Went and had a nose on the Oxford Utd forum to see what they make of his loan. Seems to be fitting in and getting some appreciation.

"Whilst this is not the best reason for playing him......there's also no way that Spurs are going to leave Scarlett with us after January if all he's getting is 15-20 off the bench. They didn't last year at Ipswich, and they're even less likely to now he's another year older. They need him to get minutes if he's going to develop as a footballer, either to break into their own team or to increase his transfer value.

Either we give him a shot to see what he can do, or we look elsewhere in January.

I think I've seen enough over the past few games that I want to see what he can do from the start in a game or two (coupled with Sparky clearly looking like a player in need of a breather), and I reckon we might end up kicking ourselves if we wave goodbye without giving him a proper chance. That header was a proper finish."

"Aside from the very nicely taken goal his all round game was very good last night, he held the ball up and linked play brilliantly at times against some uncompromising centre backs. Harris is a useful option to call on but as it stands Scarlett has wrestled the starting spot off him. Delighted for him and shows again how important it is to build a proper squad where no one's position is safe."

"I think it's good business that Scarlett is getting more game time so Spurs will see that he isn't just warming the bench.
Though I'm sure DB is playing him on merit rather than feeling forced to play him to justify the loan."

we have a player thread for Scarlett, so you may ask the admin to move the thread to loan watch
I messaged the original player thread starter, who I assume is the admin as he's also staff, but have not yet received a reply.

Subbed on 51 minutes today away at Sunderland, so a bit of a bump in the road for him given recent successes.
Looks like he is playing as a lone striker, which might not suit him at this stage of his career, but hope he rises to the challenge.

Lone striker away at the best side in the Championship so far this season. Not a game he was likely to thrive in.

He actually played 81 minutes, not 51. 51 was the minute he got booked in.

Best (realistic) case is maybe doing a Parrot. Strong end to the season seeing him hit double figures that prompts an offer where we can insert a buyback and sell on fee.

I’m impressed that he has got ahead of Harris (in the main striker berth) as Harris started the season on a scoring streak. Then he’s got a couple of goals - will be interesting how the it goes up to christmas

He is on fire. Hopefully this is a bit of a breakthrough. He has a very high ceiling.

He has 3 goals in 262 minutes. That's a rate of a goal in every 87 minutes. He has forced himself into a team initially reluctant to use him. Good on him. Great learning experience.

Ridiculous that he didn’t start. Almost like the manager doesn’t like him. Harris is going through a very bad patch and missed an absolute sitter yesterday. Scarlett came on, laid one on a plate for one of his fellow players and scored a great goal.

Perhaps if the manager used him more, Oxford would be higher than 19th.

think the biggest compliment i can give of his performance so far is that it was very solanke-like. he doesn't have solanke's height or physicality but he's really putting himself about against two big centre backs and given them a tough ride. on the ball he's had some nice touches and linked play well but not had much in the way of service. you can also visibly see that he's playing with more belief now.

He had a slow start in championship
, but he is starting to find his feet which is great to see.

An unfortunate pass from Dane set off the counter attack that led to a Watford goal.

Such a pity. He’s not put a foot wrong really then with a chance to make a simple pass wide he undercooks it, Watford break and score.

Scarlett coming off and my interest in this match has ended. He's done well, shame about that poor pass.
