Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has been left seething after Victor Wanyama snubbed a last-gasp transfer to Club Brugges.

The Spurs chief spent weeks negotiating the permanent exit of the central midfielder, 28, after he had slipped down the pecking order in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Clickbait journalism!

“A Tottenham source has revealed... <write something I’m making up that sounds plausible>.”

I hate the portrayal of Levy by the media. He is always portrayed as money grabbing, bad tempered and devious. He is given no credit for his achievements at Spurs.

He does get a lot of credit for being a very good businessman whenever I hear people talking about him on the radio. Yes, there are always the stories about how difficult he can be in negotiations but whether he gets it right or wrong, he does it in the best interests of the club. In this case, even if he is seething, I wouldn't blame him - he has spent probably a lot of time negotiating a deal and he will now see that as time wasted. That said, it's Wanyama's right to turn down the deal. If he was in better physical shape, I would be delighted to see him staying.

This sounds like the media is being fairly anti-semitic in how they potray the chairman.
As a non-Jewish American outsider and supporter since Martin Jol, I find it curious that the UK media and parts of the British Jewish community are insistent about the support's use of the word "Yiddo". The same community is simultaneously silent in regards to the media articles regularly referring to our Jewish chairman, Daniel Levy, as a cheap bastard negotiator every transfer window.
I freely admit to being biased, as part of my love of this club due to the club/supporters stance against racism while the other part is due to Ledley King...

The irony is that the media present Chelsea as a beacon of light on racism. This is the club with a shameful record on racism and anti-semitism.

I don't see it as anti semitic. They just portray Levy as a hard nosed businessman who wrings every drop out of each deal - which is precisely what he does.

It's a record that goes back over 50 years by now, and the club hasn't done much, if anything, to fix the problem.

Jesus, you'd think he'd want to move and escape the Spurs injury curse.

I think you’ll find most successful businessmen are “hard nosed”
I would imagine he is pissed off if he’s wasted time negotiating such a deal for nothing

I loved Big Vic but time to move on

I knew the girlfriend of a player once at spurs and he would, I guess it's fair to say was outside of the team though not really deadwood. He wanted to go manager was happy but according to her "that horrible little man" was being difficult about the departure...."he's soo greedy".

I rate levy highly, I love him, best charmain in my years. But he is greedy. Maybe why we love him.

Not greedy, he is doing his job trying to get the best deal for spurs. It's not like that money goes in his pocket. It would be spent on a replacement.

Onions.. We all see differently

I think he's greedy, I think he's relentlessly difficult and stubborn. I like him like he is. I think he is an amazing chairman and love him. Wouldn't change him for anyone. Totally changed our club and how it's veiwed. Hope he dies with us. I give him credit and I recognise. He's a character and he's become known. All my arsenal mates wish he was theirs... That said a lot. I wasn't insulting him, merely observing. The horrible little man has my respect. He ours.

It's not anti-semitic. Levy is a tough negotiator. The media may sometimes criticise him, but I've never read any anti-semitism, or implied anti-semitism in their remarks. Neither have I ever seen any article 'regularly referring' to DL as 'a cheap bastard'. I have seen and heard in the media, however, from time to time, comments praising Levy for the way he runs Spurs.

He's a brilliant business man and negotiatior and he will always have his detractors and people who dislike his way, or manner, of handling business, just like Sir Alan Sugar did.
But Levy has, by far, a better knowledge of dealing with footballers and their agents/representatives than Sir Alan did.
I hear a lot of anti semitism regarding us and Levy, in fact I rarely hear him being called by his proper name when he is the subject of the conversation or talks.
