If the game isn't postponed i'd like to think we as a club would forfeit the match if the players weren't comfortable.

I'd imagine Levy is doing his best to not throw Orient under the bus and pushing the FA to make a decision.

Worth a read of the Orient forum...

I heard from a reliable source that at least18 in squad, players and staff tested positive. Also they are trying to muster up a team to play the match so they can get the money! May field a team of youngsters!

Sounds like, from what I've heard, Spurs aint keen on playing the youth team; just in case they get infected. Can understand that, especially with the Europa League coming up.

We need to show Spurs some respect and withdraw.
It would be unfair if any of their players or management contracted the virus due to our insistence on playing the match.

Also I think Spurs did a noble thing offering to pay for the testing.

Why should we give them 100k? Needs to be clarified if that could have been better prevented by Leyton in the first place.
Help them with their charity, maybe give them a friendly when audience is allowed again but other than that it is not our task to compensate them.

If they field a team of negative tested Under 18s, that could mean a busy day for my Goals&Assists thread lol.

There was a game recently where 1 team had a confirmed covid case so they had to field a youth side to not forefit the game.
Can't remember the teams but I am assuming something similar is being discussed for this game

That would only be part of the problem though. They'd need to deep clean the stadium, they probably need to test non-playing/admin staff who've been around the players. There's a lot to do in a short space of time.

The stadium has been closed though along with the number of cases I just cannot see why or how it could go ahead. They don't have a training ground like ours to separate first and academy teams do they? Surely they entire club near enough has to isolate. Then trace back. They played Plymouth in the cup last week and Mansfield at the weekend. This could have already got out of control.

You're right it's not our task to compensate them, but it'll be a nice gesture from yes to help them out in such a fucked up time we're currently in.

Any other team in the country and you would be right, but we have a history with them as our true neighbours and as a great club
This could well send them under, they will need all the help they can get to survive, 100k is honestly neither here nor there for us but could help them enormously, and given the bye into the next round would also help us play one less game...
whilst the 2 are not directly connected, it will help them swallow a bitter pill.

On the surface it's easy to agree with the sentiment. However, lower league teams are absolutely screwed as it stands. Without the lower leagues football in the UK loses its heart and hundreds of thousands lose their jobs. Here we are splashing millions on players whilst many are thinking about losing their jobs. It's not Tottenham's problem to solve but there needs to be some empathy from the Premier League clubs and actual policy and support from the FA and leagues.

I doubt very much we as a club could just give them 100k without being in breech of fa rules. Surely immediately throws up a conflict of interests. Imagine being drawn against them and hammering them in the FA cup in January for instance.

I know exactly what you mean. I am working at a German 5th division club and god the last half a year was challenging with not so much positivity in sight.
I agree there should maybe be a pot every Premier League club needs to chunk a million in or so and that gets spread to the lower leagues, in addition of a bonus by the FA if they care about the semi pro clubs. Personally I just don't see it justified in this special case, where it was probably (needs to be cleared) a bit careless of Leyton, because according to rumours you could maybe have seen that coming.

You think we should drop out of the competition because their players tested positive?!

I'm 100% sure we'd sort out a way to see them right through it too, financially.

I mean Kane's sponsoring their shirts for gawds sake, so the ties between the clubs are strong.

Mad to put everyone at risk for the pay day, and too late to test any ringers they might be able to bring in.

Seems obvious but I guess there's all sorts of legalities to be worked through.

There is no way we should be playing this game. Not just because the 1st team catching it would affect our season... But because we are in a global pandemic and its more important that orient isolate and stop the spread to players, staff, family members of players and staff etc... If we need to donate 100k to them as a nice jesture, then let's do it.

No way should we forfeit. If we get a bye then we only need to win four games to get a trophy...
