Coaching team definitely needs improving and some experience in there. Not sure Jedinak is the man.

Over the last few years we’ve heard ‘we need to build from the back’ in response to us needing a new defence. We’ve now finally got:

A decent keeper
A decent right back
2 potential world class centre backs
1 very promising centre back
1 potential world class left back

Yet our defence looks a complete shambles due to our suicidal tactics.

You would think now that we’ve got a very good first XI set of defenders that this would be a foundation to build on. Keep it solid at the back, get the best out of our currently available full set of central midfielders and make the most of our limited attacking options.

Instead Ange looks to have a scattergun approach, trying to apply band aids here there any everywhere without consolidating and making the most of the players currently available to him. Sure he wants them to play a certain style of football but if we don’t have the players to do it, all you’re going to do is damage the player’s confidence and expose their weaknesses for the rest of the league to see and take advantage of.

Potential is great, but it's potential. And most of our first-choice defenders are very young and playing their first full season in the Premier League. And they are also playing their first season together as a unit.

Udogie =21 (first full PL season)
Dragusin= 22 (first full PL season)
van de ven = 23 (first full PL season)
Porro = 24 (first full PL season)
Romero = 26
Vicario 27 (first full PL season)

So basically you've got 4 or 5 guys, the majority of whom have never played together before, the majority of whom have never played in the league before ,the majority of whom are under 25.

It's all very well saying what great potential these guys have, but those are the facts. I can't recall a recent situation with so many new and young defenders being integrated at the same time.

We’ll never win anything again if we continue our approach of oh it’s Liverpool, City and co… let’s not turn up.

Look at Palace - absolutely woeful pre the new manager. They’ve the same crap defence and midfield but now they’re defending as a team and picking up some very good results. Whereas we’ve better players but most of the squad are playing like rabbits in headlights.

They’re not miraculously going to be any better next season. Regardless of whether we bring in 2-3 quality first team players, we’re still going to have the same riff raff who can’t be relied upon. Our squad needs a major overhaul, granted it can’t be all done in one window but you’re talking 10 plus players out and 10 in. Unless we may some major improvements in the summer we’ll be no better next season.

Just explaining my reasoning here.

All games should be important but at this stage of the season only the Burnley and Sheffield results truly matter, it could’ve been any two teams (for the Liverpool/City games) but I would still say the same. We can’t let emotions control the fan base this late in the season where things are basically decided already. The only thing we can influence now is the title race, unless Villa have a monumental failure in their last 3 games.

The rest is all spot on and I agree with you, this team has needed gutting for years already.

Everything you've said is correct but I don't think the players abilities are the problem. I think it's more their belief and bravery. They all have the ability to carry out Ange's approach the way he wants to but they are scared at the moment. They get the ball in really good positions high and wide and instead of running at the full back they opt to pass it back inside and recycle the ball safely. Every match I watch I'm thinking "yes son, go at him. Yes Deki you got your fullback beat" but seconds later the foot goes on the top of the ball and it goes backwards. The defence stacks up and then we're back to square 1. And when the winger doesn't go at the defender, the pass doesn't come into the box, the striker doesn't make his run, everything becomes static.

That's the lack of self belief I think Ange is referring to. Each of these players can already execute the way they should be they are second guessing themselves
Yes.

That's probably more accurate as they do have qualities and to do it consistently you need bravery.

I was watching Doku yesterday and he was constantly trying to put his defender on the back foot and make himself unpredictable by doing feints, rolls etc

Our players seem to need 1-2 touches and get set before they even start trying to shift the ball so they need to have that instinct as soon as the ball comes to them and that does come from bravery/mentality

But I do think there are some technical limitations too

Which leads me to the point that I think we need to be wary of signing players who play in systems with very rigid patterns or functions because the player may have had the instant coached out of them and it may be why we struggle a bit now as Conte does not want freedom in hos players

So another summer, another transfer window signing players to suit the coaches system that will probably change again by next summer?

Well, we've apparently decided on a club identity about how we play.
Even if Ange goes we will hire a manager that play somewhat similar football.
If you believe the word from the club. Guess the inverted full back we do atm would change, but we'd still look at a 433 variation and someone who keep the ball in the team and prefer to attack.

Feels like his comments about not caring about 4th, have hit home with the players.
Last few weeks have been awful & if we’re honest, so has this calendar year.

Is Lo Celso banging his daughter or something? How are we not even trying to do something a bit different by giving the lad some minutes

Today's selection is more trying to do something different than it would have been to play Lo Celso.

Most relevant bit

Ange Postecoglou has warned his Tottenham squad “change has to happen” before a busy summer in which the club will listen to offers for a host of players including striker Richarlison.

As well as Richarlison, Spurs are prepared to cash in on the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Emerson Royal as Postecoglou plots the next phase of his rebuild.

Sources insist midfielder Yves Bissouma will not be among those who will effectively be up for sale this summer, but an attractive bid for the midfielder would leave the club with a decision to make.

I think he's one of the ones that can play the system.

Anyone can see we’re getting shredded down our left but he’s done fuck all about it.
Either a midfielder or preferably Johnson should be tracking back and helping Royal.
Shocking. Absolutely shocking.
He has to wise up and fast.

For him to go from where he was in November to where he is now is almost unthinkable. An improbable fall from grace.

For any team except Spurs of course…

Other teams have worked it out and he won’t change. Simple as that. We’re not very difficult to play against at all

We’ve been figured out. The definition of madness is to keep doing the same thing whilst expecting different results.

Ange needs to adjust his tactics or we could well be looking for a new manager towards the end of the year

Shocking at the back and completely toothless going forward. We don’t even seem to be benefitting upfront with all the risks we constantly take at the back.
