So if Villa lose tonight, and we beat City, we will be just a point behind them. Anyone still want us to lose v city? Its about our progression and nothing to do with Arsenal

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I really don't understand the mentality of wanting to lose to City. I don't want to see Arsenal win the title but I never want us to lose. I want us to beat City. I want us to start having the mentality of a big club.

The difference here, for me, is all about silver linings! But a win would make a statement.... But in reality, I think that's a tall order on current form.

I think that it's a tall order too. I'm sure though that when the match starts, the attitude of the fans will be wanting us to get the 3 points. Stuff Arsenal, we're wanting a result for us. At the end of the day, if city don't win the title then that's on them.

Fans should never want to lose. Aside from that would you really want City to win the title over Arsenal? I get the local rivalry, history and all that but City and their ownership is a threat to football in itself just like Newcastle and PSG. IMO all football fans should put the future of the game over everything else. If Arsenal wins the league it will taste even sweeter when we beat them next season. If City wins it nothing changes - it’ll be bland and sad.

Honestly people saying we should throw the game with City seem to still have the mentality that has held us back for decades. We want to go into every game to win which ever way we can. I couldn’t care less if Arsenal win the title, means nothing to me.

So a NLD means nothing to you? Playing Arsenal is akin to playing Kilmarnock or some shit?

i think it depends on where you live/or born ?
So many supporters are not local to their team and don’t always get the rivalry.
Never the less you should always want your team to win.

Agree totally. It's just that even in losing, the turd will have a whiff of roses in this case.

Not excactly what the poster said, was it?
He said arsenal winning the title means nothing to him. That heavily implies that Arsenal, in general, mean nothing to him so, by extension, a NLD means nothing to him.

Or it could mean that he doesn’t want to give them any attention aside from when they play us

No it doesn't. I don't care about them winning the league, but I do hate them. I just care about us winning more and it doesn't bother me what it does for others as a consequence.

He could but then that wasn’t what he said. He said Arsenal winning the title means nothing to him. Obviously fair enough if that how he feels but a weird one imo.
