The “experts” on MNF talking absolute bollocks on sky last night. Basically saying it’s fine to sports wash and plough as much money into a team as owners see fit. No surprise Neville who owns a lower league club who have benefitted from his (and others) wealth compared to competing teams was on man city’s side. Just goes to show how stupid footballers are, thankfully they don’t represent the majority of sensible football fans.

yeah the “experts” on Talkshite (Durham and Goughy) we’re also spouting crap about how Man City had only brought good to the game. Seems the Sky media machine is in full swing trying to protect their assets. Who would have thought that?

I can’t see it being a realistic prospect for clubs to sue City. It’s a massive can of worms. It’s more likely that the premier league take action and they are punished that way.
Exactly, will be no backwards punishment, only forwards punishment for that reason

That is exactly what I mean by the game being corrupt from top to bottom.

David Conn, as always, is clearer and more thoughtful about the situation on the lastest Football Weekly pod than any ex-player pundit in any TV studio could ever hope to be.

The problem isn't a breach of FFP, because they technically haven't breached FFP. The problem is that they've lied about where their revenue comes from time and time again.

Ugh, I feel dirty for ever liking Gary Neville.

I despise the Sky team so much I forced myself to sit through 90 mins of Andy Fucking Townsend commentary on Sunday.

It’s amazing how many people discussing it in the media can’t grasp this. It’s almost like they don’t listen and peddle their own agendas on the back of it!

100% agree - they've lied in order to avoid breaching FFP.
If they did everything honestly they'd have struggled to meet FFP conditions etc.

I think the game is awash with greed and there are elements of corruption in there. Everybody has their nose in the trough apart from the fans who finance the whole spectacle. Success is the only thing the fans crave. Players, agents, owners, broadcasters, pundits all support the concept that you grab as much as you can and fuck everybody else. It's hardly surprising that Man City have plenty of support and the ones who are up in arms about their behaviour are the ones who think they've lost a substantial slice of the pie because of their dishonesty.

From what i have read this is an open and shut case - they cheated and lied to to artificially inflate their income to meet FFP requirements. They did so brazenly too. I believe there is also an element of them artificially deflating their expenses by paying players through an "independent" shell co for image rights.

They then lied to UEFA, were wholly uncooperative and belligerent throughout.

They have not offered a single piece of contradictory evidence to refute any of the above and/or those damning emails - no further emails that shed a different light or evidence to suggest the leaked emails were forged or fake.

so bang to rights you'd think.

Yet......they appear to be extremely confident that they will have this whole thing overturned. The lawyers they have would be the best in the business, so what am I missing? Where does this confidence come from? Unless their confidence is as fictitious as their financial statements?

I guess the confidence comes from them always getting their own way and what they want by throwing money at it.

Wouldn't surprise me if the penalty is suspended and then a few weeks later Etihad are the proud new sponsors of UEFA

They're confident because up until now they've bought whatever they want. It now depends on whether UEFA have a price at which they'll sell out every other club under their umbrella. If they do that they might as well bin FFP and while they're at it just name their price for the CL winners.

Yeah I don't see how Uefa can let this drop, if somehow City buy their way out of it, it's just going to make any case Uefa have against clubs going forward worthless. Because every club will go back to the City case as a reference and quesiton why they were allowed to get away with what they did for so long.

I don't doubt money will exchange hands somewhere along the line though.

I can't see the likes of Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern Munich, etc., allowing UEFA to backtrack over this. Once Man City have exhausted all the appeals process UEFA will then move on PSG and put them in their place.

Can see the Chinese being pissed off. They just invested $265m into city. Then find out they've been cheating and are getting a ban. Would like to be a fly on the wall in that meeting.

A Man City fan at my work has said City have evid nice that most the names you mentioned and a few other clubs (wasn't Liverpool, PSG or us) have been doing the same and will take them down with them if they get banned.

Not sure if he's just being a bit bitter as and deluded as still thinks they did nothing wrong anyway.

Not sure how madrid and barca could have done the same, they are owned by the fans. Not like they are going to secretly pump money into the club.

No idea, never got a chance to find out more from him. Back in the office tomorrow so will ask more then.

Only thing he said was PSG are as bad, but hasn't been the same scam as City and others.

Surely this is also a sure-fire way to break FFP protocols:

Loss of earnings? Don't worry, we'll just pump money in from another source...
