I suspect that at some stage this season the pendulum is going to swing from having some people question Ange's ability to having people worried that he only has 12-18 months on his contract

Hopefully not many better places to go than here. Having great success here would imply being one of the top 5 teams in the world both on and off the pitch

I never understand the "if they had scored it would have been far harder for us" argument in looking back at a game in which the other team didn't in fact score from whatever chance it was.

We missed chances last night and hit the post and the bar, but never seem to get credit for our good play that didn't result in a goal, only getting lumped on for the opportunities we gave up to the oppo (that also were not scored).

Absolutely spot on. It’s just another way people find at being negative or pessimistic. The fact is we played a 17, two 18 and one 19 year old last night and won the game away from home against the current champions of Hungary.

They have won all 6 of their opening games and have a plus 12 goal difference.

It’s brilliant to see the young lads get game time and get used to the way Ange sets the team up. Just look the faces of both Moore and Lankshear, they were absolutely delighted and will be all the better for the experience. Well done to the lads and well done to Ange for putting the trust in them.

Well done to Ange for making the tweaks and improving the performances.

Great to see him give the kids a chance. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going

If you're a coach who is working at a club like Tottenham (who aren't front of the queue for trophies) the best thing you can have is talent that you can mould into your way of playing.

It very much worked for Poch.

I think if Ange was handed players similar to what Jose was getting it'd be a mess because a lot of those players already have their style imprinted in them.

Harder to get players to play fast when they are used to just taking care of the ball or not being too brave with it.

Conte and Jose coached a lot of that bravery out of players and Tottenham have always been a better team when the team plays with bravery.

"Finally, four teenagers started for you last night, I think it might be...Ange..."

Ange: "Don't need to say it, mate, don't need to say it..."

"I'm gonna go 'Postecoglou's Prodigies"

(laughter)

Ange: "You even struggled to say it, to be fair, so I don't think it's rolled off the tongue"

:X3::bag:

Another status check on the growth of our team from year to year (small sample size this year). Look at the significant growth in every metric - except possession, which while still high, will be something interesting to follow alongside our goals

Something else that i've noticed is that during a game, some people go a bit over the top over a piece of play which results in no more than the opposition could have got a chance. Just could have, not actually having a chance, is enough to result in over the top FFS-ing and negativity. The minute the opposition get anywhere near our goal, someone's a **** :D

True and I think we’ve actually conceded the 2nd least amount of goals so far and have the best xG against also.

It's like people dont realise 99% of everything happens in football because someone made a mistake. The whole game is basically people making mistakes then capitalising on it

Yeah and then they fail to pick out the good parts of when we do make a mistake. Such as the defensive unit getting back into shape quickly or a midfielder tracking a player making a run.

We've got better at that side of it too but as you say others immediately panic and think we are defending hopelessly.

It's probably something ingrained in us Spurs fans where we have to fear everything is gonna go wrong so the minute we see a stray pass or potential counter attack against us, we are going to concede.

I have to mirror the sentiments about Ange's principles and behaviour.

It is much more in alignment with my beliefs and the way you should go about things.

Arteta could win dozens of trophies at Arsenal and o wouldn't swap him for Ange.

We shouldn't forget morals and our behaviour on our journey.

Some coaches throw all that out of the window in pursuit of success.

I think that's really sad. Why can't you win with good principles and morals? Why do you have to encourage cheating and poor behaviours?

Also Ange doesn’t zip his jacket all the way to the top like a wrong’un… :cautious:

Immediate panic seems to be a 21 st century disease.

Agree, I’ve had my complaints about him but full credit to him, we’re certainly reaping the benefits

I am not too sure yet. I see his skill set as one that is more suited to a traditional 8 at the moment, which is essentially the role he'll have, but I think Maddison and Kulusevski have more attributes associated with a traditional number 10 that enhances their creative output. I think Bergvall will be great at moving the ball along, progressively keeping things ticking and using his great footwork in tight spaces, but I don't see him as one to pick out those vital passes and be the sole creative source in a team.

Not saying he doesn't have a creative bone in him, because he certainly does, but like said, I'm not sure he's the type of player who could be the sole creator in a side.
Think that’s down to which way Ange tries to manage him. He’s a very decisive player but he’s still learning to make right decisions for the way we play. He’s very, very young just now.
