We probably didn't lose those games because of the vast number of game saving stops he makes time after time after time...

Which ones? Villa had 4 shots on target and 2 went in, Southampton had 3 shots on target and 2 went in. He comes up with these saves (that people seem to be remembering from 5 years ago) far less than his brain farting mistakes. Weighing the pros and cons he is a net con right now and has been for a long time.

Yes but we MIGHT have lost them. Those ten saves he made are cancelled out by a 'mistake' that MIGHT have cost a goal.

And lets face it, what passes for a mistake on SC has a very VERY low threshold.

Jesus, the levels of ridiculousness on here are sometimes mucho grande.

MIGHT? They DID!

Every mistake he makes costs a goal does it, or is every goal we concede now down to him too. Now it's Villa had X shots, Southampton had X shots, the way you're working it out there isn't a goalkeeper in the world who's any good.

Out of interest, how many shots on target should occur before a goal is conceded? What's your threshold on that. Seeing as you're making stuff up to beat him with.

Ok. When I posted a message on the following lines in the match thread I received quite a bit of flak, but as I stand by what I said so im going to try and trigger some debate. So here goes:

I have never rated Hugo Lloris as a top goal keeper. I agree he is athletic and can be a decent showstopper. He sweeps reasonably well although his kicking is not always the best.

But quite simply he doesn't bring a sense of calmness and control to the box. He makes too many mistakes and does not command the box. He stays on the line too much and does not look to gather crosses.

I actually think Paolo Gazzaniga is a more consistent goalkeeper. He always gathers well but perhaps does not match Hugo when it comes to the flying saves. I personally prefer him in goal.

Besides the following screw ups - including the World Cup Final - he also was out for several months this season because of a what happened from an absolute howler. I don't normally like picking on a player this much but I wouldn't be surprised if Jose is on the look out for a Peter Cech type keeper. Steady and commanding with good positional sense.

Agree entirely, time for Captain Calamity to go BUT who do we replace him with?

Seriously? He makes at least one, often two, world class saves every game.

I cannot believe this same argument is being had year after year after year. Honestly, I genuinely think Spurs fans struggle with acknowledging that we have excellent footballers at their club. I see it in every player thread. There has to be something that makes them "not good enough". Hell, we did it with the best manager we've had since Burkinshaw. Here we are with one of the best keepers in the world, over 7 seasons he's been with us, and there are those who will never be convinced.

I think people have forgotten the amount of dodgy goal keepers we have had in the past

Lets face it all goalkeepers will make mistakes and when they do it normally costs a goal. If you are looking for a keeper who doesn't make mistakes you're in for a long wait.

For all those who think Lloris is a liability, I'm interested to know who they are comparing him against?

Which goalkeeper in the Premier League commits fewer mistakes errors that lead to goals and has a higher shot save percentage than Hugo?

if im a billionaire, i will buy the club. And build statues of Hugo Lloris outside, inside and on the pitch of Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium.
