I don't think there's enough evidence to support that conclusion yet. Slot has hit the ground running, but Ange did the same last year.

Not least, there are many examples of managers who take over and improve an already well drilled team, but falter after a year or so.
I think we should have done anything we could to appoint Slot or Howe personally. Not because I necessarily think they are better managers than Ange(cos we just don't know that), just that they would have been a better fit for the club and how it operates.

The funny thing is, its only really spurs fans on forums that don't believe our managers are getting backed. they follow every transfer saga, furiously refreshing and work themselves into a frenzy as to why we haven't signed Eze, Oshimen or alike. Most, if not all clubs out there are linked with players they dont get. Over the last few years we have spent a ton of money. I get pelters from fans of other clubs for our lack of success Vs. money spent.

Its clear to me that we've changed direction with the new recruitment team and are now targeting future talent with a view to peaking in a few years. we need to be patient and not just resort to the usual "tight Levy" Trope. Our recent spending is right up there.
Profile pic checks out.

You clearly didn't get the memo - apparently it is no longer about transfer fees it is about wages.

Agree, both are more flexible and we are seeing that under Levy, stubborn rigid managers don’t fare well usually.

Ange still needs more time and proper backing over the next 2 windows but yea I’d have had Slot ahead of Ange as Slot is really nicely balanced in everything he does, Howe is similar.

So Porro, Bissouma and Richy then, with also spending on Udogie for the furture.(you dont know that he didnt want Bissouma- he only ever called out Spence as a club signing).

So it's not quite the Spence and Lenglet only narrative that was trying to be spun.

Ok well If you actually read my comments and want to go into details, we can do that...

In key areas of a Conte team and at that point we were crying out for a right wing back and a LCB.

He got Lenglet and Spence.

Read it again, Bissouma wasnt a Conte signing. It was well documented by reliable spurs sources and Bissoumas lack of consistent gametime from when he joined only highlighted that.

Porro joined when he was on the verge of leaving. Too little, too late.

Yes he was backed with Richarlison.

I'm making the point that Conte wasnt fully backed. Arteta was.

We need to direct that pressure onto Levy and not let him divert it towards the manager.
He needs to know that we hold him responsible for what's going on.
A new manager won't make any difference while Levy is still playing the game the way he does.
I’m glad so many on here can now see this, I just wonder if the match going fans are smart enough to override their usual nature to boo the manager when the results aren’t going well and instead boo the chairman who is clearly to blame for the same cycle repeating over and over.

Are you seriously naive enough to think Ange wanted Werner on loan over an Eze, Neto etc.

Do you also believe he wanted an 18 year old midfielder over Connor Gallagher?

‘Peaking in a few years’ - love it

Can’t wait to see our Team of the Eighties or the Golden Generation.

While its obvious we make mistakes while putting together a competitive squad I don't like this, to be an excuse here. Of course every manager in the world wants shiny new quality toys for all positions. Its clearly not the fact that Ange dies get nothing he demands. He got a Premier League proven no. 9 in Solanke, a no. 10 in Maddison or a new winger in Brennan Johnson. Again, I agree we are left short on the wings, CDM and left back with quality players who could fill a leader role.

Still, you have to work with what you have and get the best out of it. If you can only do it with really specific players its an excuse and just shows how non flexible you are as a manager. We can not get 10-20 new players everytime we get a new manager.

The squad is definitley strong enough to beat Ipswich at home or grind out wins against Palace or Leicester. Probably a big reason is our manager don't want to grind out wins and rather sticks with his stubborn romantic idea of football.

I did read what you wrote, that's why i called it out. you were trying to spin that all he got was Lenglet and Spence, which is wildly inaccurate, just to suit your narrative.

Dont disagree at all. But its same narrative. We lose a few key players like VDV and its square pegs in round holes time.

It is about both, of course. You can happily agree a £100m fee but if you’re not willing to pay £300k minimum a week you’re not getting a £100m player.

I very rarely step in on this chat. But don’t be so convinced he didn’t want Werner back, because he did. was his call and nobody else.

Thanks for the above on Werner, Ange has said it so many times in interviews he only sanctions bringing in players that he wants.

Those arguing Ange didn’t get the players he wanted. Well he himself said he was happy, and his decisions. Let’s not try and spin it to suit our arguments. Time will tell, but he doesn’t have long to turn it around. I really hope he does, but I have my doubts.
