It is actually really bad news. No interest in Reguilon or Lo Celso means they’ll be stuck on our books.

I'm not trying to be wise after the fact as I said it when he was signed but what a waste of squad space and money. Doesn't matter if it wasn't large transfer fee it's still been a waste.
Hopefully this will be the last opportunist signing where we only sign a player because we see value in the signing with no plan on where to play him etc

Good luck to the lad hope he smashes it wherever he ends up but we need to learn lesson here.

A free transfer that had a really good pre-season, had 2 assists in 2 starts before he was out for the season.

Not sure that makes it a lesson to be learned tbh.

With plenty of money spent elsewhere, I don't think he was chosen over another £30m signing.

The tweet Paul responded to, was about any news on departures, like reguillon and Lo Celso leaving

This suggests, there is no news and there isn't much interest in them
Fair, don't think it means much, Paul doesn't know everything.

He got a signing on fee and has cost us wages over all that time so he has cost us money.
He's clearly not in anges plans as he didn't get a minute in preseason and was only outfield player who didn't despite being fit and we are now going to loan him. He's not wanted so yes it has been a waste of money and was nothing but an opportunistic signing which has backfired yet again

I feel like there is interest, but the players are playing it smart by winding down their contracts whilst interested parties don't want to pay the fee we would demand, so they are playing the waiting game as well.

Agree, very unlikely that there are zero teams interested in these two decent players - but both players hold most of the cards (albeit both will be aware of how little football they'll play in the next 12 months, especially Reggie - he won't even see a matchday squad). If i had to bet now i'd probably bet on only one being sold and probably the other loaned.....but one way or the other they'll both be gone for the season.

That is the risk you take when you bite the bullet and pay someone to leave like we did with Ndombele. Players see that and say "well why should I leave for somewhere I'm not sure I want to go? I'll just wait until they cut me a check and I can choose where I want to go!"

I think they both want to play football though

ND was a different kettle of fish

Happened in an office where I worked. After management had fucked up disciplinary procedures a couple of times and ended up paying people off, there were people who I am pretty sure were deliberately trying to get themselves lined up for the sack.

We need to be way better at moving players on quickly when it's clear they aren't going to be part of our plans, and while they still have some value.
