I understand why our fans are so frustrated, but I don’t at the same time.
Just because we came close once, the majority of the fanbase seem to think we’re “owed” a trophy or some silverware just because we’ve been patient.

We’ve no more claim to a trophy than the other teams that are also playing for the same trophies.

I’m not sure the fanbases of other less successful clubs that have been waiting even longer for silverware than we have have so many vitriolic, entitled fuckers feeling hard done by because it’s unfair or something.

It’s frustrating. I get it, but we’re owed fuck all. Our squad is upper mid table and it’s playing out that way.

Ange in. Im not convinced anyone would do any better at this juncture because the club is largely a bit pointless.

Our whole strategy is to try to qualify for Europe.
That grows the brand. Getting the name out there. That lines the pockets.

There’s FUCK ALL appetite from the board to achieve anything other than this, so can we please stop blaming the fucking managers and sacking them all the time.

All of them manage Spurs with one arm tied behind their back.
This should be patently obvious to anyone vaguely lucid, so can we please just pack it in blaming the manager.

As for the complete pricks in the stands hurling abuse at Ange…
Fucking morons. I hope they have their pants pulled down in public and are then humiliated by everyone pointing and laughing at their piddly dicks. Twats.

Tottenham can beat anyone on their day. Including their managers.

Owed, entitled?!

Did you spend the time and money to support the team on Thursday?

I don't agree with the vitriol, and hate it when we get to this, stage (every couple of years of course) and the fans turn on each other.

Your vitriol is part of the problem just like the bloke we don't wanna hear on the clip.

Direct it at Levy- if anywhere

I think if you were to look at our squad with those goals in mind and subtract everyone that wouldn't be up to it even in a squad rotation role then we would look something like this....

() - back up
? - undeveloped/inexperienced
* - needs to prove themselves
….. - empty spot

CF - Solanke* (….., Lankshear?)
LW - ..... (Son, Odobert?, Moore?, Yang?)
RW - ..... (Johnson*, Odobert?, Yang?)
AM - Kulu (Maddison*, …..)
CM - Sarr (Bentancur, Maddison*, Bergvall?)
DM - ..... ( Gray?, Bentancur)
LB - Udogie (.....)
LCB - VDV (Davies, …..)
RCB - Romero (Radu*, Vušković?)
RB - Porro (Spence*, Gray?)
GK - Vic (...., Austin/Whiteman.)

Anyone not mentioned above should or will be gone by the end of the season. I think unfortunately Romero will also be going next summer and possibly Porro which makes things far more complex.

Davies doesn’t have much longer left in his legs but I think he’s worthy of the 1 year extension that we supposedly want to give him. Would give us more time to improve other areas as well.

Son I know has looked shocking of late but I still think as a rotation squad option he can and would be useful.

Personally I would be putting Maddison and Johnson on thin ice as although both are decent and offer something I'm not sure they offer enough even as squad players if we really want to reach for the very very top playing this brand of football.

Beyond that Solanke has impressed to a certain degree and I think with better wingers he will look a lot better but we can’t say for sure he is good enough to be a starting CF for a club challenging for the biggest honours hence the *. Worst comes to worst he’d be an excellent rotation option.

I think you could probably make an argument about Sarr not being a starter but I also think he has improved a lot and with a better DM he could well be up to the required level.

There are also other youth players we have out on loan or in the lower ranks that could well turn into very useful players for us but at this stage they are still complete unknowns more so then the youngsters mentioned above.

When you take all that into consideration it's abundantly clear we still need A LOT of work in order to really challenge. But this is if we are talking about reaching the very top IE consistently challenging for the PL and CL. The gap to getting into the top 4 isn't quite so big but it would require some ruthless decisions and astute recruitment. Neither of which I think Levy has the nouse or stomach for.

I think unfortunately the chances of Ange starting next season for us are slim to none. Regardless what I think of him the amount of games, lack of backing regarding established players, injuries, tactical stubbornness and occasional questionable man management will ultimately be too much.

That said I still think the focus has to be on the January transfer window. Even if there is a feeling behind the scenes that Ange might not be the man, as is clearly evident to anyone with even a passing knowledge of football the squad is severely lacking in key areas. That isn’t going to change with a different manager. This is why clubs have technical/sporting directors, to always grow and better the team regardless of the man managing the team on the pitch.

Ultimately even if we ditch Ange, which I think is fairly pointless at this stage, the only way we can try and evolve as a club is by bringing in another manager with a similar attacking philosophy that will build on the foundations already laid. This is why the likes of Slot and Maresca have seemingly clicked so swiftly. Essentially they weren’t being tasked with rebuilding the philosophy of the club from the ground up. That is what Ange is in the middle of doing and it isn’t done over night. What we absolutely can not do is go back to a pragmatic manager. Already I have seen some names mentioned in here that would not prescribe to the ethos we are in the process of shifting to. Regardless how good a manager those individuals may be this would be an absolutely awful move by the club. We need to build on the work Ange has done not raze it to the ground and start again…. Again

Realistically I think there are very few managers who could beat Chelsea or Liverpool with the team we currently have and the condition it’s in. If we sack Ange we would be replacing him for the sake of 5th or 6th because this team is just not good enough to get top 4. No manager is going to suddenly evolve Johnson into a 1v1 demon, turn Son 5 years younger, improve Werner's erratic finishing, make Maddison consistent or speed up Odebert's post surgery recovery. They aren't going to turn Bergvall, Gray and Yang into seasoned leaders nor fix Bissuma's focus issues.

Going back to your original question as to what we need to acquire in order to turn this team into challengers. There is only one and that is a new owner. There is no other answer no matter how much we all squabble amongst ourselves about this player and that manager. It’s all meaningless.

As most know I love watching and writing about players I’d like to see pull on our shirt even if I know the chances are slim to none. I am reaching a point where I just can’t be fucked anymore. Why? Because even doing that stems from a place of hope and optimism. I have none left. I realised this morning that I will be watching the game on Sunday with a mindset of morbid fascination rather than excitement. Even If we win I know it likely won’t mean anything and no doubt be forgotten within a week or two. Every weekend I’m just going through the motions. We all know the eventual outcome, the names may change but the result stay the same.

I will always love the club and support the team but there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow as long as Levy is in charge.
Another cracker from the most knowledgeable poster on the board!

To pass your interview to replace Lange, you have 70m and 150k per week in wages in total available to spend next month.

What do you do with it, mate?

Spend all or some of it, keep some in the kitty because your target/s more achievable in the summer?

Unless he loses the dressing room and the wheels fall off completely, we have to stick with him until the end of the season and see how we're doing then.

If it's still as inconsistent as it is now, we should accept it's not working and part ways.

Two full seasons should be enough to know the direction you're going in.

ok. “Success” whatever that looks like to each individual.
No one has the stones to be patient for it given Ange is attempting to instil a new philosophy and culture at the club with a squad on its arse.
Success now and mouth foaming and vitriol > patience.

You really do put it in a relatable way. I reached this point about two years ago; and the only reason I still go and have my season ticket is to see family. I find the whole experience of going almost always to be a waste of time - time that I would these days rather spend doing other things. And that is coming from someone who, a number of years ago, wouldn't miss going to a game, anywhere.

I do find myself from time to time being angry about that, and it always comes back to the same thing: that this owner has succeeded so well in totally ruining my love for the club and one of the things that I used to love spending my time doing.

No matter how much Ange in or out one may be, it's not going to make any difference. It all boils down to the bald master on the board, who does not give a sixpence on how well or bad the team does.
We all know that he's only in it for the £££££....!
Agreed, but I think you'll find Levy does care how good or bad the team does.... But for completely opposite reasons a fan does.... Levy has the luxury of a financial year and forecasts, projections bla bla bla.... It's a different game altogether for Levy 😥

My vitriol? What?

My issue IS with Levy. Is that not abundantly clear??

I’m also annoyed at the twattish fans slamming Ange because they don’t have the mental fortitude to see the bigger picture at play, even though it’s glaringly obvious.

I.e. Levy.

Hope clears up my position for you…

Yeah, that’s a massive difference so glad you corrected it. You made it sound like people are being unreasonable and being very scathing of fans who don’t feel the same as you. Away fans are the most hardcore fans we have, they’re not fair weather, they’ve been here long before Ange and will be here long after he’s gone.

Iraolo, McKenna, Silva I would think.
With the way Fabian Hürzeler turned around their 3-2 win, you like to think Lange and Co took note have him under observation! Not that I want Ange out, but the chances are Levy will revert to type and conjure yet another Illusion of project/plan....

by this token, away fans are gods that must be revered? Does it allow them to call him a fat ****? It's a fucking joke the lengths we will go to, to defend thuggish, behaviour. You can tolerate it all you want - I don't care how many away games they went to & how many they will go to - they can all fuck right off as I don't believe they represent the larger set of fans that support this club. They have a choice - they can stop attending matches & save their tickets and travel money if they hate the club so much. As ange said, they are allowed to express their feelings but it got personal which is disrespectful and unnecessary.

Imagine, these are the kinds of fans who jeer the team when we lose - tell me again about fairweather fans? Imagine the players who would be hurting from another defeat having to hear this kind of abuse? The fear of failure must run so deep in them after this kind of 'support'.

See, those korean fans who come to the stadium, they come to support Sonny, even when Sonny plays shit, they sing his name loudly and proudly. That's what supporters to otherwise they are not supporting anything.

You sound like you only started following football last week or something. No one is defending people being abusive. But it’s tiring as fuck reading the non stop super fan brigade like you and many others telling people how to feel and act and how to be a “proper” fan.

It’s also this idea that a lot of people seem to have in their heads that at all we need to be is patient. Patience literally guarantees we win the treble soon. That’s it. Job done. Just got to stick it out. Stick it out and we can’t fail. It’s impossible.

It’s pretty straight forward really. Yes by all means criticise when things aren’t going right, but that “fan” who called Ange what he called him shouldn’t be allowed to come back to any games in my opinion.

The same way it was wrong for people to abuse Johnson it’s the same for that man to abuse Ange. It’s just uncalled for.

Criticism yes, abuse no. Simple really.

Yeah obviously. No one is defending that. But people on here got their backs up at the mere sound of booing. Fuck me. It’s a football match.
