Last season we finished 5th and what got us that position was the great start we had, form based on result post Chelsea home loss wouldn’t have us finishing 5th. We’ve got potentially on paper much tougher away fixtures to come than Brighton and Palace away.

Last season we picked up 2 points away against Newcastle, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool where the heat really is turned up when the chips are down.

We’ve already lost the first one away at Newcastle. If we continue with performances we have been chucking in, how many points do you honestly believe we will get in away matches this season from Newcastle, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool? I hope I’m wrong but I’ve got an idea in mind of how many if I’m being really honest and impartial.

We are best set up for a cup team this year and that will only work if we don’t chuck in a performance like 2nd half Brighton or Palace away if we do, only the Europa league based on two legs offers us a chance of a comeback.

As brutal and as harsh as this all sounds that’s where we’re at this season.

Unfortunately mate he doesn't appear to be one for making such adjustments as you call them.
He has so many positives in terms of being our manager, he seems a decent bloke, can talk well on a number of issues including stuff outside of football, clearly gets connections to players, wants to play front foot football etc but he's been left short by the board in terms of signings, been let down by some players who imo aren't good & consistent enough to play for a team wanting to finish top 4/5 and also he has to shoulder some of the responsibility as he is too rigid and won't adapt.
As @spursfan77 put it earlier he will likely be sacked and while he will have contributed to it ultimately his failure will be a reflection of our owners continued failure on the football side of things. Until that changes it's rinse and repeat
You could be talking about any Tottenham manager of the last 20+ years.

You can sense the apathy growing in the fan base....thats down to the owners at the end of the day.
Yeah but it achieves nothing by sacking Ange, I honestly feel bad for him.
I've said it before he's just the latest guy who will fail because of a failing and flawed model. (Failing in the sense of success on the pitch.)

Yeah totally. Just meant towards the owners.

Ange gets at least the season but he's got to sort out how we approach away game if he's to survive long term.

There's definitely a very clear pattern and that wont yield enough points if its not addressed

So what, TBH I don't care what he is, does or doesn't do, what possible difference would it make, it's all gone beyond that now. We'll churn through this manager, spit and chew out the next one and none of the previous ones have managed much either, we've complained about, wanted them out, change this, he doesn't do that............

The only difference in any of them, absolutely any of them, are the nature of the complaints and often times, they've actually been the same thing. I'm not sure when the penny will drop, we can criticise, we can want him out and to what end? To repeat the cycle and that's all. We'll want Ange out so we can begin the proicess of wanting the next patsy out.

This club won't be any different until the philosophy changes and that won't happen under the current lot.

So for me, right now and until that happens, a manager who'll try to play the right way will do because the evidence is clear.

We still need a leader in that team. Romero is disappointing he should bestirring the troops.
Ange needs to shake it up by dropping some of these guaranteed starters stop them being complacent

I find myself once again not agreeing with his post-match reflections - it didn't feel like Palace imposed a certain type of game upon us, more like we were just bad for the entire match all on our own, we couldn't string two passes together.

I also don't like him disregarding literally every aspect of the game apart from attacking football. Not just actual recognised parts of the game like... defending... but moaning about the stop/start nature of yesterday's game. "I just want to play football, mate" is a wonderful quote for a biography but in the real world, teams are going to shithouse and timewaste against us and surely rising above all of that is something he should be instilling. Pretending none of it is a thing isn't the solution.

Honestly at points in matches like these he's looked like he knows he's out of his depth. To me he just doesn't have the air of a manager who's inspiring players to "run through brick walls". I'm still a long way from wanting him gone, mostly because when it's good it's very good but partly because I've no idea who would replace him but his stubbornness will be his downfall. So many times this calendar year we've seen "I don't want him gone but he needs to change" and yet, here we are, still getting undone by smaller teams with tactically superior coaches, setting up against us in a way they can be pretty sure will lead to success. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there were tentative conversations already happening tbh.

The only silver lining is that we've got some great young players in (some of whom aren't even at the club yet), the recruitment and the academy are all finally pulling in the same direction and it feels like we've almost undone all of the mistakes of previous transfer windows (I don't think people appreciate quite how much work has been done on the outs since Ange came in) so hopefully we can be much more proactive in the next windows because there's still a lot to do.

He hasn’t been found out when we are top4/5 in pretty much all of meaningful stats, and the results will soon catch up to performances.

Considering we have 2nd youngest squad in PL this season, and yesterday it was youngest starting squad for Spurs - performances like that can happen

Cups are the salvation here and midweek against City will tell me more about this team and their mentality than against Palace, as insipid a display as that was.

this stuff about being set up as a cup team - what bollocks. away in the league, away in the cup, still won't get anything if we play like yesterday.

He’s safe until the “Levy out” chants begin. Let’s be honest, there’s a lot of people still happy despite the results that we aren’t playing negative Mourinho or Conte football. And if he came across as big of a twat as those two, he’d have already lost the majority of fans over the last year.

There is zero apathy towards him at home games and unless that changes then he will be safe, which I think will be the rest of the season. If he doesn’t get champions league football, which the owners crave then they will make a decision then instead. History tells us such.

This loss is totally on Ange imo. You could see by 45mins the intensity palace was pressing us. We needed to be a lot quicker in transition. Clearly madders and Kulu was not working and anyone with a football knowledge can see that. Sarr needed to come on for Madders at half time. Playing Kulu and Madders against a team that presses is setting up for a lost in the future.

I think that away from home we need a change to the system - I'd drop Maddison and play Bissouma (or Bentancur) with Sarr behind Deki personally. We are far too easy to play through in midfield - I don't know if it's due to Bissouma just not being at the level needed to cover or if it's an impossible task for anybody.

It matters because ultimately I want him to succeed and it's frustrating seeing a manager who I have an affinity for not giving himself the best chance he has of being a success. I put him up there with Jol and Poch as managers who you want to listen to. Yea he will likely still fall short of he does adapt a little because of factors outside his control but that doesn't mean he shouldn't try.
What you say about owners is what I echoed at end of my post so no disagreement there.
Let's just hope there is more than just paper talk about the takeover because otherwise we'll be back here in less than 2 years about our next manager
