Sorry, you can’t contradict something you said only very recently and then single out 1 player among many that played poorly. You agreed to his re loan Ange and you keep picking him after everyone and their aunty knew what to expect from Werner. The pressure is getting to him it seems and imo it’s only a matter of time before he gets the sack.
I’d be amazed if he makes it past the weekend. Him being in charge going into the Man Utd and Liverpool games has the potential to make some of the Tactics Tim era games look like child’s play.

We're at a crossroads and neither scenario reflects well on Levy yet again. We either go all in on Ange and get top players because only top players can make this system work. If we do that it looks bad because it's what we should have done with Conte 2 years ago. A more decorated manager and weve lost 2 years and playing catch up. Or we hire a young manager who can work with our limitations and develop the youth. That also makes us look bad because it's another wrong manager choice for how we operate. Levy out and get someone else to make the decision because he clearly can't get it right.
Who are these top players? Because I can’t think of many forwards who would work as hard as Solanke but score more than him. Or wingers that can trash full backs in 1v1s and still press like mad men for 90 min.
Or a defensive midfielder who’s a fantastic ball winner but also good progressor and passer (maybe Rodri?).
Rapid centerbacks that can sprint continously for 90 minutes as balls are played in behind, make zero mistakes and be great passers.
And finally full backs who are as good as midfielders as they are defenders, and also make sprint after sprint for 90 minutes.

Without even thinking what such players would cost, who are these players and where are they? Because I can barely think of any that fits the bill, and even fewer who are realistic transfers.

And lets have it right, he's called out Werner?

What about Son, our captain, (who i love) but was shocking....

I mean if youre singling out players publicly at least name all guilty parties, not just the one on loan...

Bit sligh of Ange imo.
May be he didn’t want to make him cry.
Stupid decision to make him captain tbh. God we are woeful right now.

Poor first 60 mins, ok final 30.

Credit Ange for proactive changes at half time and before 60 mins, the changes got us a point.

More poor defending from Porro who just isn’t a right back defensively and good to see Ange calling out Werner’s performance as unacceptable, it’s like playing with 10 men most matches with Werner playing, surely Ange will know we need upgrades in the wide area and a reliable back-up to Solanke, we looked a different side with Kulu on, Son LW and Solanke on but we have zero quality depth as Werner is the depth and he’s pony, Moore is 17, Richy is always injured etc etc.

Ok result, not the best performance, gave up a fair few chances defensively again, big Fraser was brilliant yet again.

Must win on Sunday, I think and hope we will win that but if not the pressure will start to ratchet up.

I think we can all agree Levy has dealed Ange a 💩 hand in regards to signings. It’s hard to know if Ange approved or not on what we got over the summer as public and private comments are two different things.

But in regards to team performances, what are people seeing that I’m missing? The odd result again a poor form Man City enough?

We’re playing poorly, the system doesn’t work, he hasn’t improved any players - I don’t see that we’re moving in a positive direction unfortunately.

It’s a shame I know - we all wanted a manager to get behind and stay for a while, but we’re heading for a mid table finish.

I don't think Werner would be have had that many games this season if Odebert and Moore were fit.

I'd guess that Ange was responding to a very direct question regarding Werner, but even so, he could've replied differently. Sounds like Ange is starting to feel the pressure of this situation we're in.

On another note (perhaps related) I read earlier that we are conducting another review of our medical team. I do think they have got some long term issues that will never go away (Richarlison) but I'd like to know if the review looks at how we are playing and training. A few on here think the style is going to yield more injuries.

He said Werner publicly but also said our best players should have stepped up. I think he was using Werner to have a go at all the “senior” players

This feels very much like the end.

We have all seen it before. Manager gets screwed in the market, results start going badly, players get worse, individual errors add up (notice it’s always under performing managers that suffer all the individual errors that can never be their fault?), performances and decisions get more erratic and then the little stories in the press come out . How long before a story about the players not like training ?

im really sad because he is such a likeable bloke who I desperately want to be spurs manager but I fear we are fast reaching the point of no return.

Make no mistake this is on the board, Mann and Lange just as much. To go into a season so under prepared is a disgrace. I bet Levy would never short sell his precious stadium the at he does the team. But Ange is a premier league manager and they’re paid to get results and he simply isn’t getting them now and he doesn’t look like doing so.

it’s like Groundhog Day😟

He takes the easy option and blames Werner, showing me everything he is about.

Be the fucking leader you claim to be and take the hard option, not the guy on loan who won't be here soon.

Not good at all just singling out Werner imo.

Many of them were just as insipid including our captain

Werner doesnt deserve to be alone in public criticism because he miscontrolled that pass on the touchline.

Awful to just single him out, and especially when Ange said himself, just yestetday, that he'd never do that.

"We deal with these things in our own four walls. There's always issues we need to deal with. The same way I wouldn't criticise a player or anyone else, we shouldn't be doing that in a public sense
I’ve noticed on other occasions Ange is pretty hypocritical. E.g. calling out cliches in questions at press conferences and then using the same cliches himself in interviews

Totally get your points essentially saying the style of play is to blame and no players are able to sustain it all at this level but in terms of strikers, we could go and get Gyökeres, more realistically Jonathan David is a good pressing forward to add to the squad, Tammy Abraham too but doubt he wants to leave Milan, just a few examples.

In terms of wide players, Mbuemo, Semenyo, Mitoma from the PL and others.

But yea I get your point regarding the concerns regarding the style of play etc.

Easy to throw a loan player under the bus, but the big question is why keep picking him when he continually digs him out? Just seems like a bit of a cop out for me, and not actually acknowledging the bigger issues.
Not just picking him, but actively approved re-signing him when it was clearly apparent he wasn’t up to standard.

I’m neither surprised by tonight or strangely that bothered, it’s getting tired & predictable now.

Judging by the lack of post match comments in this thread, I don’t think I’m alone.
