Typical Ange performance.
This is what we signed up for. This is what we deserve . So no further complaints…

Resigned to fact that we will win when we shouldn’t win and lose when we shouldn’t … net net , nice to watch but never challenge for title in sustained manner
when do we win when we shouldn't in the league?

There's a pattern forming for me. The games we've lost or drawn we've controlled, been the better team and should have managed the game out. We don't have the personnel for that in midfield imho. That Rodri style player that breaks it up, slows it down, brings the calm. Bentancur is phenomenal when we're on top but when those mad 20 mins periods happen he's not the man and none of our CM's are.
Agree mate I still think the squad lacks a few key components to make us more consistent which will hopefully be addressed in January and next summer:
1. A top quality LB more in their prime age to compete with Udogie or for him to learn from
2. A top quality DM like Rodri, Rice etc who can help us shut out games when needed
3. More quality creative depth in CM, beyond Maddison and Deki right now we don't really have any options of the required level to come on and change a game. Bergvall is very raw and young and Biss and Sarr are not that type of player
4. More goal scoring threat in our attacking players. One top quality winger signing and a more reliable back-up to Solanke than Richarlison
5. A better back-up to Vicario than Forster as if Vicario gets injured we are going to get punished with Forster in goal

We could also do with maybe 1-2 more experienced heads to help calm us down and get us over the line in games, not him per say but a James Milner type in the squad who has been there and done it who can help lead us as the squad overall is just a bit too young and inexperienced and too nice also.

Address those 5-6 positions in the next 2 windows and with more time and games for the team to learn and grow we will get more and more consistent imo.

Oh and yes Ange does need to make changes more proactively, I hope he does learn this but I can see him continuing to be a bit stubborn in this sense but if our player quality gets better and our plan A gets better and more consistent then happy days.

First half was once again. superb.

But Ange really needs to buck him his ideas when the game starts to change.

Sometimes players alone can't do it.

That's why he needs to be much more proactive when things start to change.

You can't sit and expect it to work itself at this level. PL crowds get well behind their team when they see light and it adds an extra man.

You need to find a way to take the sting out of that momentum because it won't work on its own.

Intentionally sabotaged?

Really?

I’m pretty sure he thought it was possible to win the game with the players on the pitch, I’m just saying that he has to balance immediate wins with the development of the team and maybe got it wrong tonight.
He needs to take the action that will most likely lead to a positive outcome in this particular game, not try and teach long term lessons by refusing to make necessary changes. If he was so focused on the long term that he’s willing to make sacrifices in the present then why is he keeping Werner on rather than giving Moore a proper shot? Werner has no future at this club so why persist with him when he’s delivering very little?

The question is whether he can learn from the team's and his mistakes. He has made some adjustments since day one but it isn't clear that he can learn, and hence, adjust quick enough. I'm all in with Ange and will be as we are still in transition. But making the same mistakes at the back is, was and will be the number one question mark to his management.

I can’t see him lasting the season to be honest. Sooner or later he’ll loose the dressing room with results like that. Continuing to play Werner who has very little end product.

He says the right things, but he doesn’t want to lead by example. If it’s clearly going wrong, change it.

We all knew this would be an up and down season but nobody wants the downs do they?

Pretty sure that if I go into the player threads it’ll be about players who were world class last week now not being good enough.

It was a poor second half against a side many expected to be in the mix for Top 6 (with us) at the start of the season.

It wasn’t great, but it’s really not that bad.

But management is about risks.

He took risks in fielding a bunch of kids in Europe and it worked out. Perhaps he took a risk in letting his players wrestle the game back and that risk didn’t work out.
Sorry but that is utter nonsense. Brighton had wrestled complete control and we were on our knees at 2-1 and then 2-2 and he still stood there with his hands in his pockets, we never looked remotely like wrestling the game back.

You did see Mikeys cameo at the end?

No disrespect to the lad at all as he’s at the start of his career but he gave the ball every time he got it.

It really was that bad. We were toothless and naive and Brighton outplayed us.

He was given very little time and was desperately trying to make something happen. Why not give him a proper go? The team had completely lost control of the game. It was painful to watch.

Exactly. He was trying too hard and not letting the play dictate his actions.

The hope is that results like last week followed by this week will finally allow the players to realise Ange's system is brilliant but only works if you keep the intensity up for 90 minutes. Every game we've lost this year has been when we're off it and passive.

You don't have to score 4 goals to win every game with this style, one will do it, but you cannot drop and let teams have time on the ball. City don't do it, and as soon as the players realised it never stops, we will get results like this out of our system.
There is no consistency with this team. It's been Win Lose Draw Lose Win Draw for the best part of a year.

Were too easy to score against and I dont think hes ever going to adjust it.

I’ve been a supporter (and on here) to know the players that aren’t playing are always the answer, until they do.

He gets the season unless we fall off a cliff but if we can’t build any sort of stability by this time next May he’s got go for the sake of our blood pressure

If a club decides to prioritise the league over the cup then fine. The problem is that in doing so it diminishes the importance of the competition but the sponsors etc should just accept that they will always be less important that the league and let it be.
We haven’t won anything in forever, we can’t be prioritising any one thing, we have to go for it in every competition.
