This man needs to remain! The press conference was intense, and it’s evident that he genuinely cares about the team. The players are fully supportive of his vision. Even Romero has publicly endorsed him (you don’t see that often). He’s in the process of creating a formidable young team for the future. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day! He’s faced a lot of bad luck with injuries and illnesses this season, yet we still boast one of the best goal differences in the league. Once we secure a solid defensive midfielder, an CB and some capable wingers, I believe we’ll see significant improvement.

Just answer me this: who is available now or in the summer that is better and will want to come? The answer reflects both the state of the club and the reality.

However, the degree to which we are so uncompetitive is shocking, even when accounting for injuries.
I get what you're saying about points but how competitive we've been this season on the pitch despite an epic absentee list gives me some optimism.

We're over half way into the season having played almost 30 games and have only lost 1 game by more than one goal and that was to the leaders.

To be that competitive on the pitch with a decimiated squad gives me hope that with more key players available we'll do very under Ange. My bigger is whether we can ever have a mostly fit squad except for the start of seasons.

Nobody cares or remembers if you are Ange in or Ange out, so no need to preface every message with it. Just Sit on the fence and say you were right with whatever happens to Ange in hindsight and COYFS 👍

Indeed. For everyone who keeps feeling the need to state they're 'Ange in,' 'Ange out,' 'shake it all a fucking bout,' and especially when their opinions change as often as they have a hot dinner:

It doesn't matter who's in or out on here, if this form continues much longer I'm sure Ange will be out, regardless of whatever we think. The facts of the matter are our poor "form" has persisted for roughly 14 months, spanning nearly 50 league matches. That's nearly a season and a half of mid-table results.

Something has to change- and fast. Whether it's the club supporting Ange in this transfer window, Ange making tactical adjustments, or the returning players from injury turning things around, something needs to happen. The results of the last year and more aren’t sustainable for a club that claims to have aspirations of competing at the top.

Since the infamous Chelsea match, we’ve managed just 64 points from 48 matches. That’s an average of 1.3 points per game—roughly 49 points across a full season, which has been good enough for only 10th or 11th place in recent seasons.

Looking at this "calendar year"—from January 1, 2024, to yesterday—the numbers are slightly worse. Over the past 38 league matches (an entire season’s worth), we’ve accumulated just 48 points. Last season, that total would have placed us around 11th or 12th. In 2022/23, it would have been enough for 11th.

To put this into further perspective, many fans often talk about how dreadful the '90s were for Spurs. For those of you too young to remember the '90s, the last year is essentially a throwback to that era in terms of results. Here’s a breakdown of our league points totals during that era:
  • 1992/93: 59 points
  • 1993/94: 45 points
  • 1994/95: 62 points
  • 1995/96: 61 points
  • 1996/97: 46 points
  • 1997/98: 44 points
  • 1998/99: 47 points
  • 1999/00: 53 points
This gives an average points total of 52.13 across those seasons.

Even when including the title-worthy start to 2023—where we earned 26 points from the first 10 matches (an incredible 2.6 points per game, equivalent to 99 points over a full season)—our overall average drops significantly. Across this longer period, we’ve averaged just 1.55 points per game, which equates to roughly 59 points across a season—around 9th place in the last couple of years.

I’ve changed my mind let’s get 3-4 decent players in this Jan, get the squad fully fit from end of this month and give him a chance till end of season , I have a feeling he may be able to win us all over again IF we get some quality leaders in

Obviously results need to improve (albeit there's a myriad of factors why they're not right now), but it's worth noting that we got 59 points in 19/20, 62 points in 20/21 and 60 points in 22/23, and that was with one of the best forwards of all time scoring for fun in the most effective striking combination the league's ever seen. Honestly, barring that Conte revival in 2022, we've been a midtable team for the past six or seven years: Kane (and a younger, more clinical Son) was papering over the cracks. It's not a surprise that without those, we're midtable.

Rusk.... Since 19/20...we',ve finished:

6th
7th
4th
8th
5th

Is that mid table? In and around top 6 I'd say.

Mid table for me is probably around 8th -'14th

But I'd say it's been a fair while since we were one of the best teams in the league, aside from that Conte run and Ange's start. We've not been a consistently good team since about Christmas 2018 imo, largely cause we had a very good team and didn't replace them with players of the same quality.

I’m more gutted we’ve fucked it for a European finish if anything. Because under Ange I have to say I’ve enjoyed us having more games and a chance to see our talented youngsters showcased. Finishing out of Europe would feel like a step back to me so hopefully we can find a route in via winning one of the domestic cups, or potentially even the EL.

I suppose if we get our act together there is still a chance of Conference League spot which at this point I’d bite your hand off for.

Sadly though it seems unlikely without January reinforcements and we’re going to have to farm out a lot of these lads on loan as there’ll be no minutes for them.

IF IF IF

Surely you're suggesting therefore that without the gift of Kane we'd have been paying these prices to watch mid table, ambitionless mediocrity, under the Chairman you continue to support? How can you maintain such a stance?

I worry about this too. The gap to the top seven is a fair bit and whilst not insurmountable we are asking for a big turnaround.
So then we are looking at winning a cup. I think we have it in us to win the Europa league. Not playing the extra two games would be most welcome. That may not turn out to be very easy !!

Agreed. We are effectively caught between bringing in new blood and yet not having sufficient quality in numbers to function across league and cup competitions. We obviously need ready made signings now. I hope we get them, in spades. But this is a reactive ambition, and betrays a carelessness of strategy. A lack of foresight and imagination. It seems to have been ever thus. Sigh. We must live in hope and get what pleasure where we can.
