A solid preseason and looks to be in with a real shout of being in the first team squad this year. Very talented and it's exciting to see our youth players being given a chance.

He's also been linked with a loan to Premier League clubs. Not sure if it's best for his development to go out on loan or to stay here with us and learn under Ange. Thoughts?

I really believe he has a future at Tottenham.

I think the loan depends on the potential incomings. If there's no left sided defender incoming (next to hopefully Solanke and Neto) I'd put my money on him staying. With that being said a loan could be instrumental in his career as an attacking minded player.

Reckon he'll stay for first 6 months and depending on how involved he is he will go on loan from January

I know it's only pre-season but he seemed to get to grips with the LB role pretty well. Not saying he'll be there forever, but goes to show his willingness to learn and adapt.

He did. I think the primary issue for him there will simply be speed / athleticism. I’m not sure he has that in his locker against top drawer competition in that position. I suppose gentle Ben lacks seriously in that area too, although more used to the art of defending.

I know people are clamouring for an Attacking midfielder, but id give him a chance to compete for this role in the squad.

Just coming in to post that. Not a bad loan, but definitely feel he could have been getting significant minutes in the Championship or even a lower PL team.

Felt the same when I saw the loan. My guess is that the interest ramps up if he plays consistently till january. Might get a case like Devine last year.

Yeah, and honestly if he plays full time for Orient even just for half a season that would be great experience for him. Just felt like he's capable of a higher level.

I think he'll get good minutes. And with it being such a local loan he'll keep his support system around him. Probably even have a small presence at Spurs' training ground during the season.

League 1 is good for his first loan.
Better to make sure he's starting regularly. If he does well, who's to say we won't do a Devine and bump him to the championship come January?

I agree, i thought he really had a great pre season to the point where i'd have been absolutely fine with him getting minutes from the bench on a regular basis - i wouldn't have felt that him playing weakened our XI.

But absolutely better to go to a local club and get loads of guaranteed starts (which he will do) than risk the chance of a 'better' club not playing him as much. Absolutely no doubt he will smash it and i can't wait to see him back with us in 12 months time.

Yeah all good points, I don't hate it. Just kinda frustrates me that our promising youngsters get these kinds of loans despite our academy being one of the best, winning the PL2 last year, the U17s and 18s leagues the year before etc. Whereas if you're City or Liverpool you're guaranteed at least a Championship loan and will play all the time.

Hopefully Jamie does similarly to Devine last year. Go to LO, be their best player and then get a Championship loan in January.

Could simply be a case of our reputation being slightly damaged. Our youth have been struggling for years prior to this generation and haven't done that well out on loans while Pool and City players have.

Think that will change for the better as our youth setup looks far superior throughout the levels compared to before.
