I'm in the "i don't care" group regarding Ange at the minute.

Obviously I want us to do well and I would have liked that to be with Ange, but it has become glaringly obvious that hes not the man for us.

It makes me laugh when people say we can't get rid because he's still in all competitions.
Yes we're still in the league cup, by the skin of our teeth (Coventry) but still in it none the less!
It's practically impossible to be knocked out of the Europa at this point and the FA cup hasn't even started yet!
As far as the league goes, we'll be lucky to finish top 10 this season.

The only competition that hes done well in thus far is the league cup, the one cup that most other teams don't take as seriously!

People who claim that we'd be in a better position if we didn't have injuries, youre probably right! We might be 10th instead of 11th....

One of the main reasons we have so many injuries is because of Anges tactics and training, plus his failure to rotate players during the season. The only reason we're seeing the likes of Gray, Bergvall, Regulion and Spence playing any games is because Ange has no choice. The proof is his lack of rotation when we had a fit squad.

We'd be extremely lucky to get past Liverpool over two legs, but I shall keep everything crossed.
We'll get through the FA cup against Tamworth, that should be a given! (Or will it? I wouldn't put any cash on it)

We've got a few tricky games in Europe so nothing is guaranteed there either.

I think the majority of "Ange in" people are relying on doing well in the cups. Ask yourself, come the start of February if we were out of all the cup competitions with nothing to play for in the league, would you still look at Ange as the man to take us forward?

For me, there's way too many RED flags that show Ange won't succeed, but I look forward to be proved wrong.

I will continue to support the team and back the manager, but I think people need to be realistic at where we are as a club.

Until ENIC move on, we'll be having the same conversations every season and not getting anywhere.

Apologies about the long post.

Generally agree, but there is a lot of ‘what if…’ in your post. What if we’d lost to Coventry. What if we’re out the cups by February. What if Ange’s tactics are killing all the players.

Alternatively: What if we jam ourselves into the final? What if we secure our place in the L16 of the EL with wins over Hoffenheim and Elfsborg. What if VDV and Romero come back and we go on another winning run like earlier in the season.

We’re in a bad place at the moment and it’s hard to see past only the negative. January will be a right test, but like you say, all we can do is get behind the manager and team. We have no real say when he’s fired so we endure.

Completely agree, that's why I'm in the "dont care" group and not the "Ange out"
Im hoping that your scenarios come true, although I cant see the VDV and Romero one coming true, we had them earlier in the season and we've never had any type of consistent run. (Unless you're counting the run of games agianst the likes of Qarabaq ect)

What happens if we finish 16th and win the League cup? Is that enough for Ange to take us into next season? Yes we'd finally have the "no cup" monkey off our backs but we'd be no further forward regarding league, Europe ect.

I'll continue to support Ange, but I wouldn't lose any sleep if he was to be sacked tonight

I know some of the games have been a tough watch and we shouldn’t really be expecting defeat in a game like today, though most of us did…. But for me, there’s something about Ange* that makes me think he could eventually be a winner for us.

If he’s backed, and in particular if he buys another very fast defender, who his tactics seem to rely heavily on, plus getting even half of our players back, I think we’ll start challenging again. Maybe we’re a trophy away from regaining our confidence as a club. Like Fergie winning the cup saved him from the sack. Not that I think we’ll go on to rule world football like they did, but it could change everything for us. Arteta was also dogshit for a couple of seasons before it clicked too.

I completely understand the calls for him to go, the number of defeats is genuinely unbelievable, but injuries and suspensions simply have to be taken into account. The medical team could do with a freshen up too… Anyway, I would personally give him another 18 months to see if he can turn things around….. if he’s backed. I can handle the shit if I see signs of progression. We’re unlikely to get an injury crisis like this again and I’m still quite excited at the thought of what a fully fit squad with a few additions can do under him. I’m all in for Ange but I feel he will be sacked this season if we don’t win a cup.

* ‘There’s something about Ange’ gives me an unfortunate image of Ange with cum on his earlobe.

I'm Ange out (not based on today) but I don't think he will go till the summer for the numerous reasons in this thread.

But playing devils advocate for the sake of it, we are still in the FA Cup/Europa, would a change give us more of a chance in these? Even if it was a temp manager

even with a full squad I can not see Ange overseeing a Europa a league win, when you need to go to a couple of away grounds and kill the game, could you see us go to Porto and getting a low scoring draw for example ?

Could do.

Or could get worse, seemingly like Utd. But there have been notable examples like Di Matteo at Chelsea and Arteta at Arsenal.

Of course, previous managers there had lost the dressing room. I still get the impression this lot would be less than impressed should Ange go.

Would anyone at the start of the season have imagined Reguilon would play any part in our season? Would anyone have kept him if a loan or sale could have been agreed? Would anyone have used him in the team unless it was there was no other choice whatsoever? Would anyone have played him ahead of Spence?

Why is anyone surprised that Ange didn't either?
Yes I would have kept him.
I would have rotated him in the cups.
Same with Spence.
What I wouldn't do is try mental gymnastics to try and absolve the manager of any blame.
He's out of his depth and everyone knows it

No home PL win since November 3rd.

Lost 10 out of 20 games

1 clean sheet at home in 2024 (Everton)

Guys... This is serious!!!!!

I would
If we get to the end of january with all losses, and Levy doesn’t back him properly in the transfer window so that we have enough players to compensate the recurrent injuries, i would rather finish the season with Mason.
You know that the dislike of Ange is removing all rational thought if this is what you'd rather have.

I mean, I like Mase but he's not ready and he's not even the No2.

Look I’m not saying we won’t improve in terms of results with a fully fit squad. Of course we will. But based upon the evidence I’ve seen of his 18 months at Spurs so far and at all his previous clubs, the “fully fit squad” seems a bit of a pipe dream.

Ange has been very clear he isn’t going to change his intense approach. And we know any significant backing from Levy this window is unlikely. We’ve got minimum 2 more games to play in the CC. We’ve got a winnable draw in the FA Cup which might lead to a second winnable draw. We’ve got two more EL group games with a decent chance of an extra 2 playoff matches.

We’ve seen plenty of evidence of recurring injuries under Ange. And Ange has not proven he can scrape results together in an injury crisis, even if performances are sometimes OK. What worries me is what if the injuries just keep coming? No matter what you think of Ange there has to be a cut off point, because there is a chance albeit slim of relegation. We are just as likely to get relegated as we are to win one of the 3 cups. In fact we could end up doing both.

As I say, the most worrying thing about Ange for me now is the combination of likelihood of injuries and poor results in an injury crisis. This can be avoided if Levy backs him with 3 more decent outfield players. But will he? It could very easily get to the point where we can’t get key players on the pitch this season for Ange or any new manager for that matter. At which point it could be too late.

Fine, we’re not gonna get anything at the Emirates. But anything less than 4 points in the Everton and Leicester games then he has to go for me, as much as I don’t want us to do it.

I hope not. In 10 games time, we'll have only 8 games to change any 'situation' that we're in
It’s all cool. We are still getting CL as we are going to win the EL. We’ve just used this year to bed in the youngsters. It’s a genius move! In Ange we trust.

It's a strange one, the players still appear to be playing for Ange, so I don't think theres any point getting rid at the moment.
Getting in a new manager would me the players learning a new formation/tactics ect.
We might get the manager bounce, but just look at the Anorim situation at Utd, it's not a given.

On our day using anges tactics, we can bow any team out of the water, unfortunately they don't happen often enough and that's the problem.

I'd keep him in charge until at least the end of the season, provided we don't get dragged into a relegation fight

If Spurs win the league cup, the narrative will just shift to ‘Haven’t won a serious cup since 1991’
