Great appointment for them. Him maybe not so much if they don't sort out their transfer dealings.
He’s got a relatively short 2.5 years contract whereby he’s got to turn things around pretty quickly and looking at that squad he’s inherited is not a quick fix. He’s got a lot of expensive dead wood to shift before buying his own players.

On the other hand, perhaps he's been able to insist on the same latitude as Maresca at Chelsea, i.e. "I'll only work with the 2 dozen players who I can trust. What you do with the rest of them isn't my problem."

Hojlund probably rules that out
I think Højlund has enough about him to perhaps be developed the way Amorim developed Gyökeres.

But Zirkzee looks a complete flop to me, so United surely need another forward anyway. Harsh to call him a flop already I know, especially in such a malfunctioning team and with injuries, but I have no confidence in him to thrive in the way I feel fairly confident Højlund will.

It’ll be interesting to see how flexible he is as a coach. His success seems to be based on 3-4-3 but United appear to have a few key issues with that.
No wing-backs, other than perma-crocked Shaw. Fernandes wouldn’t play central, similarly Mount and Eriksen.
Can he adapt? Or will they need more signings again?

There are a lot of average players in that team. It won't happen overnight regardless of how flexible he is.

Still trying to figure out how Mainoo and garnacho were up for balloon d’or.

problem Is they tend to overhype any glimmer of talent, they end up on massive wages very early and it ruins most of them by the times theyre 20.

Completely forgot about Mason Mount. The epitome of buying shite for obscene amount of money

Watching Hojlund and at £70m he’s absolute shite
I think that's maybe a bit harsh and I see more potential in him than I do in Zirkzee so far.
I'll admit that I don't pay that much attention to anyone other than Spurs but Hojlund does seem to have the raw attributes to be moulded into something decent at the very least.

It's early days for Zirkzee but he does seem a bit of a lumbering lump so far.

There's a lot of work for Amorim to do with that squad and it's going to take a fair amount of money to improve, especially if he's going to want to dip into the Portuguese market.
United have gained a reputation for overpaying and a lot of teams will want a piece of that.

Zirkzee needs runners off the ball and Hojlund should be allowed to roam (upfront) like he did in a front three at Atalanta, he isn't a target man.

Utd have little movement, everything they do is generic and has no purpose. The ball striking of all their attackers is also very poor.

Bruno Fernandes needs to be reigned in a bit, he's very productive but he has too much freedom in a team with zero structure.

You scout players, sign players and then don't put them in a system that gets the best out of them... sounds familiar.

Good luck to Amorim.

Pace wise I never realised until yesterday how bloody slow he is. He looked like he was running through treacle.

Yeah, I mean he should be given time to adapt but he just looks like an old fashioned target man from the 90's so far, offering not much else.

I know he wasn't that much money (what? 30mill?) but why Utd decided to buy him and then sack the manager just sums them up of late.
I dread to think how much they've spent on players for ETH, even when we all knew they weren't convinced by him for a while now.
Utter clown show because I'm really not sure any of the players they've bought of late are PL level players.

I don't get Zirkzee, I mean he's clearly a good player but he's not a striker, a false 9 maybe. But I have no idea how he fits into this United team, bizarre signing.

United should just go back to being a counter attack team, RVN had the right idea with his side against Chelsea, two defensive mids Fernandes free role and fast players up top.

Amorim is in for a surprise, if he starts trying to play 3 at the back I'd amazed if things got any better.

It's just a shitshow of a club right now, I'm pretty sure an inexperienced manager whose only experience was in Portugal is not going to help things either.
