I thought people were taking the piss when they said Arteta should win it for beating City...
If Postecoglou hadn’t won it the first 2 months it’d be his. I’d say they’d use the City win as an excuse not to keep awarding it to him.

Love this and love the sound of Gabbiadini, shame he is leaving.

Today's presser for me showed what sets managers like Ange and dare I say it Klopp etc apart from the likes of Jose, Conte etc.

Jose and Conte are good managers and their CV's don't lie however they tend to need pretty large transfer budgets, tend to focus on older more experienced signings and often end up leaving clubs in a worse state than when they joined which needs a good amount of time and change to rectify.

Winning anything in any sport isn't 'easy' and what Jose did with Porto was amazing to be fair but aside from that he and Conte have won with teams stacked full of talent and quality which most half decent managers would struggle to do badly with or not win with, tactically they're ok but their football and man management is outdated.

Then you have the likes of Ange, Klopp, Eddie Howe heck even Harry Redknapp etc who don't need or even want huge huge budgets but understand that as Ange said today the two keys so success are finding players of the right character and creating the right chemistry and balance within the team and squad. Even Pep who has of course been blessed with a lot of money and riches understands that the characters of the players he has is so important, hence why like Ferguson and Cluff etc they get rid of star or big name players at the right times for the good of the overall team balance and spirit.

Real Madrid Galactico's approach and Chelsea's £1bil recent spend approach show that just splashing tons and tons of cash doesn't work.

Aside from Van Dijk and Allison, Klopp spent fairly modestly to build up that incredible Liverpool team he had a few seasons back, Eddie Howe has build a side with the likes of Nick Pope, Dan Burn, Sean Longstaff, Callum Wilson etc and taken them to the Champions League, I personally find these achievements so impressive and they say a lot about these managers emotional intelligence and understanding the importance of finding the right personalities rather than just the 'best players'.

MOTM has to be on who has achieved the best that month. Only Ange has won every game. Now if we had drawn with Luton for example then the record would be the same as all off the other candidates. That’s the stage when you have to look at circumstances like Goals scored, who they played etc. beating City isnt enough if you drop points elsewhere when you are expected to win.
