Jonathan Wilson was talking about the Brighton setup vs Chelsea and basically suggested a very high line works if your midfield is up to the task of pressing the midfield - Brighton's wasn't, ours at United was. I think this was a major problem with us in the second half of last season when our midfield just wasn't working, and Deki's adaptation and Maddison's form might really help with that.
Have to say - when I was watching the highlights of that game, I couldn't help thikning Brighton played into their hands. It was a stroll for CHelsea.

Felt it was a pretty low quality game mind, punctuated by Palmer and the class he brings. Brilliant player. Annoyingly

I think we had strong 11-13 players but lacked depth and when we lost a key player or two we struggled.
I think that has been the story for the last 10 years. We are starting to build some depth with youth that can develop. Look forward to seeing the team grow.

The great Arthur Rowe’s push and run side were influenced by Hungarian football and who is Ange’s biggest football influence aside from this father… Puskas!

Glory is coming with Ange’s modern style of push and run guys and gals.

I don't think its pushed enough, how influential Pete McWilliam's Spurs legacy is on world football. Rowe in Hungary and at Spurs, Vic Buckingham at Ajax. Who in turn led to Bill Nicholson, Alf Ramsey, Bobby Robson, Johan Cruyff, etc, etc... Pep probably doesn't realise he's just copying Pete McWilliam.

It's going to be so sweet when we really click into gear and start winning everything. We've done it the right way, regardless of the doommongerers on social media and the negativity that some seem to not be able to break out of (cognitive dissonance).

I'm so glad he making the required tweaks, especially with full backs starting a little wider. I was convinced he would be stubborn but finally starting to believe he is now more than a step, he should be the strategy.

The attack just looks like it has space to attack now

I'm not sure he has made too many tweaks to be honest - I just think we are executing our game plan better generally. I said at the time that I thought Leicester and Newcastle were very very fortunate to come out of those games with anything at all but the talk after those games was about how we needed to change things.
The thing we have got even better at is winning the ball back which is outstanding. I think having a centre forward in the mould of Dom has really helped too.
I'm really enjoying this ride to be honest and am really looking forward to see where it takes us !!

He has adjusted with Kulu and Maddison in the Centre.

I agree, I haven’t noticed too much of a change other than that. Some have mentioned we have wider FBs and Son/ Johnson less wide, I have not noticed but might be because I haven’t look closely. I have noticed that we have started to play like we did in the beginning of the first season and that’s when I loved watching us. I feel our form has had an uptick becasue Benta is starting to look like himself fitness wise, he seems to have his tenacity in the tackle again and an explosive burst again. Also Udogie seems to has caught up fitness wise from missing the pre season. He is driving more and leaving players for dead again. Maddison also is getting games behind him.

I think Ange has tweaked but like you say not far from his original tactic and mostly He has his key players getting fully fit again. The two of Kulu and Maddison in midfield with Benta sitting is a tweak from what I saw. I will watch our next games to see if our inverted fullbacks are more wingbacks and if the wide forwards are in fact more narrow.

We've played a lot better in the last 2 games than the first 10 last year
I concur, simply because both Brentford and Man U have been 90 minute performances, relentless and wearing down the opponent. The Qarabag game in between those two was also an incredible 90 minute performance given the circumstances.

Yeah agree. It's still not quite perfect/how you'd ultimately want it. There was a period in that Utd game where it felt like they could've got back into it because we wasted so many chances.

But yes, we are getting better. Once we start taking our chances more efficiently we are going to be really hard to beat.

Question is, are our players good enough to take the chances?

Bang on.

Thats why Im more excited now.

Its not just stringing results together, its the manner in which we're getting them.
And at that doing so now as a known quantity within the league. A big concern of mine was that we’d been “found out” and that we weren’t going to recapture that form now the league had grown wise to our style of play.

But credit where it’s due - and I’ll admit I was fearing the worst with Ange - it looks like he’s changed our tactics and the mood in the team. Let’s hope that we’re on a roll here and it continues onwards and upwards.

Ange really needed a performance and result like that away from home against a big team to vindicate what he is trying to do. That is three outstanding performances in a row now and the player's buy-in looks total. Long may we continue to play this way. Thank you Ange for your unwavering belief in what you want us to be. I'm with you fella!
