What are your thoughts on Farioli? Ajax finished 5th last season, 35 points behind PSV. He currently has them 2nd, 1 point behind and they're doing okay in the EL with pretty much the same squad.
Interesting manager. De Zerbi’s old assistant and it shows. I think I mentioned him in the Guessand thread. He has a liking for inverted fullbacks… 😂.

I do think he looks a very promising tbf, nicely balanced possession manager and only 35. I wouldn’t suggest him for us at this point yet tho but certainly one to watch for the future.

I havent kept up, but are we still doing the long drawn out autopsy of tottenham under ange 😅
We’ve done that, heard about the powers that be’s view on Ange and that he wants to keep him but the consensus is even then Ange is fucked unless we get some signings.

We’ve already determined that obviously they’re not going to make any signings so are now discussing replacements.

Xg is absolutely pointless, there is not one game we lost that we deserved to win, probably deserved 2 draws v Newcastle
I agree with the sentiment but alot of our matches would have gone differently if we finished our chances imo

The Everton match, if son buries his chance early on, I think Everton struggle and dont gain in confidence like they did, after they scored their first

Shit Nottingham match, imo if Johnson scores his chance, we win that match. They didn't do much outside of the goal

Even the Chelsea match if we score when we were 2-1 up to make 3-1 after the half, that match goes a different way

Good question. Players over the age of 21 currently registered in the PL squad (25 total allowed, no more than 17 non-HG).

HG 9:
Brandon Austin, Ben Davies, Fraser Forster, Brennan Johnson, James Maddison, Max Robson, Dominic Solanke, Djed Spence, Alfie Whiteman

Non-HG: 14
Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Radu Dragusin, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Pedro Porro, Sergio Reguilon, Cristian Romero, Pape Matar Sarr, Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario, Timo Werner

So 23. That gives us two more free hits to bring in either a HG or non-HG player, effectively three since we are over strength for HG and could just omit Robson. If we bring in one more, which seems unlikely, someone has to be omitted, presumably Whiteman or if we exceed the non-HG limit, Reguilon.

Kinsky is U21, as are Gray, Bergvall, Moore, Odobert. Obviously if we bring in another U21 that's not a problem for the PL squad.

Much tighter for the Europa squad, where 4 of the HG players need to be club trained, and U21s who have been at the club less than two years need to be registered on the A list. So Gray HG, Bergvall and Odobert non-HG. Which means we are already unable to register Spence or Reguilon without leaving someone out, and someone (presumably Forster) will have to make way for Kinsky.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I know there was some juggling needed in the summer and was wondering if it might be causing problems now.

Makes no sense. All things being equal Liverpool win 9 times out of 10.
I am not sure that is true - and we don't need to beat Liverpool to advance.

If we play well, we are capable of getting a draw - and even a win. Liverpool are not actually playing their best football at the moment.

So, until they beat us by 2 goals, I prefer to stay positive about our chances.

We win four times out of X, where X equals the number of times since the Titanic sank but as mentioned a draw is good enough after 90 minutes but I would prefer another TeddyJurgen combo or even a John Scales style win …..

Oh yeah you did. He seems to be a less crazy version of De Zerbi. What I like about his set up is the press, it's a lot more coordinated.

Agree, it's too early now but if somehow Ange gets to the end of the season he'll probably be on the list. I'm sure Paratici will recommend him.

yep, and most people like always want the manager gone after he inevitably start to strugle.
My therapy is to watch Conte's last presser and come to terms that nothing will change until there is a shift in the clubs direction.

When they talk the talk and spend a lot on quality players and we still end up like this, then we can blame the manager. Said it before, the Pochetino era when those stars aligned was a one of, we will not see that in a long time with our current wage/transfer policy
1 lucky Harry kane free kick kept him in a job that time btw.

After Jose’s dismissal, the thinking has to be they can’t pull the rug out while they’re in the middle of a cup semi-final. If they make it through the next off-ramp must be the final.

Maybe instead of sacking and starting a new 18 month cycle we keep him and do another 18 month cycle anyway. So this is like the first window under a new manager and we're not backing him. Just tell the players we changed manager and get Ange to wear a fake beard and glasses. We get the new manager bounce with the same end result but don't have to do a new manager thread.

I didnt read the bulk of the story, and skipped to the end.

Turns out daniel levy did it.....🧐

Well precisely, you can't judge on that result, Leicester at home yes, Liverpool away err no.
There's definitely an element of the Jose factor though. After all the talk of sacking Jose before the final, Levy will be very reluctant to sack Ange while 1-0 up halfway through a semi-final. He may feel (and this argument carries some weight with me too) that he deserves the chance to see if he can get through that semi-final.

I thought this was 08/09 all over again, but I realise now that this is more like 03/04 or even 97/98.

This going to get worse, irrespective of who's in charge, and might not get better.

I don't want to hyperbowl but, I get the feeling we could get relegated, if not now, then within a few years, ala missed the drop in 75 and then got relegated in 77.

I understand people want a new manager but that's not gonna change a thing. Even super star signings won't either.

We need new owners and nothing else in my view.

Teams have missed plenty of big chances against us too. This feels slightly like selective memory to me.

Guys abd Girls, we could not beat Tamworth in 90 minutes, 30 points out of the last 90 and a chairman who always leaves us short - this transfer window is becming a classic example 😢

All of a sudden with no European football and a few signings we are challenging for the CL ..........
I mean it definitely can change that quickly. We’ve got a lot of talent in the squad and the younger players are going to get better. We played Ipswich in mid-November and with a win we go 3rd. We’ve had a disastrous 2 months, pretty much everything has gone wrong but we have a lot of upside if it goes right
