I really don't care if he takes us to the 'top'. Football is watched for entertainment, and I am entertained. Whilst it would be 'entertaining' to watch us win things, lifting a trophy would be a fleeting moment and only 1% of the total entertainment.

I can understand that, for players, their focus is primarily on winning a trophy. Football is their proffesion and what they will, mainly, be judged upon. However, for me, as a supporter, it is about being able to enjoy and be proud of what I watch, week in week out. I am very grateful to Ange for igniting, again, my passion for Spurs.

I don't watch Tottenham for entertainment purposes, I watch Tottenham as they are the team I support and I want them to win.

Of course people can support Tottenham however they like but I believe if football is watched for entertainment, why support one team? Why not just follow the team you believe plays the most entertaining football and then follow another if that changes?

I believe in the Ange project, but am I the only one who finds his prickly defensiveness in press conferences tiring?

Perfectly happy with that. I don’t mind him getting slightly annoyed with repeated silly questions and agendas. I think he expects a certain standard from the journalists, which is good.

Also heard journalists talk about this on some podcast, can’t remember which one, saying they’re very careful about how they phrase their questions, so as not to ‘disappoint’ him or get on his bad side.

This works both ways, doesn't it? If football is all about winning, then why not support a more successful team? Some people take this route, so called "glory hunters."

Ultimately, I believe it’s a false dichotomy because winning is usually entertaining. Teams that win trophies are involved in massive matches, tend to win more than they draw or lose, score many goals, advance deep into elite competitions, and attract world-class players, among other things.

Anyway, most of the top title-winning teams over the past twenty-five years have played a style of football that can be reasonably considered entertaining, such as Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.

As above, i get this point, but why watch them at all? Why not just get the result to see if they'd won, or tune in at the end of the season to see if they're still competing for trophies.

For me, I want to enjoy watching my team play every week. I absolutely want to see them lift a trophy, but in reality, it's such a minuscule part of the season.

See this is what i dont really get about the whole XG thing. Having watched the highlights i cant really tell you which of their chances would have made their XG so high as from what i saw other than the Zirkzee chance all the rest were quite difficult chances.

Ultimately you /we want a Tottenham that you believe in. I grew up with hoddle, waddle, ardilies. I grew up reading about Arthur rowe, bill nic and even Danny blanchflower and their attitudes to football. As I got older a David ginola was the only saving grace in shitty teams. So yes I made a comment to you about not liking bill nic and I was right, read his attitude towards good football, it is very much in our dna.

That’s not to say you can’t play different sorts of football. At one point Jose had us playing very very effective low block football, when the conte machine was in full swing it was great but ultimately you have to believe in those projects and the holes in them were too great to put up with the dire football it came with.

So I’ll always believe in a spurs that’s trying to pass the ball and win more than one trying to just sit back. I don’t know you’re age so not sure what you grew up with so maybe the style isn’t important to you which is fair enough I’m but I don’t think you can deny that anges style while sometimes flawed isn’t effective. Everything in terms of stats shows that we’re heading in the right direction.

How do they even calculate xG? Is it done by a computer? Or do people watch the match and align it with set criteria?

Now that we are going with 2 number 8s we need to sign another one in Jan to rotate
Points to why we were so keen on Eze really doesn’t it. Imagine having one of him Deki, or Maddison to bring off the bench. 🤤

Really gives Bergvall a chance to make an impact though.

There's a huge team of virgins who are employed to do it.
In Ancient Rome the Vestal Virgins protected Vesta’s sacred Hearth, taking a solemn vow. They have gone down in legend. I wonder if in 2000 years people will speak of the stat virgins with the same reverence.

The answer is still Baena imo, he is already on 4 assists in 6 games which takes him up to 12 assists in 2024 which is more then anyone else in the big 5 leagues (KDB and Palmer have 11) and is again one of the all round most creative players in La Liga. Would suit the system very well.

Eh? Bergvall and Sarr are clearly the rotation/back up options. Plus Bentancur can play there as well.

I don't see us adding anymore players to our cm group for a while tbh. we currently have 7 players for 3 positions. With Donley and Devine due to return from loan at some point as well we are very well stocked.

We've got Bergvall, Bissouma and even Gray, Hall and Moore who can all play that role, and I think it would suit Donley pretty well too, depending on how his loan goes.
So I'd worry about blocking their pathway by signing another one.

Apart from Gray, we're lacking more in the defensive role for me, so that's what we should be looking for.

Yesterday may have been the best we have looked under Ange in terms of moving the ball quickly and creating chances. My only wish wouldve been to have scored the 2 or 3 additional goals we deserved.

A lot of teams seem happy for us to have the ball safe in the possibility that one ball over the top gets them in. Thumping one of the top sides mightve made them second guess that approach.
