He’s done such a great job apart from that. Oxford have a ton of injuries and are playing a 5-4-1 that leaves Scarlett marooned up front for the most part. He’s pressed intelligently, put himself about really well, made some nice runs and linked the play beautifully at times. Just got subbed because he’s knackered (hopefully).

Got caught offside a couple of times but he’s been up against two really strong defenders and run them ragged. Just such a shame he crucially and unnecessarily gave the ball away. Good touch, used his physicality well, ran himself into the ground, would have scored if the right winger had made the right choice at one point. Very encouraging.

Seems to be coming along now. Happy for him. Whether he makes it at Spurs or not, he’s had a very challenging couple of years and it’s great to see him responding and fighting his way out of it. I hope we keep him next season, and loan Lankshear. Solanke should be a great mentor having had to battle his way back to where he is now.

I’ll say again what I said a couple of weeks ago. It is ridiculous that he isn’t starting every game for them. They are impotent infront of goal.

Of Oxfords last 6 goals, Dane has scored 4 of them.

I sort of understand it after international breaks where the coach might have spent two weeks drilling an idea when Scarlett is away on internationals.

But he seems to be undoubtedly their best forward so no reason why he shouldn't go straight back in the side.

Couldn’t find a video of Dane’s goal on its own but it’s at 1:51 in this video - smart finish.
Oxford United being my local and therefore second team I am delighted at how well he is doing now - was beginning to fear that he might be another talented youngster who falls by the wayside.

edit: terrible ground the kassam. The three sided stadium is the butt of many jokes from visiting fans and the Oxford fans themselves hate it.
When you look to the blank side all you can see is a car park, cinema and all all you can eat/keep down Chinese buffet!.

Proving into a decent loan after a frustrating couple of seasons for Dane, be interesting to see how this continues and what it leads to.

after looking like stagnating our young forwards seem to be getting some forward momentum. First Troy, now Dane, with Lankshear also breaking through with the first team. They won’t all make it with us but at least we’re giving them good career development. So many before just ended up out of the game far too early

He's played 15 minutes across three games since Buckingham was sacked. Not good.

And Oxford have won two of those.

I don't think anyone's really thought he could have a future at Spurs or in the Prem for a couple of years now. But I'd say he's shown he can make in the football league. He's still only 20, so he can improve. His career probably will be belown Championship level, but that still a great life for him. If he can have 10 years in League One or Two, that would be brilliant for him. So many of our hyped young prospects end up playing non professionally or don't even play at all by the time they are 25.

Unused sub today as Oxford won at Millwall. That's three wins in a row under Rowett's management.

Looks solidly out of favour now.

Hopefully we can get a bit of money for him in the summer.

That's a little harsh, a goal every 166 minutes is good going, that's less than a goal every other game. It has been far from a bad loan, infact, it's by far his most succesful one actually.

The change in manager has led to Scarlett being used less. The feeling is that they feel he will be recalled. But the loan has been a good one. There is also a feeling Scarlett is not exactly a happy bunny at Oxford. I can understand why. He is by far Oxfords most reliable goalscorer. But even before the managerial change the managers stick with Harris and don't give him a couple of games that I suspect he feels he deserves. Some Oxford fans would argue that this is because Harris is better for the team, works harder and is more sacrificial.

Where will he end up? It's hard to say for sure. But, let's put it this way. He is scoring at a much higher rate than Liam Delap was last year in the championship. He also has done a lot better than Parrott ever did in the championship. Both, I would say, are currently PL quality.

In this loan he has shown he can score goals at that level. If a club were invested in him and saw him as their own player, not a loan that was willling to trust him, I think you will see more out of him.

I, personally, do not yet think the club should instantly give up on Scarlett. He has shown a lot of development this loan an, well, we would have sold Harry Kane if you expect players to absolutely boss it when on loan every time. I think the best thing to do is recall him. See how he does in training and then decide to loan him or Lankshear out in January.

That's not a bad idea actually, call Scarlett back and find a good loan for Will.
Lankshear needs to be playing to continue to build on last season but I don't think he's ready to be what is basically our second choice.

Scarlett has that bit more age and experience and may be the better option to stand in for Richy, who I've given up hope of ever being fit.

Wouldn't surprise me if we keep Will at the club until summer. If we do, he counts as club-trained and would be able to freely go out on loan after that.
Seeing the position we're in now without any decent club-trained players, and how it affects us in Europe, I don't think it can be understated how important it is to set ourselves up well for the future in this regard.

Came in after 10 mins with Harris injured. If Harris is out for longer time, might get good run on XI

Not sure whether they’d go for him, but if he gets recalled he could do worse than a loan at Watford.
They badly need a striker as their two options up front are bayo (unreliable, dodgy touch but presses well) and jebbison (abysmal). He’s definitely get game time albeit in a defensive and functional team.
no idea if we do business with Watford either, just know them well as I often get to watch them.
