ass off. That's the mentality we need.

Shit gets tough, we play well and things go against us, but we fight. That mentality doesn't come from pressing stats and what percentage of forward passes you do, it comes from the heart. It's not a bean counters game, it's a game where heart is important.

We need to understand that if we're to actually do anything of worth this season.
To be fair we had a lot of our fans upset that Vicario shouted at a young player after a fuck up.

the mentality runs through the club.

real lack of fight and desire to win from top to bottom. (This isn't really the fans fault though)

to be honest it has always been this way barring a little spell under Poch but even then when push came to shove we folded.

it can only be a curse. :cautious:

It felt like we were trying too hard to play in solanke, imo.

Overplaying at times. Also, id wish players would shoot from outside the box. Son had a great opportunity to do so in the first half, but opted to playing maddison.

He was right to shout at him. He was overplaying, and got caught in possession.

Yep, we need the players to hold each other accountable and create some sort of standards.

different game and different type of people these days but to create a winning machine you need the players to not accept or be content with mistakes like the Fergie era Utd.

for too long our players just shrug as if shit happens.
