We could get relegated and people would still say 'I am Ange in.' The reasons to keep him are dwindling each week. If we go out of the cup against Liverpool then it will be interesting to see how much backing he still has with the board. I never wanted it to get to this stage and I was hoping Ange would be successful but this is only going one way and the lack of movement in the transfer window is making it all feel worse and they are sacrificing him even further imo.

Get what players in, though? I get the impression people want top drawer players in now.
Players that will improve the squad? Surely we have a list of players that would improve each position.

Identify the position, identify players that fit our criteria, rank said players in order of preference. If we had to pay an extra 5 million for a player that we think is the right fit, and helps because of the situation we are in then get it done.

That’s not stopped them before but I take your point. More heat on them now for sure. What about anyone else? Any reason why they haven’t either or are they all constrained by PSR?

Man Utd are really constrained apparently and Newcastle were to an extent.

I think United definitely are and that's why we're hearing stories of Mainoo, Garnacho and Rashford (all academy products and hence pure profit) being available for sale.

It's alright mate your opinion is allowed to change over time especially when there's more information available the longer it goes on.
About a month ago my opinion was the same, while I didn't think he was the one I didn't think it was worth sacking him. That has changed for me because the results are still awful but it's the performances that have gotten even worse so I just don't see much of an alternative other than sacking him to try and make sure we aren't looking over our shoulders for rest of season.
People will rightly say that we are in 3 cup competitions but you can't switch on and off form, IMO we will get beaten by Liverpool in 2nd leg, if we somehow get by villa a better team will knock us out in fa cup and we'll get well beaten in EL against the first proper team we play in knock out just like Gala did to us.
Erm that is absolutely not how the internet works mate, you have to die on your initial position even if you don't actually believe it anymore.

I agree. Hopefully we are doing that and we’ll see another 1 or 2 come in.

I’ve been saying this situation is like Gerrard at Villa. Absolutely disgracing himself and driving a squad that should be nowhere near the bottom 3 into a relegation fight. Entire reputation is based on his success at Celtic when Rangers imploded both seasons he was there so of course he ran away with it. Even with that I don’t think we’d have gone near him if not for him being a cheap CAA Base option.

I sincerely believe as soon as we get rid of him and bring in a competent manager - who doesn’t persist with tactics that are patently ineffective - we will improve to such an extent it will put beyond doubt that Ange is completely incompetent and out of his depth, much like what happened with Emery taking over after Gerrard.

Once he’s gone he’ll be off to some backwater league because decision makers in football will be watching this thinking it’s lunacy to appoint him after this.
Please!

Bad managers don't have a win record over decades like his, regardless of the league they competed in.

If we sacked him there would be teams scrambling to get him. They'd look at his time at spurs, the incredible results at times with a patchwork squad with decades of underinvestment and take a view. He'd be managing at the level of Seville, Marseille, Roma within weeks of leaving us. It wouldn't surprise me if he did better than that.

Those teams and the rest of the football world can take a view.

There is no inconsistency if we are shit all the time.

It's small time to accept failure and not be pro active to change a downward spiral.

The plan should be for the club and not the manager as the club will always be here where as managers come and go!

Our transfer strategy highlights we have no backbone.
We aren’t shit all the time.

Are we shit all the time?

Were Man U small time for sticking with Ferguson?

Our transfer strategy is currently to buy outstanding talent that fits the system. Or are you saying that Solanke, Bergvall, Gray, VDV, Kinsky are shit?
Honest question, how long do we give it before deciding he is not the one to back?

See I understand completely that to achieve something we will have to at some point stick rather than twist, but is that with any manager?

For me Ange is the wrong one to get behind. There have been no signs of progression for me in 18 months, and if anything from an attacking pov we've got worse. I accept there are mitigating circumstances with injuries but we weren't good(except for a handful of games) even with most of the squad fit. People keep saying "it's a process" but during any process you see signs of change. I'm not seeing that. I'm seeing a guy who won't change, or adapt regardless of situation. He's that boer war general that marches his troops proudly straight across the ww1 battlefield in their shiny uniforms whilst getting picked off from the trenches, because of pride and ego.

He's just the wrong man to get fully behind for me, and remember I fought for Jose and Conte till the end so I'm not that guy who always wants change.

So 14th tonight and if palace get a point or better on Saturday we'll be 15th.
Honestly it's actually just funny now. To be behind man u and west ham considering the shit show those 2 clubs and teams are is actually such an achievement.

yet he’ll still be defended, when it’s indefensible. People have got used to losing pretty quickly. Personally I’m disgusted by the club to let this keep on going. I really think it’s a bizarre situation.

All three of them were wrong for us for a number of reasons but that never made them bad managers.

Ange is a completely different beast to them all and that’s why we look markedly worse currently than we did under those 3.

José in particular had a fucking shambolic squad where any of our good players bar Kane and Son were completely past it. Conte had us 4th despite going through personal hell that season and being completely stitched up by Levy with a lack of backing. Nuno had a breakdown by all accounts but still was doing a fuckload better than this shit.

We are at unprecedented - for the last 15 years - levels of bad for Spurs. Even our worst managers of late didn’t come close to the depths we’re at now. This is firmly on the manager and that is as he is looking like an objectively bad manager.

I’ve been saying this situation is like Gerrard at Villa. Absolutely disgracing himself and driving a squad that should be nowhere near the bottom 3 into a relegation fight. I’m still Ange in but do understand the alternative view that he should go, but completely disingenuous crap like this really doesn’t make the case. When comparing squads with other managers you pretty quickly gloss over the fact all of Ange’s predecessors had two elite forwards where Ange has none (and arguably only one who is decent PL level depending on your view of Son these days). Even more ludicrously, ignoring the squad Ange is actually able to select from is what makes the comparison so disingenuous. Can you imagine conte’s reaction if he was forced to pick a 3rd choice keeper, a reserve CB, an 18 year old midfielder as a CB and Djed Spence as a left back? He’d have resigned in a sulk in 2 minutes. And while we’re on the subject, he didn’t lead us to 4th while going through personal hell. The year he was going through hell he threw the players under the bus and fucked off home

I know it's an unpopular opinion but I've liked our transfer policy since Ange came in.

It feels like we have a proper strategy finally.

Gray, bergvall, VDV, Kinsky all look like wonderful signings.
Oderbert and Dragusin fit the bill in terms of profile but the jury is out for injury and performance reasons, but you can't get it right every time.
Know nothing of Yang but sounds promising and the Croatian kid looks good.

Solanke was overpriced but sensible.

looks like we have the decent basis of a good and exciting young squad to me.

Couldn't really speculate on other teams issues but we patently don't have the financial constraints at this moment in time to be able to turn, what i'm sure is multiple leads made by the recruitment department into deals concluded.

These may well be in form of loans with obligations (like Porro and Deki) or some other creative accounting treatment but point is to bring bodies in now and we just consistently fail to adequately do such over countless transfer windows under countless managers.

If Ange was sacked who would come in? We can’t do the Mason thing again surely? Please not Southgate

Benitez or someone like him that has European and PL experience until the summer then reassess. He won Chelsea the Europa league as a caretaker. I wouldn’t want him longer than that but someone sensible to come in and balance the ship. Struggling to think of any others of the required gravitas.

I don't know how I feel anymore, I like Ange, and I do want to see him succeed, but the longer the performances continue as they do, I struggle to find reason to get behind him.

They say pride comes before the fall, and I feel that's what will happen with Ange, his steadfast belief in his system because its worked elsewhere and little evidence of adaptation on show, I can't help but feel deep down, this only goes one way and that's Ange being moved on. And I really don't know where that'll leave us.
