I’m alone on an island in saying this, but I felt from day one, Nuno was set up to fail. By the club. By the players. By the media. And most of all… the fans.

He wasn’t given a damn minute to try and make his mark. Inherited an utter shit show. And then was given a bag of shit with shit stained wipes to clean it up.

Nuno isn’t just a decent human being. He is also a good coach. Which is why I’m delighted for how he’s doing at Forest. Everyone forgot that he actually did a very good job with Wolves until his final season. Then it just crumbled apart.

I feel He deserves more respect than we and everyone else gave the guy. As the poor chap was a dead man walking from the minute he started.

Based on what Conte did afterwards, I know who’d I’d pick of the two if they were the last two managers on Earth.
True although Nuno’s interviews and personality were and still are dull as dishwater, he suits the Nottingham Forests and Wolves of this world just like Moyes suits Everton and West Ham but neither of them were good fits for Man.U and Spurs, big clubs in need of top tier managers and characters.

Ange fits exactly what we needed as a club. I think Slot would’ve been an equally effective fit for us. I think Tuchel, Nagglesman etc would’ve failed with us and been bad fits.

The fit of a manager and a club especially these days is so important.

Nuno had just said before the appointment that he needed a break away from football. Seemed like his agent convinced him to come, as he might not get the chance again.

All the circumstances around the appointment were wrong. It wasn’t about giving him more time. It was a panic from all sides after everything else that had gone wrong.

I'm convinced he was just a stop gap until a higher profile option became available.

We gave him a 2 year contract with option to extend for one year, not exactly confidence inspiring for him or the players.
I think the contract length for managers these days makes a big difference as it’s a sign of commitment and confidence in the appointment.

The fans are far more willing to give Ange time as he’s on a 4 year deal and is committed to the club and project vs Conte who never wanted to really be our manager, made our he was doing us a favour and would only commit to 12-18 months at a time, hardly a good platform for stability etc.

Ange is a fraud.
Talks a great game, but his 1 directional tactics, inability to change mid-game and personal selection are beyond comprehensible at times.
I’ve been saying this for months. He is not the horse to back, unless we collapse he’ll get the season id imagine. But we will continue to blow hot and cold under him and because of that, we’ll never been consistent enough to challenge for any kind of success

Here is some genuine criticism. His tactical game management can be pretty poor, whether he fixes that or not is going to be the difference between him being a good manager and him being a superstar with us.

Our largely 2nd string couldn't string 2 passes together tonight. Nothing to do with the manager at all. We did show good character as more 1st team players came on despite down to 10 men. I love that side of things under Ange. He doesn't just tear things up because the players can't cope, he forces his players to keep to his methods and we fought back because of it. Our 2nd string does need time to grow though. Although they were shocking tonight and at Coventry at least there's plenty of potential among half of that team tonight.

You do know that we don't win anything for coming top of this stage of the Europa league don't you?

It's a long season, if we really needed to win this game he wouldn't have played Forster and the kids.

Yeah I’m not having that result being on Ange. I’m one of the first to pile in when I think he’s being inflexible, but he had a crack at giving some of the fringe players a chance and they weren’t up to it.
We’ve seen this many times over the years.

Could have mixed up the incessant passing out from the back thought couldn’t he?
I’m desperate for us to be successful. Ange wont be the person to bring it though

Yep pretty much this, more composure on the ball results in less chances for them and more for us, there were moments in that game when we got round them which showed that.

He was obviously burnt out in the season before with Wolves. Looked dead on the sideline and team got worse.
Bad timing, but guess he couldn't turn it down.

Just like every other manager that has ever lived. No one gets it right every game.

Have you forgotten the last game where he took off Sonny which raised eyebrows yet we smashed Villa after.

I'm not having some meme level whine about fannying around at the back or stubborn high lines. I'm extremely happy for him to play Ange's style of football but if he's going to play that way, do it tactically well. Today wasn't that. He does sometimes get it right but the tactical side of his game is his weakness and that's ok to highlight if you want him to be a success.
