I don't get Zirkzee, I mean he's clearly a good player but he's not a striker, a false 9 maybe. But I have no idea how he fits into this United team, bizarre signing.

United should just go back to being a counter attack team, RVN had the right idea with his side against Chelsea, two defensive mids Fernandes free role and fast players up top.

Amorim is in for a surprise, if he starts trying to play 3 at the back I'd amazed if things got any better.

It's just a shitshow of a club right now, I'm pretty sure an inexperienced manager whose only experience was in Portugal is not going to help things either.
Zirkzee is a false 9 and on paper he doesn't fit the new system.

I think Amorim will try his system and then adapt to something else to fit the players for this season.

Those in charge really fucked up by not sacking Ten Haag in the summer.

They talked to other managers, got rejected by Tuchel, gave Ten Haag a new contract, signed more players for him only to sack him a few weeks later.

They're lucky they have the academy to lean on.

Yep, although I have the sneaking suspicion that Amorim will be the managerial equivalent of signing Zirkzee. I actually don't think there is a manager that could work there considering how it is behind the scenes.

They should have sacked ETH in the summer but that would involve being decisive and actually having a plan.

Weird signings in the summer and now an early season manager change. It's hard to imagine what sort of system could incorporate the players they have before you consider how a new manager who has no experience in the PL with a specialised formation would work.

They just seem to be throwing darts blindfolded at the moment.

Amorim will get the older players out as soon as he can.

I think Bruno will be a surprise exit because he's the captain and has been part of the shower of shite the last few years.

Amorim will want to clear out all the egos/voices that could go against him and have a bunch of impressionable players.

That's what he did at Sporting and what someone told me today.

So Rashford, Eriksen, Bruno, Casemiro, Shaw, etc will all be shown the door.

Don't think he will want big money signings either.

It's exactly what Ten Hag should have done and United gave him access to do that but he was adamant about his ex players

Never has false 9 had such unintended meaning.

Interesting reports Zirkzee was not wanted by Ten Hag and arrived a stone overweight.

We've all seen before how much managers like a "club" signing.

It will take a few years yet, but this guy will get United back competing I reckon.

Apparently they're close to the PSR line, getting rid of those players will cost them a lot of money.

I feel sorry for this new Portuguese dude, United players have done this for a decade or more. Play well with a new manager, then someone doesn’t get on, they down tools, rinse and repeat.

Unless he manages to get them all on board. I feel that Ten hag couldn't do that fully.

Tbf ETH was a bit dull, and robotic. Bruno is a baller when he can be assed, if he gets his fello countryman on side it could make the difference. United don’t have bad players they lack in some areas but they have players there.

Still I fell managers get hung out to dry in modern football, it’s not as if players don’t know the basics, work hard, pass a ball 6ft, don’t switch off, tackle etc etc. I think as fans these days we think all this basic shit is on the manager. It’s really, really not, the finer details like when to press, where your line is, short or long, yes manager details. Putting a shift in is on the player.

The club just continue to defy logic. Selling their most influential midfielder to Napoli for not much money. The best move for them would have been keeping van Nistelrooy until the end of the season allowing Amorim to finish off at Sporting with another title and giving him the pre-season to get some players in he needs and remove some off the wage bill. They are a banter club

The tension has already begun.

Ruben Amorim has asked Manchester United to make a change to his media duties after being interrupted on live TV by Ed Sheeran.

The new United manager ended his first proper week in the job with a 1-1 draw away at Ipswich, which saw Marcus Rashford open the scoring inside 90 seconds. However, Ipswich equalised before half-time and arguably deserved to win the game.

It was a disappointing end to a busy week for Amorim, who saw his final media duties with Sky Sports interrupted by massive Ipswich fan Sheeran's desire to greet Jamie Redknapp. Sheeran was heard quipping that "I don't think [Amorim] wants to speak to me" before heading out of shot.

Sheeran has since apologised, writing on Instagram: "Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday, didn't actually realise he was being interviewed at the time, was popping to say hi and bye to Jamie. Obvz feel a bit of a b***end but life goes on. Great game though, congrats on all involved x."

Amorim had earlier joked that he has spoken more in a week in Manchester than he did during four years with Sporting Lisbon.

He said: "This week I spoke more to the media than I did in four years at Sporting. I just want to work with my players. Nothing more."

Welcome to the Premier League. He really should've realised before taking the job what sort of circus he was joining. Having so many former UTD players as pundits means they are always going to be subject to more media scrutiny than the rest of the teams in the league.

It's brilliant really as they are part of guiding this negative narrative.

United are raising ticket prices mid season and getting rid of all concessions. Kids tickets will go from £25 to £66. We know Levy loves a price rise but even he wouldn't do it mid season. Absolute piss take.

More fool the idiots that pay it. Don't pay and they will soon reduce the prices.
