Best thing the fans can do now is show big support to Ange and the team against SU on the last day to see us over the line in 5th.

Best thing Ange and the team can do now is reflect on how shit yesterday felt and make a huge push from now to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Best way to do that is give the fans something to believe in over the course of the whole season. We need to be fighting for trophies next season.

Ange has sorted the set pieces out if you actually see how we've defended them in the last couple of games. Didn't concede from one last night either.
until we started not conceding from SP in a majority of our games, i'll hold judgement on if we have improved

Thats hardly a winning mentality is it?

(Rhetorical)
It's more a be careful what you wish for.

I just don't get this notion of we don't want a certain competition because we're not ready for it? Relish the challenge, I bet Villa are now because I don't they're ready for it. Doubt they're saying they'd rather Europa for another year are they?

I think people on both sides are reading too much into the post match comments. It’s clear that Ange hadn’t thought through what he said and was emotional as he was being deliberately vague and stumbling around when pressed for more detail and just said that’s up to you to figure out or something.

Could he have handled it better? Yes, was it the worst thing in the world, no. I think he’ll walk it back a little bit as whether you agree with him or not it’s never a good idea to go after fans especially when they’re not that important in the grand scheme of things.

The most stupid part of his comment was the “fragile foundations” bit. I mean, he was obviously being deliberately vague for a reason and we don’t know he was talking about the fans but it’s fair to assume he was but he also made a good comment by saying it’s up to him to change it which he’s 100% correct on. The most annoying thing about his comments is that most people just want to draw a line under this game and move on but now the divide in the fans is stronger than before the game and has us fighting amongst each other and he has to hold his hands up there. Like I say, I think he might walk back those comments a bit.

I'm sorry, but is this actually something that factors into how people view a match? Genuinely, this is remarkable to me, that people would be so focused on 'social cred' vs. wanting to watch good football and wanting their team to win? Surely you can be civil with other fans, applaud great football, have it reciprocated in kind and then denigrate and laugh together about terrible performances?
Im struggling to even take this seriously.
It's almost like you watch football from where the Teletubbies live, when in reality it's closer to that cold northern place in Game Of Thrones.

I like the cold.

Can someone update me. I saw a snippet of the Ange interview after the game. It seemed to allude to some trouble behind the scenes. Is that so? If so what barriers is he facing? Is it to do with transfers in and out or just a moan about the strange attitudes around this particular game?

Ah, in terns of what the team has let slip through their hands in recent weeks.

Guess so.
Stop being deliberately obtuse Pink. You know exactly what I'm saying. Fans want EL because it's "easier" and we're not ready for the CL. Newcastle weren't ready, Villa aren't ready. Do you think they cared about that or actually wanted to be in it regardless?

It's not even a guarantee we're in it, let alone winning it outright. We were favourites for the conference league and stuffed that up. We never do well in easier comps as favourites.

Only if CL is everything. A lot of people myself included feel that EL is better for where the squad is at the moment.

People say this but I can’t remember a time when being in the Europa was better for us than being in the Champions League.

I can’t ever remember us having fantastic seasons in the Europa or developing lots of great young players in the tournament.

People mention Kane but let’s be honest he’s one of the greatest players to play for the club. Do people honestly believe he wouldn’t have made it without those Europa League matches? He’s just a special player. What other players have we developed through the tournament?

Being in Europe is better than not being in Europe but there’s little or no evidence that being in the Europa is better for us than being in the Champions League.

Its all good saying how much you wanna win but how about you actually start winning some of these big games then Ange. we had 2 hilarious shots on target against Chelsea, nothing on target in 45m against arsenal... unacceptable

I didn't watch the entire game on Sunday but I assume the old Trafford faithful stood in their dilapidated stadium, piss wet through cheering Arsenal on? I also assume they were all delighted and over joyed when they lost the game because it dented city's title hopes?
Let’s face it City are irrelevant really, they win it every year by cheating, if they were playing a team to assist Liverpool win the league in front of fans for 30+ years may have seen something completely different.

I don’t want to hear any discontent from that side of our fanbase when we don’t secure certain players now.

I think this is mainly what it comes down to, but I think it’s wishful thinking. We have twenty years of evidence which suggests otherwise but we always go into the Europa assuming we’ll win it.

Truth is we haven’t even got past the quarters and usually we go out even before then.

Some of the comments tonight and actions by our "fans" are embarrassing. Celebrating losing, doing the Poznan, getting annoyed at Ange because he is basically calling out the fanbase for not supporting the team but rather wanting to see a rival fail.

We could have still been in with a shout of top 4 making it a more successful season for us but some "fans" would rather focus on our rivals positon instead. Its such a small club mentality, we whinge at our players for not having a fighting/winning mentality but look at the state of some of you lot.

Im glad Ange is angry and he isnt wrong at all. Im convinced he is the right man to change us but the fans need to change too.
Pretty sure the fans at Stamford bridge were singing their hearts out.

mSo were the ones at Newcastle

Yeah one thing that people overlook is that this is arsenals first title in 20years. If City hadn’t won a league in 20 years you probably see a lot more UTD fans cheering Arsenal (or just being quiet)

Thos notion that we are significantly different to any other set of fans is laughable really outside of your cities who win every year we are all fragile, we’re all fickle. UTD had the biggest winning mentality going and guess what, when they started losing all the time they lost it. If Arsenal start losing games next season, they’ll show their fragility etc etc

I think we should all respect whatever anyone elses stance/feeling was last night.

Bar cheering for City, and that muppet behind the dug out who isnt representative of the fan base, I dont see what the problem is.

A strong mentality as a Club should exude a reasonable understanding from both points of view, not dividing the fan base and infighting.
