I do wonder if we actually had the option if he would consider going to a back 3. It really does look like wing backs with 2 center backs at times. Or at least whether we could get Gray split the 2 centre backs when players return. One thing that was really nice to see today was the crossing from Porro. I would like to see him out wide getting more crosses in going forward. Reguilon has a good cross too so think there would be real potential if we had 2 up top and let those 3 push on. Even just having Richarlison come on when chasing a game like today.

There was enough today to stick with Ange until the end of the season. Then assess whether we're heading in the right direction. We pretty much need to do what Chelsea did last season.

The problem is we don't seem remotely close to signing anyone. And we have pool and arsenal next.

I don't think he will last long
This morning we were linked to nobody, by 11am we were just waiting for medical to be done for the GK, we might not be close but it’s obvious Lange and Co like to keep it on the low.

We got 12 minutes extra time today. I cant understand why he didnt used our last sub and got Lankshear on, when we were pressing for a goal. I think his stubbornes to use the squad have been the factor to get us in this situation with bad form. You have to your principles but you have to be flexible to be a premier league manager. ( sorry for bad english and grammar mistakes)

New recruitment team is quite honestly shit. Lange had a shit rep at villa and will have one here. One senior player signed in the last window is not kicking on.
That suggests to me that he's better for youth though. I would keep him as head of youth and maybe in the summer get Paratici on the more senior targets.

Getting Porro/Spence/Reguilon more on the wing would make sense as they can produce a bit from the wing and it allows us not to play our ponny wingers and rather Deki and Madders together a bit more centrally.

But will you get a pragmatic approach like this by Ange?

Thats why i struggle to get behind him.

We had a chief pragmatist in Mourinho saying he couldn’t do anything due to injuries, and his teams weren’t having to use third choice keepers and 18 year olds out of position. No one is improving this team in the immediate term cause there’s not much team to improve.
I would venture that the lack of defensive rotation when the squad was/is fit and this truly ridiculous high line no matter the opposition is having a bearing on the amount of injuries we have at the mo.

I think that everyone is pretty much entrenched in their opinions now but it will be interesting to see what happens over the next few games. I'd love to know what Daniel is thinking.

To me that was the least miserable loss we've had since Chelsea at home last season. Obviously it's never nice to lose, but it was good seeing such a heavily rotated and depleted side give it their absolute all against an in-form Newcastle. Credit to Ange for having the players up for it, despite circumstances.

Probably sees himself as better than that and would quickly jump ship if offered more power at another club

I’m not Ange out (at least before the end of the season). But I think the performance of Austin, Spence and Reggi reflects badly on how he’s managed the squad this season.

Even if we suppose his methods can cause hamstring strains, he didn’t give the squad an illness, make Bentancur and Djed pick up daft suspensions and break Vicario’s ankle.
