Which is why my dread for the last 8 or so months has been that his entire philosophy has a ceiling and the Premier League is above that ceiling. If we can't sustain his ideal game for 90 minutes week in week out then we have to have an alternative approach that we can fall back to, depending on the state of the game. Even if it's just making subs earlier he has to do something. Standing there with his hands in his pockets, shaking his head, as the game slips away is not the answer.
EVERY league he has ever managed in has had people say the same thing, yet here we are. Im sure this time though it will be different!

You can’t panic and make changes as soon as the second half has kicked off. Come on.
I don't think anyone is saying make changes as soon as they scored their first, but by the 55th minute you could see the flow of the game and that's an acceptable time to make subs and stem the flow, break the momentum

This is a bit different in the sense that we are pretty much one pass away from disaster with this high line.

We are making good players look like world beaters.
I’m not sure it is, i’ve lost count of the amount of times over the last few decades where Spurs have been disjointed in one department or another, that along with being a bit of a soft touch and prone to folding under pressure. This is just the latest in a long line of periods where we again have problems in certain areas. There was a lot of good today as well. It’s typical Spurs to be honest.

Does he ever hold himself accountable ?
Pre game the interviewer asked him a question, I forgot exactly what it was, but he dismissed it & said he WANTS an open game 🤦🏼‍♀️

Found it … he got his wish 🤦🏼‍♀️
Listen to the first question & answer.

Yes of course he does. He said it’s on him straight after the game.

Second half our players looked significantly off the pace, our midfield looked overrun, our press was non existent, our attacking patterns were slow + basic and our defence were constantly under pressure and constantly struggling. This was clear to see when we let in the first goal and it was clear to see when we let in third.

I completely respect Ange’s stubbornness regarding general tactics and overall ethos but his attitude towards subs + game management lost us this game. We should not have lost. I just wish I believed that he would learn from this in the future.

It's just fucking game management, see what's obviously happening and do something about it. At times it's just so frustrating watching him just stand there as it's all falling apart in front of his eyes.
Also, they had to know Brighton were gonna be better and brighter 2nd half, and we were gonna start to feel the affects of playing Thursday. Maybe just think about changing it at HT and just sit just a little deeper and counter 2nd half. Johnson, Werner, and Solanke all had the beating of their defenders, opportunities would have become available without having to take risks. I don't think that's hindsight, just sense.

I do like Ange, but today was not his finest three quarters of an hour...

Every style of play has issues but the profile and mentality of players determines how that’s managed. We have some wonderful football players but perhaps we need more leaders and know how to get us through games like that.
Nah , I think the players are being set up for failure with these tactics. How often now have we looked great in the first half and then tired in the second and lost the game?

It's a very different kind of loss to Newcastle & Arsenal, where we were probably better but couldn't finish. We collapsed. That is harder to show you've learned from until you're in that situation again.

I seem to recall when we were conceding late goals AVB moving the more mentally taxing drills to the end of the day, and we stopped conceding late goals - it's that sort of thing that we need. I think our approach is basically fine, today was either down to concentration or fitness or complacency, which is annoyingly harder to fix than just finishing. What he's paid for though, so we'll see.

First time a loss has got to me this season. Losses are one thing but the manner of them another. Today was a complete reversion to worst Spurs traits we've all become accustomed to in recent decades.

Leaves a bitter taste knowing that still lurks and can suddenly manifest out of nowhere.

Rome wasn't built in a day I guess.

He didn’t exactly have many options to change the game. A bench made up of defensive players and children.
we were up against it all the 2nd half, the warning signs were there. yret did nothing until about 80 mins, long after we went 3-2 down. He could have tried someting.

same old same old.

all well and good expecting the team to learn and improve, question is, when will Ange?

Such BS. It’s clear we have tweaked, improved our system. We can’t keep coming back to this every time we don’t win. It’s such a lazy argument and, for once, the onus should be on the players to be professional.

And what did he do to change it? Other than stand there shaking his head?
Agree, they didn’t mention that to him. The game was crying out for us to get fresh legs on and more stability in the middle of the park. Sadly we did that when it was too late
