We play Ipswich and City before an FA Cup weekend, meaning we don't have any game directly before the next EL tie.

We have Bournemouth in between, followed by Fulham.

Then 2 weeks off before we play Chelsea which is not followed by a EL game but is a PL game against Southampton.

We should absolutely be able to prioritise each and every game until then.

Get players back, be smart with load but make sure we have enough in the tank for that EL double header. Which we should so with the spaces between.

We should definitely be aiming to get back into the top 8 as well as win EL.
We play Chelsea after an International break.

If we got to the EL Final, assuming no games are moved due tto the opposition playing in the FA Cup, we would:

- Play Ipswich and City in the same week,
- Then 8 days until EL "Round of 16 first leg" but then 3 games in 10 days.
- Then international break, but we don't play the following Saturday as usual, we play Chelsea on Wednesday after, so a short "rest".
- Chelsea is the first of 6 games in 17 days.
- Then we get a 1 game week with Liverpool being 7 days after Forest.
- Liverpool is the first of 5 games in 15 days.
- Then we get a 1 game week with Villa being 7 days after Palace.
- Villa is the first of 3 games in 7 days.

TLDR:
Excluding the International break, if we make the EL final, we only have 3 weeks from the Ipswich game, where we don't have 2 game weeks, the week before our next EL game, the week before Liverpool and the week before Villa.

I think what I was trying to get at was that we are not in a situation where we have dozen injuries and a packed schedule.

It's kinda less intense then intense then less intense then intense again. Means we should be able to split game time in these next two games, make sure players all get minutes but no one is over exerted.

Then, say the second leg of EL is tight, we can push players a bit more. Then rest up in the PL if needed. But for the majority of the time we should be able to field a strong team whilst not over exerting players.

If, and it’s a big if, we won EL, it would be a far easier and less expensive option for Levy to keep Ange. The mood would be lifted around the club, and he’d have some breathing space. For him to jump in then and sack the manager who just won us a European title, would be suicide. Also, Poch can stay with The USA team and ride that out until November to see if Ange’s fortunes stick, or if we see a repeat of this season.

If he wins the Europa League, he’s not getting fired. I know some have made up their minds and they feel like it’ll never work out, but if he brings a substantial trophy and along with it CL Qualification in the midst of an injury-ravaged season, he’s here come the start of next season, without a doubt.

And that’s probably the right approach, given the circumstances. In addition to that, they’ll probably be thinking if they can improve on the medical/physio team, keeping more players fit longer to play this system will lead to more success, as opposed to the uncertainty around making a switch at manager.

There are only 2 scenarios that would persuade me to keep him:
1. Win Europa
2. Qualified for Europe
If he can't get one of them, then he should be gone

This is worth a listen. Jon Mackenzie from athletic is on around 43/44th min for half an hour talking about Anges tactical approach both in & out of possession and mostly our pressing.

Now we have players coming back I hope he plays Spence at RB and Archie Gray in CM. They have both stood up playing out of position and deserve the trust to see what they can do in their natural roles

I would add that if we go on a really good run in the league (25 plus points from our remaining games) then that would be enough for me as well. Although I must admit this would be tested a bit if we crashed out of the next round of the Europa.

I wish I could afford therapy because I certainly need it!🤣

(I should probably steer clear of really strong cider too).

You do know that you are the only one seeing these 'zond' posts you are refering to right. Everyone has else is just playing along with your Tyler durden-esque breakdown.

There is no zond

That therapy can't come quick enough.

The thing with the winning the trophy thing.

I believe a team can win a league cup without doing anything particularly well. You play a couple of weaker teams or your Prem opponents rest a few and on occasion you can win the cup without really performing. I doubt many of us think we should have stuck with Graham or Ramos.

But to win the EL, you need to perform over a period of time and by the last stages you are going to play some good teams who see the competition as their main priority.

If we'd won the league cup this season, I think there could still be a strong argument for Ange to go if other performances aren't so good. If we win the EL, chances are we've performed well enough to keep with him for next season.

I came hear to post the same thing. A really interesting discussion about Ange.

I don’t think he’s the right man long term, but obviously if he wins the EL he stays, and we celebrate a glorious victory. I think the chances of it happening are very slim though.

Some here need to realize that we had been poor since the 11th game last season, long before the injury crisis
And some people need to realise we were 6th when Vic went down (the start of the real crisis without our CBs and GK) with an elite GD.

Now I know what the response is to this, which is really my point. This is just the same conversation we’ve had a thousand times. We aren’t sacking Ange now, so let’s see how his tactics develop over the rest of the season and how he goes with more players available then see where we are.

Is it that mad to think Ange isn't right long term even if he wins Europa League? Juande Ramos won the league cup and I wasn't a fan of his. Ten Hag won two cups at United and wasn't deemed a good manager for them long term.

What's the 3 bullet summary?!
"Naive" press at this level and has concerns whether such a press can be successful in this League

Poor chance creation from open play

Acknowledges that injury has played a part in performances/results but overall thinks there is a reason no one else plays like we do, it can't be sustained over a 50 game season as players need to be at peak physical condition for whole of season which can't be done and if he doesn't adapt little faith it will come good
