We laugh at the pikey scum, and rightly so, but it also shows how far we have come and how difficult it is to make the step up.

They have to pay big money for has-beens and nearly-players because nobody wants to go there unless they get serious money. If they sign a decent player he wants to leave if they develop a decent player, he wants to leave. As a result there is never any continuity.

So with the way the top 6 or 8 is in the prem they literally have no chance whatsoever to become bigger than they are.

Levi has performed an absolute miracle to get us here!

Today's stat of the day to share with West Ham supporting friends and colleagues

It's now been nearly three years since West Ham last registered a point in August (back on 21 August 2016).

Since then, their record reads:

Played 8
Lost 8
Scored 5
Conceded 27

:joyful:

Never change, West Ham. Never change.

To be fair they ummm... No, sorry I'm drawing a blank.

I guess they had a chance to go 2-1 down but they blew it.

It's a good thing that we haven't played them in August for a few seasons, because that record would probably be a bit different. Please let them get relegated ASAP, if only to stop us dropping points so carelessly against them.

Not to worry, we've got VAR at the back (y)
...and Pellegrini's been very quick and vocal in drawing attention to Man City's tactical fouling to prevent opponents attacking them on the break. We can only hope that referees start to notice this and start brandishing yellow cards for what is obviously deliberate foul play. (I'm not holding my breath on this one, though.)

Well... we're just as good/bad at that as they are, so...

Yeah, we're pretty cynical foulers these days, not that I mind; we were too soft for a while
Pretty sure we topped that stat a couple of seasons ago. In fact I'd say we're one of the best teams around at turnovers in the opposition half. Look at how Lamela and Lucas were chasing down and winning the ball yesterday.

I heard from a West Ham friend last night that if VAR was in last season West Ham would have finished 3rd! My brother said he seen this as well. Anyone else heard of it?

Would love to know the details behind this ???
West Ham could finish 3rd in a 3 team league but no way in the Premier League. Seriously though, there are tons of sites with so called "what the table would have looked like with VAR" and they vary so much depending on what team the maker supports. The most realistic I saw was Man City, Chelsea, then either Liverpool or Spurs and finally Watford/ Man Utd depending on which table you are looking at.

I think VAR can work with rules in place but teams are already moaning as they get caught more often and say it is ruining the game. If there is no foul then the VAR shows it so not sure how it ruins the match other than slowing play down at times. I think they need to adopt the rules from other sports such as who can make a replay request, what type of situation it must be such as build up to a scoring opportunity and how many times it can be requested. VAR works very well in a number of sports, some faster paced that football, some slower Like NHL Ice Hockey, Basketball, Cricket and American Football.

Regardless though, West Ham suck and spend half the season in a relegation battle after being mid table before Xmas so no way they would have got Champions League. Also worth noting that most of the calls VAR would have changed in many games were fouls made by West Ham players

Agreed. No way liverpool would have finished 1st with var. I'm sure they won 15-20 points through offside goals and Salah dives.

Besides the fact that if the first goal in a game is disallowed, or one part of history is changed anything after that isnt guaranteed to happen

This is the most important point, and one that is seemingly constantly overlooked.

As soon as one (even tiny) decision is changed the result becomes "Unknown"
