While I'm all for people supporting their support for their country/religion, he is also representing our club as well and as such these things are best left to others.
Exactly. I'd be equally concerned if a Muslim player had made a similar post the other way, whatever my personal feelings about the conflict we are not allowed to discuss in here are.

I don't agree with those who say keep politics out of football, because that's just ignoring reality. But there are nuances, and commenting like that on an active war situation falls on the wrong side of that in my opinion.

Think he needs moving on quickly for a number of reasons tbh.

Worth a purchase, no fee, nothing lost. However I think he’s unreliable due to injuries and for the club in general an absolute PR disaster with time on his hands.

I don't like the pile on at all he is getting and I don't just want him banished.

The issue is hugely emotive to many ( a bit too much in my opinion) but this isn't a Jewish guy showing support for Israel . This is an Israeli who is obviously really emotional about it.

He shouldnt be posting about it, he has a a duty to his employer and I suspect the club are pulling their hair out about it but I'll give him far more slack ( as I would someone from Palestine) for feeling so personal and emotional about it that he wants to voice his fears/support.

I don't know what the club should do. Nobody knows how it effects him and how personally he has taken it so just kicking him out doesn't feel right. Maybe a loan to Robbie Keane's team until it all calms down ?

Such a weird situation as after a year at the club I still haven't got a clue if he is good enough.

Not that it necessarily makes it okay, as really he should have known whatever he posts on the matter would probably get out as he has a lot of followers, but I do think it is worth mentioning that his IG account is set to privet. With that in mind he wasn't necessarily making an outward facing statement to the general public.

This is where I think the club need to do much much better.

Solomon was clearly an option because of his situation and the chance to take a 'freebie'.

This is not going to help us short term or long term.

I don't want to see us sign players this summer because of the fee.

The alternative should always be to promote youth.

I know the Solomon situation wasn't a case of Solomon or Donley (for example) but there's no upside to signing a cheap punt when we have a talent coming through.

You don't see the other bigger clubs doing this.

Now that we have supposedly sorted the academy out and have some talent coming through, there's literally no reason to sign Solomon types unless it's a player we've had high on our list or we really don't have any talent good enough coming through.

I hope Ange sees it that way too.
To be fair I thought he looked half decent before he got injured but I get your points.

Yeah I think it's the perfect storm right now, right? I thought he looked good in flashes and really was hoping/thought he had a chance to impress this past season as Perisic picked up his injury. IMO it's extremely hard to judge a player if he's a fit in only 200 minutes of action.

But now, I feel like the way we acquired him, the annoyance of him being hurt all season followed by his social media posts have caused most to want to move on. Totally get it but just keep going back to my original thought of judging a player fit in that little time is pretty tough

yeah I agree but I just don't feel he has that level to go up required.

plus his injury record is a worry

It's a shame he was out all of last season as he may have been able to show he's worth it but with Werner being here and Son the best LWF, along with Moore potentially breaking through. it may not make sense to keep him

Well I really don't think Moore will play LW and I think given Ange's style of play and fact we are in Europe again we could do with 3 LW options so Solomon as a 3rd choice if he can stay fit could be good, also he's more agile and can cut inside and create and shoot whereas Son and certainly Werner are more run in straight lines players.

I do agree, I don't think he'll go up a few levels but I think he's half decent at least.

He looked pretty good in pre-season and when he came on as a sub, reminded me a bit like Aaron Lennon (though not as fast obviously). I had him down to surprise a lot of people. Really weird how long his injury has lasted though.

Wonder if he's in some kind of breach of contract with this war shit he's posting. Not the publicity the club needs.
I actually think he has every right to post what he likes about it . No one knows what he’s going through and I’m sure it’s not shit to him. I don’t see him as speaking for the club and some things are just bigger than football.

Few players in Europe were banned or had their contracts terminated for doing it for pro Palestine Instagram posts. So I would imagine so yes.

How many of them were actually Israeli though? Not defending what he has posted but the context is important, at the end of the day he is Israeli and is probably just posting what many in his country think. I'd much rather he wasn't posting anything political though, same as all players.

I think it was Muslim Arab players supporting Palestine.

The fact he’s posted it on a private account is also relevant here. He’s not acting as a spokesperson for anyone but himself, and so long as he’s not crossing a line into being racist or what have you he’s entitled to his opinion. Not going to get into the ins and out of the conflict over there as that’s a forbidden subject here, but whether you agree with his stance or not, I think it’s important to consider the perspective from which he is seeing these events.

Eh, it's a private account but he has 275k followers so not exactly posting to a small audience.
