This a thousand times. Fulham will rough us up as Palace and Ipswich did. I'd add the phrase 'high intensity' to this
and the match will go differently imo.

Should we lose people will be baffled because they tend to over focus on us and how we play not noticing how the opposition are playing.

For a 'lower' team without the resources to buy the best technical talent, they have to rely on roughing teams up and high intensity, the things our players hate most, hence we lose to these 'lower' teams and beat the higher, more technically based ones.
Exactly this. We seem to struggle against the teams that rough us up and press high against our build up shape.

How we as a fanbase have been traumatised over the years came across at HT vs City, being 0-2 up.

Few expected a good result, one bloke was v excited...he'd seen the odds against a city win and unfortunately invested heavily in a sure thing !

..and who expects this City match will mean our season get's turned around and we go on a great run ?

Not many I expect. So much sorrow over so long does this to you !

This may be a reflection of tourists or winning culture but I noticed there weren't many boos going around the Etihad today. If that was us at home the boos would have rung out at half time.
There were some boos pre kick off presumably aimed at the Premier League , seeing they hadn't lost at home for fifty or so matches they haven't got much to be upset about.

Lol why is it? They had an xg of 2.40….. but yeah ignore the stats. I’m obviously massively delighted we won like my posts have said but I’m not gonna sit here and act like it was some defensive masterclass

In a match away at the team who've dominated the league for years, where we've gone ahead early and led the whole way, its unsuprising that city would register a decent xg. Doesnt mean our defense didnt have a good game.

Considering they had 16 shots vs our 9 (23 vs 9 if counting blocked), and we beat them on xg, also shows we did well to limit the quality of shot/chance they were able to take.

Dragusin used the ball much better tonight
Not sure about that? Haven’t looked at the stats but I remember him booting the ball out a few times when trying to pass and some aimless long balls?

He looked better as a player certainly but I’d guess that’s more to do with how we had to play and it suiting his game better.

On the other hand I thought Ben Davies was exemplary.

On reflection about yesterday I think I’m most happy with Madders and Sonny. I said as much yesterday but at times this season it’s felt Kulu was the only one offering real quality in forward areas with Solanke a very good support . But yesterday we saw the Maddison we need, he wanted the ball, got in dangerous positions and was brilliant. That’s the player we brought. I saw a popular X account claiming he never knew why people gave Maddison stick as he’s having an excellent season. That’s just nonsense isn’t ? He hasn’t been consistent enough for us but I hope yesterday was a turning point because he was world class. Sonny too, first half especially looked approaching his old self. So dangerous in and around the box and got him self in that position. He loves where he can curl one in the top corner.

If those two play well we will win more than we lose.

And of course a mention for kulusevski. Absolutely outstanding. I hope Ange considers playing him narrow in the right now with Porro bombing on. We need to nail him down to a new contract asap.

Right… ignore my most post congratulating the team… players etc… plus my messages to my mates about how I’m in disbelief and how much I was loving the game, but because of one comment replying to a post about our cbs where they made out like it was some defensive masterclass when we conceded a high xg and haaland missed 3 sitters then football isn’t for me? Take your emotion out of it, re read what I said and actually use logic.
Why the fuck would anyone want to do that?

Yeah I get that and I’m not saying the defence was bad or that we weren’t the better team. I’m just not gonna say it was a defensive master class when we should have been 2-0 down 10 mins in.
but anyway, it’s a great victory and a wonderful result let’s hope we can actually kick on now and beat Fulham! We are 3 points off 3rd we are massively in this if we can just get some consistency

I think it’s key to our attack to have maddison and kulu playing together. When they start we are devastating going forward, but as we know it doesn’t work in midfield so Kulu moving back to narrow right could work very well. Porro has the ability so stay wide letting Kulu come inside.

It can work in some games imo but not every time

On the BBC Sport website first thing this morning, and had a glance at Sky's site too - top story was "What's happened to City??OMGWTF?"!!!1!"

Scroll down... keep scrolling... Story about Amorim... something about the Woolwich, there it is, "Maddison stars as Spurs beat City", like it happens every day :D

Nothing about what a great game it was or how hard we worked, the absolute battering we dished out, giving them the first defeat at home in 50+ games, nothing to our credit, just an acknowledgement that we won.

A word of praise for Ben Davies . Assured performance. Contract up at the end of the season and most think he will probably leave . He will be a miss, will need a good signing to replace him .
Well played Ben.
He was outstanding. Refreshingly, he moved the ball forward quickly, setting the tempo.

I think Pep pissed off the footy Gods when he glibly referred to us in 2016/17 as the “Harry Kane” team. That didn’t age well.

In an era marked by the sheer dominance of Man City under Pep, we have a unique record of beating them 9 times. More than any other team, right?

Not to mention some very cheeky away draws, during that time.

Funnily enough, “Harry”, has not even been close to being the reason for that record. Not the primary tormenter. A few of those big wins Kane didn’t even play.

Sonny on the other hand and Kulu have made City their play thing over the years.

I know we will be nothing more than a footnote when the history of City during this period is written. But, i think we can confidently say, we are Pep’s bogie team. And I think he did it to himself!

If we play with both fullbacks as inside forwards, despite missing our first choice centre backs, then I think we are going to set a some kind of record today. Probably not a good record, but a record nonetheless

Correct and wrong at the same time. Impressive.

I finally managed to get hold of the Sky Sports coverage (not post-match unfortunately), Neville was making lots and lots of "ohhh" noises.
