Why has Levy not sold naming rights for the new stadium yet, it's been open 5 years so it's going to be very hard for it to be known anything other than the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium going forward.

I think I’ve read somewhere of him saying, or second hand info of him apparently saying, that having it as the Tottenham Hotspur stadium is great for brand recognition and brings in loads of money that’s it’s almost not worth having a naming rights deal. How true that is I have no idea.

There are restrictions on what stadiums can be called in certain sports/events, and then for NFL they need to approve the name also, so could be a lot of different red tape to cross to appease all areas.

So the only reason I can see for is not getting one so far is that the income we get for having these other sports/events come in outweighs the yearly fee we would get for sponsorship and pushes the Tottenham brand around the world at the same time (so they would hope for more merchandise sales I guess) that's my only logical guess on it, and could be totally wrong.

Club just sent an email re away fans in the home end.

I didn't see that. Obviously goes on and needs to be stopped, not least of all because it stops people giving up season tickets to fans that want to attend.

If it is true, it only seems to be because of the level of events the stadium can attract.

We like to make jokes about Beyoncé playing there and other numerous events but it does get the Tottenham name mentioned and known to a wide worldwide audience.

It's a shame Levy doesn't invest enough in the team to win a few trophies. That would get the club's name known worldwide.

In the US you see Chelsea, City, even Arsenal shirts, you don’t see Spurs as no kid is going to support Tottenham because Beyonce played at their stadium, success is the recognition you need worldwide if you really want to make money out of it.

ENIC are into property and events to make money, they obviously see success risk to cost ratio as less attractive. Tottenham stadium mentioned world wide means nothing, most of the people I talk to still have no idea who Tottenham even are, they don’t even acknowledge ‘oh that’s the place Beyonce played at’ as that isn’t important info, they know who Chelsea and City are though…

ENIC I’m sure like everything else know this and just want a better price for rights, much like hanging on Ndombele or LoCelso they find it hard to accept less even though that would be the better option, but at the end of the day they just make that back in other ventures they deem important such as hotels or more events, they know they are sitting on a pot of gold no matter what…

Cool story.

The point was just about whether more money is generated by selling naming rights or keeping it The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Yes and I didn’t even get a discount.
Well unless you're LITERALLY the bastard son of Daniel Levy, why would you get one, because you spend hundreds pounds on a Season ticket etc? Pffffft, loyalty gets you NOTHING.

Makes for utterly depressing reading, Newcastle likely overtaken us this season which will put us in 8th. 9th biggest revenue in world football yet 7-8th highest wage payers in own league.
