Id say we found out the CAS is corrupt today. We already knew some clubs cheat like hell.
Are they corrupt or just shit scared of rocking the boat because it involves a nation state? No good can come of these countries buying football clubs.

I agree but I can also see there being a lot of pressure brought to bear on them when it involves dealing not just with a football club but effectively a country.

You're right. I've been keen to knock ENIC but if the alternative is having City's ownership model I'd rather stick with the devil we know....

Fuck City, but also, and perhaps even more so, fuck UEFA and FFP.

Note that it was the supposedly independent Court of Arbitration for Sport who ruled in City's favour today, not UEFA overruling itself/doing a U-turn.

Not that this means there are no serious questions for UEFA to answer about FFP and its fitness for purpose, but UEFA is not the only institution involved in this murky shambles.

Yep, I’m aware of that. It was UEFA who implemented FFP to help shore up the power of the richest clubs in the game. Hence, “fuck UEFA”.

Football is unbelievably corrupt. Just look at the last few years. We got demoted from home dressing room to away for the CL final. We had a penalty awarded against us in the opening minutes...

City cheated. There’s countless articles explaining how they did it, but they have money, influence and bought their way out of the issue.

It’s disgusting.

"time barred"?
Seems to me like a case of "if you can keep it covered up for long enough, then it becomes irrelevant, even if it was wrong".

Who’s our next manager?

Absolute joke really, got away with it just like Chelsea and their transfer window ban scenario.
If it means us not getting in the Europa League I cant say I mind that much.
All those games, how many played behind closed doors early on ? Prize money is atrocious and Champions League teams coming into the competition after the group stages. Would be brilliant to concentrate on the League and domestic cups whilst our main rivals are playing all those extra games.

The TV and prize money can be up to around £40m, and then you can factor in the ticket, corporate and commercial revenue. Yes, it does take something out of the squad. But you can honestly use the qualifiers and group stage to blood young and fringe players with minimal risk of going out. And the alternative is that we make up that revenue by e.g. selling Son or Dele.

No surprise whatsoever - just a heap of disappointment that FFP has been trashed (and the reasons it was brought in) and the cheats can carry on cheating.

It was the people behind AC Milan, Inter and Juve iirc to cement their place as Europes elite with the likes of England and Spanish clubs start to show dominance in Europe

As long as football clubs are considered businesses, then it just doesn't make sense to cap the amount than an owner can invest in that business. Man City owners can make the case that their investments have grown the revenue and brand value of Man City, which makes it a legitimate use of money.

A better rule would cap the net spending allowed in the transfer window to something like 100 million euros. Then it affects the big clubs as much as others.
