I wonder if people’s perception of him would be different if we signed him at his true market value rather than on a dodgy free transfer.

I keep seeing things about letting him go yet if you back to the start of his thread people were generally quite excited about his arrival.

I haven’t seen anywhere near enough of him to make a judgement either way.
Possibly. Like many of our players, I don't truly know what they're like until they start playing for us. We're the only team I watch full matches of regularly.

Until they sign for us I'm going off the few full matches I've seen, highlights, Youtube videos and news articles or fan analysis.

With Solomon I like to think he was bought with a plan. But it's also possible he was bought as a short term player due to his low fee.

I think the talk of letting him go is largely to do with the players we're being linked with plus the fact we already have Son, Johnson, Richarlison etc performing better than he has.

Part of me thinks the timing of his injury and signings since means he just isn't going to get a chance here.

But maybe if the club had spent more money on him I'd have more faith that they really saw something in him.

I know it’s football London but it’s the most recent article I can find.
Hoping he hits the ground running pre season as between him, Werner and potentially Sonny we’re looking really strong on the left.

I’ll be a bit surprised if he is still here at the start of the season. We are running out of roster spaces - and still want to bring in attacking players.

Sending him out on loan is probably
Favourite.

Puts in the shop window and gives the opportunity to prove he can stay fit.

If he excels then we can bring him back.

Isn't there a restriction on the number of loans we can make?

Wonder if Fulham would be interested in taking him back on loan for a year. He had a productive spell there in 22/23, and it looks like Willian is being moved on this Summer.

Think it's best for us that he stays in the Prem for his development if we have any intention of using him in the future.

Not so sure - only 500ish minutes for the season, and only 4 games with 60+ minutes.

He missed a big chunk of time in 22/23 with his first knee injury - 24 minutes in the first game, then missed the next 17 games (until January).

Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2023/24 (Download PDF, size: 16MB), there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.

They are:
- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
- A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.

With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas.

Where who would buy him?

vicious circle
I think a half season loan would be best. Gives him a chance to get some game time and get some match fitness and confidence. We likely don't have much game time for him as it stands.

He should definitely be moved on but I don’t think he’d be to hard to move on, probably be a loan initially because of his injury but there’s a decent player in there for a mid table PL team.

Yeah, he’s probably done here. Loan with certain obligations (appearances) would be ideal, given the circumstances.

He is the only senior outfield player who was unused and not injured in the recent 2 matches in Korea. Surely he will go?
Interesting mabye he’s not ready for matches yet after his big injury? He seemed to offer something a little different when he did play before his injury, had a stormer away at Burnley early in the season and Ange was quoted saying that he was starting to really pick up how we wanted to play, then he got injured.

otherwise if he isn’t in the plans then perhaps he will go on loan.

He played in the early matches, and Ange said everyone was fit to play (except Richi and Udogie, and Werner for 1 match)

It feels very similar to Spence last year - who played in the early match of the tour, but then never got a minute - and was then loaned out.
