It's the CL Final, we are 2-1 up and the 4th official signals 5 minutes of added time - do you want Ange to play entertaining expansive football or do you want him to be pragmatic?
He’s not a dolt. Did you not watch the first ten or fifteen games of last season. The ones we were winning by a small margin, and he bring in some of the bench players with experience (EG: PEH), to shut the game down. He wasn’t cavalier. Nor did he take risks. He knows how to manage a game. He’s shown that side of him enough times to trust he isn’t a half wit when it comes to scenarios like the one u outline.

spot on we are evolvong the squad and we have lost experience but gained promising young players who need time.

we need a couple more seasons at least to judge ofc it’s football so he won’t get it

I have been enormously skeptical of Ange and his football for a while, and vocally so. But the Man City game convinced me of where we are and what we're doing.

Yeah, we're up and down depending on the opposition. But as a neutral mate was telling me last Friday, he looks forward to seeing us on the telly, because our games are so entertaining.

We aren't trying to bore the other team to death, we're simply trying to play football, and win with a flourish. All the Bill Nick hallmarks.

So we drew against roma, we'll probably do something mad against Fulham. But when we know we can put 4 past Man City, Villa, Man Utd etc... I just feel that this is all going to be worth it.

So that's it... I'm in.
I like this a lot. But I doubt there's ever been a stronger kiss of death ahead of a run-of-the-mill match for us this weekend.

I look forward to your 180 turn in the match thread....:X3:

Fraction, my arse. They spent about 200m in the summer.
Hahaha - you can’t be serious? Have a think about what you’re saying. They do have a fraction of the budget, way smaller stadium, revenues etc. What they do better than most is recruit well and sell for max profit. They are the ultimate moneyball success story, and their management of the club on the field is everything we should be.

Total refresh of a club, seem to just get it right all the time and when managers leave them it doesn’t seem to work out well for the said manager.

A lot about Brighton is laudable but it's come at the cost of a massive debt to the owners, so I don't know how sustainable it is going forward.

Irrespective of point scoring for /against our ownership and Brighton I feel they have a really good squad right now.

I don’t know much about the manager but I think he has the players to mount a top four challenge.

I dont think theyre quite good enough for that.

Spurs fans would be so forgiving to Levy and Enic if they started selling our top players. Getting good money for Eriksen, Dele, Son and Kane etc. when they hit their peak value.

But at least they are trying .
Trying for what though?
They've got a tiny stadium and sell off players as soon as a half decent offer comes in, coupled with a great big debt.

They've become a decent and steady premier league team but they're not going to get much better than that, in my opinion.
Their model has plateaued as far as I can see.

If we’re all being balls out here, wee will never complete for a very long time without investment. United as fick as I hate them are higher up in terms of winning things. They have won them them when we have won’t clean fuck all. U cannot deny the facts.

What’s your point here?
Brighton’s entire business model is based upon buying well and selling for top profit to be sustainable, which is fair for a small club who only made it to the prem for the first time in 2017.

We’re supposed to be competing at the top table as one of the richest clubs in world football. Brighton have a fraction of our budget, but good on them and their owners for reinvesting significantly in the playing squad to keep them competitive.

I'm saying they have the ability to spend a lot of money. And they do. Wider points about recruitment strategy have nothing to do with the original point (which was just as meaningless given we're 13 games into the season).

Rice is the difference, we don’t have any player with his capability, well no that’s it right we do, Ange for what ever reason doesn't reply them that way. U want to rampant full backs you need a guy to sit deeper and cover for them. Ange doesnt seem to wanna do that for some reason. Sarr ans bid have the engine to do it though, but not utimately holding players. Last truely holding players we have had were Sandro and Palaciois, how many years ago was that?
Does Rice play deeper than Biss or Bents? I'm not sure he does. I know Biss main problem is ball watching and jogging back

Hard to say cause he is Arsenal, but Rice always puts a shift in. I like all out CMS, but they all have a tendacy to switch off a bit. Rice will graft all day long.

You used their spending in the summer to argue they don’t have a fraction of our budget, which is nonsense, hence my response.
