I tend to agree but we’ve now got a tangible yardstick of which to compare the board/Levy’s vision to what transpires on the pitch.I'll be surprised of we spend "big" on more than 1 player this summer - even with some high profile outs. Maybe 2 - if Romero leaves.
I get the impression that the club strategy is to build slowly, and methodically, rather than quickly. The core of the squad right now - is about 1-2 years away from being near their best. I think the strategy will be to stick with that plan, and every year add 2-3 high profile younger players and 1, maybe 2, experienced players. So, that, in the future, with proper development, there will be a yearly wave of young players reaching their peak - and that will be a sustainable run at a high level.
Competing for league titles and Champions League success flies directly in the face of having an abnormally low wage:turnover ratio for instance so let’s see if we witness a reversal of this trend or not.
