Really disappointing today, clearly dead on our feet and Ange doesn't trust the kids to play a proper part yet. We have all called it, but the window in the summer was well below par. Other than Dom we didn't bring anyone in for this season.

Really worry for us in the coming weeks, lots of games and we are down to bare bones.

Not one dribble completed by Son, Werner or Johnson, Johnson and Son had 3 crosses each and didn’t complete a single one whilst there where 3 key passes amongst the three (2 by Werner and 1 by Son).

Pretty good evidence of why we desperately need to add someone of technical quality in attack this winter.

They don't play an intense high pressing game like we do, they don't look to dominate games the way we do either. They've also just gotten players back from injury and theyve spent close to a billion on their whole squad. Over nearly 6 years.

Yeah, because we were really dominant today weren't we.....

I find it's such a lazy argument when people say Arteta doesn't look to dominate games.

Just because he isn't throwing everyone forward kamikaze style, doesn't necessarily mean he's not looking to be attacking.

Such a crucial part of the season & the players are already dead on their feet.
Could be a brutal month, with even more injuries 🤦🏼

Half our 1st XI are out. Happened at the same stage last season. We signed one starter in the summer (solanke) we need at least 2 in January or we will just tread water this season

No but he's very happy for his team not to have the ball, is what I mean. They're very defensive and when they were missing key players, much like we were today, they were horrendous to watch and our fans didn't stand for it under Jose or Conte either.

We weren't dominant today, no, but I didn't say that in my post so I'm not sure how relevant it is to the overall discussion and comparison.

It's such a shame that we have fans ready to come in here and attack Ange despite all the evidence sitting right in front of your faces.

We are probably going to suffer these next 2 months.

We need to be brave and insist that the only way Ange can have a chance of success is if he is allowed to build a squad of 18-20 players that can play exactly how he requires so that when we do hit these bad patches with injury, we have adequate rotation.

I fear that a poor run will have fans calling for his head. A new coach comes in (and sporting director) and we change direction again which means more player turnover and we come up against the same issues of lacking depth.

We might fluke a cup this year, but we're not going to challenge at the top of the table with him. If he's gone in the summer I won't be disappointed.

Seriously though, we are many years off challenging the top, no matter who's on charge.

Beat the champions away 4-0 eight days ago.

Whilst I don’t agree with the original comment you’re responding to, you could equally say we lost 2-1 at home to a promoted team, the game before.

The biggest issue we have is consistency, which is stopping us progressing in the league.

I think we need 4/5 just to get some quality across the pitch and to be able to make the changes I’m sure Ange wants to make.

Do you mean to tell me we needed better wingers in the summer? We are getting what we deserved for that negligence unfortunately.

I thought Son and Johnson were absolutely awful today (and yes I know Johnson scored), neither of them wanted to do anything expressive with the ball whatsoever. Werner at least tried a few times which I can appreciate, even if he failed, but at the same time we know he's not good enough either. The problem is that we've also now fully stocked ourselves with sub-par wingers, which makes it an even tougher task to get what we really need there.

Yes I agree.

He needs to rotate Udogie for that left back we signed in the summer.
While we do need one, Ange has had no problem earlier in the season playing DJed out there and his exclusion from the European squad (even with the goalkeeping situation) is a huge error that has put an immense amount of pressure on a small group of key players. Obviously Djed has been injured for a while, but since coming back he's been excluded.

I get that the squad still needs investment and we definitely need a dedicated backup for Dest, but to pretend we can't do better with what we have is laughable.

The responsibility for this shitshow today was above Ange's pay grade.

Davies, Dragusin and Forster is a big step down from Romero, VDV and Vicario. It's just a bridge too far.

There's nothing instense about our pressing most of the time.
Did you watch us last week v City? It was seriously intense.

The issue is when Dom is missing, he's our trigger and he's the best presser we have. When he goes the team follows. Son today was non existent. Might as well have played without a striker.

Some of our players look dead on their feet and that's because our squad is not deep enough to sustain in every competition
