Guehi for me to replace. We won’t spunk up the wages tho.
Nah, it'll be Phillips and Vuskovic in a Levy special.
We'll make some noise about going for a big name but end up settling for what we've got, or bring in a shit but experienced loan player.

Yeah, the club has broken me!

I'm still in the ‘Ange in’ camp, but if we were to move on from him then Poch would be the one for me. Do you think come Jan or in the summer should the opportunity arise do you have any level of confidence of Poch returning?

I can't see the club moving for Poch if Ange is sacked. As that would mean Levy acknowledging for once that he actually made a mistake.

He would appoint Mason as manager before Poch IMO.

My argument revolves around the amount of injuries we keep on picking up, hence there being another internal investigation.

The situation handled around Romero/VDV, was poor to say the least & i’m amazed Porro hasn’t picked up an injury yet.

What was the point of Spence signing a new contract then …
Are we going to pretend that Porro has been in amazing form & deserves to start every single game ?
Well presumably the ‘investigation’ will be done very quickly. I mean asking coaches and those who work on the injuries will know. 🤷
What’s the reason Spence doesn’t get his chance? WE don’t know but the club will know if Levy is being stupid enough to not play someone for no reason. We don’t know everything on here.

Of all the managers we've had this is the hill your gonna die on.

Of all managers? Who else? Conte, who was acting like a spoilt brat, so he'd get fired and get the money he wanted, while playing boring football? Mourinho, who was practically the same? Pochettino, who everyone could see was at the end of the road with this team? Redknapp, who wanted the England job?

Or Postecoglou, who everyone can see wants to build something here, and wants to be here? Who plays great football?

I seriously doubt we’re getting relegated but put it this way, if you asked me before the start of the season what are our chances of getting relegated I probably would’ve said 0.1% but now I’d honestly say, especially if we drop points to Southampton and a few more over Xmas, that it goes up to 10% or something. Still very low but even the fact it’s a vague possibility, injury crisis or not, is pretty bad.

Of course not but can you see where our next win is coming from?

We should beat southampton but it’s exactly the kind of game we’ve been losing. I have no confidence at all that we will.

Ange talks a good game and is at it again today in the press conference, but he’s not backing it up on the pitch with good tactical and player decisions.

Relegation. You want to stick by him if we are bottom four by then?
Yeah but that’s not going to happen is it? Fucking Everton haven’t gone down and they’ve been shite for years.

Seriously, it’s 500/1 odds. Stick a tenner on it if you’re confident that’s where it’s heading.

To be fair we do have Dorrington, Phillips and Vuskovic incoming - all look highly talented young defenders. Not all three will likely make the grade for us but you would like to think at least one of them would. We do need to keep them in mind when recruiting. If it was me I'd be trying to arrange a loan or a short term (2 year max) contract for a more experienced, pacy defender who can play on the left of central defence.

I guess if you were planning to invest in January you’d want some reassurance that the system won’t change fundamentally in the next 6 months.

In that respect, I think it’s stick or twist for Daniel once the transfer window opens (unless we just opt for Werner-style loans)
Aye but that’s why we should have a plan to have a similar manager to Ange, given how much we’ve spent on youth. Pointless to bring in someone who’s completely different.

Nice to hear another manager's view of Ange. If only some of our fans and pundits could have this kind of perspective and patience on it all, think the whole club would be a better place to be around right now...

How do you

How do you know another manager can't organise this team better than Ange. Half the goals may well of been conceded from players mistakes but the other half were conceded because we leave two defenders back and get caught out time and time again and that can be rectified by the manager.
The other half is a very small amount tbf. That would mean that something stops a lot of goals going in. We’ve only conceded 19.
Could that be that the system works in keeping the opponents busy? idk lol

And it's not like any of this should come as news to him, the signs have been there since January that there's a way of completely undoing us in a match and there's nothing we can do about it. He's had ample time to address the gaping flaws in his philosophy and he just... hasn't and he clearly doesn't intend to.

And the injuries... Kilpatrick said the club is launching an investigation into the medical department... how about they also look at the desperate sprints our players have to do in every match because the whole team has piled forward and left too few players with far too much ground to cover. Micky definitely came back early, there were some pics of him doing individual training and then suddenly he was starting, out of nowhere. At least Cuti would've had at least 1 training session with the group but even his return felt rushed. I don't know if that's on the medical dept, the players, or Ange but they way he laid into Werner last night it feels like he's getting desperate.

It's feeling more and more like a case of "when" not "if".
If the club are doing an investigation into the medical department and they find it's not the medical team per se, then it'll lead them to the training/game methods, if that is indeed the reason.

tbf Martin’s in a very similar spot in that he’s been trying to instil something to last with younger players…problem is, fans don’t like losing every week.

I do think it’s quite telling how many outside fans don’t think the issue is Ange.

Lol we're not spending 70m(that's what Palace demanded from Newcastle) on a third choice centre back. No club is spending that tbf.

I love that Ange takes full responsibility. No hiding. He accepts it and the responsibility to sort it out.

Good stuff.
This is my issue. I like Ange immensely as a human being. However, tactically this has been going on for too long.

I’m torn. The majority of my family and pals are Celtic fans. So I’ve been a fan of Ange for a good few years now.

I’m in the camp that we don’t have that much to lose sticking with him till the summer and seeing if he makes the required tweaks when we get players back from injury. Especially as there is no available candidate to replace him I’m particularly enamoured with. That said, i’m never sure if I’m being led by my bias towards him, or the fact that as a person he’s exactly who I want to represent our club.

I’ve tried to detach that bias by imagining if it was say a Nuno managing us just now, would I be so forgiving of the issues and form? I probably wouldn’t. So I certainly won’t judge anyone who thinks they have seen enough and he’s run his course.

Well who expected 4-0 away to City with same players?

Poch was 4-2-3-1. Does Kulu play No 10 role or out wide with Maddison in the 10 role?

Realistically to challenge for top 4 we need better players regardless of the system which includes 2 new fullbacks an experienced 6 and 2 new attackers, the rest are either too young, inconsistent or not good enough. At least there is a decent spine there...when fit!

That we’re conceding cheap goals is a damning indictment of Ange. Good teams don’t make mistakes and lose goals like that because their players are well drilled - ours are not.

A different manager wouldn’t persist with tactics that are not working with our strongest or weakened team. We would do better in the short term, that much I think is undeniable rather than sending our players out like cattle for slaughter every week in a system that leaves them exposed. Nobody is disagreeing that Ange is suffering a result of a shockingly bad transfer window. But if he adjusted his system to win games that would buy him the credit he needed to be backed - right now I’d bet he’s given the board the ultimate excuse to not back him because they rightfully don’t trust him.

If we bring in a new manager it has to be one they trust to back. Whether that’ll happen or not is another matter but we know the likely unfortunate answer.
Yeah. But we’ve been making stupid mistakes too often for years
