Which maybe shows that all the "he should be playing Dorrington" shouts were wide of the mark?
Alfie has been out for a long time and hasn't managed many games this season, maybe 6 or 7?

So while I think "20%" is bollocks, there's every chance that he's a fair way off being match fit but it's completely understandable.
makes you wonder why he kept making the bench for most games. I know we havent had much to choose from, but that would show Levy how light we are if we only put a few on the bench for a game.

Yep and we knew that at the time.
Sadly, it seems that Daniel has very think skin and an unerring belief that he knows what's he's doing.
He doesn't but if he isn't going to take the hint from someone like Conte, what hope do we have?

If he's hired Ange to change the culture on the playing side then he might well have taken some of his outburst on board into account, coupled with the experience of early Poch years when manager was backed over players.

But how do you get match fit? You either drop down to the U21s or you start against Tamworth and come on as sub against Everton: the difference between Moore verses Lankshear and Dorrington, the latter did nothing wrong against the Saints.

It frustrates me so much when Ange doesn’t use his full quota of subs, especially when we are losing and senior players are running on empty.
He'd only played a few U21 games before being put on the senior bench and I reckon he was only there for experience and to make up the numbers, he wasn't ready to play.

Let's face it, we've had Byfield, Olusesi and Hardy on the bench recently but that doesn't mean they're ready to play at that level.

Lankshear I'm not sure about but the fact that he appears to be set for a loan would also suggest that he's not quite ready yet.

Moore is different gravy to anything we've had out of the academy since forever, so he's not really a fair comparison.

Same as taking Walcott to a big tournament for England?
To give him experience and let him know that he's in our plans going forward.
And as you say, we were struggling to fill the bench.

Thanks for the info mate. What is his go to formation? or does he adapt to the team he is playing against?
He’s very adaptable and fluid, but usually it’s some form of 433 or 343. But it can also be a 4141. Kinsky would be absolutely perfect for him because he likes his GK to step up a little and almost be part of the back line in possession.

If it gets to a point where we start really looking at managers I’ll do a longer write up about him but honestly there is a lot to like. He always talks about the need to evolve and learn. Also worth pointing out he brought Rayo up which was one of Iraola’s big achievements in the job he had right before Bournemouth.

i know the narrative is that we had a good first 10 games under ange and have been shit ever since but if you look at last season, from gameweek 16 to 32 we actually won 10, drew 3 and lost 3, so a ppg of 2.06 which is top 3/4 form. this idea that nothing improved after the players came back from the first round of injuries isn't really accurate, that run just gets forgotten about because of the poor results at the end of the season.
I actually genuinely didn’t realise we had done so well in that period. The PPG of 1.07 in all games since then has massively clouded my thinking.

Tom Barclay reporting he's safe till the semi final second leg

See how many more hamstrings he can kill before then 😂

Imagine your job resting on an away trip to a ground we’ve not won at for over a decade, facing the league’s most dangerous team with a squad full of teenagers and half-fit want-aways.

You got this, Ange

*no, we won’t set up for a draw

Underlying stats were more than decent at the beginning of this season too when we had the gang together (results weren’t perfect but we were playing well).

Really hope he gets through these next games and we start to get some players back and some new signings.

What are your thoughts on Farioli? Ajax finished 5th last season, 35 points behind PSV. He currently has them 2nd, 1 point behind and they're doing okay in the EL with pretty much the same squad.

Well said. Also because we expected to be flying like in the first 10 games once the key players came back and we didn't hit those heights again.

Also, one of the reasons we were poor at the end of the season? Stacks of injuries.

This season we have been very good according to xg or expected points:

If we finished our chances, we would be 5th.

Personally I think defensively our coaching has been so shit Ange is at fault here.

We literally play the other team onside at least 2 or 3 times a match for a big chance

We went 4th after smashing Villa away with Timo scoring!
So that was when I first started thinking that Ange wasn’t the chosen one. It seemed like it was almost impossible for us not to finish in the top 4 after the start we made last season, but it felt like we just allowed other teams to take over. Then him taking umbridge at the audacity of fans accepting a loss against City because he wants to win every match triggered me because of the collapse we’d been witnessing for those last few months, and I’ve not really recovered to be honest.
Those 2 events, on top of watching us set up the same for every game and expecting a different outcome back in those days, completely alienated him to me.
I’ve had some moments of slightly being swayed this season, but it quickly reverts back.

Xg is absolutely pointless, there is not one game we lost that we deserved to win, probably deserved 2 draws v Newcastle
