It's going to take them absolutely years to clear the dross out of this squad as it has done us. They're lucky that they bank so much they can better afford to let players sod off on loan and run their contracts down, because nobody is paying any real money for some of their squad. Most of them have been signed in the past 3 years for decent amounts. Could set them back for a long time to come

Excellent.
They need to move on Eriksen, Casimero, Anthony, Maguire, Mount, Evans, Linderloft and Rashford just for starters.

If Saudi clubs aren't interested they're going to lose so much money on some of those. They'll all be on big wages and who's going to pay a decent transfer fee for any of them?

The main issue with Manchester United is that they're Manchester United. We've seen with Mainoo and Garnacho that they can develop some decent players, and the most helpful thing for them would probably be to focus on that, but because they're Manchester United they have to spend to show they're still important, and the result is that squad. Ashley Young mentioned in the preamble that United are fighting for top four and that's not acceptable, suggesting we've probably got lower ambitions, but we've finished above United more often than not post-Ferguson. I don't know how that gap between expectation and reality can be fixed.

How it's definitely *not* fixed is by flirting with other managers all summer, reluctantly giving the current one a reprieve and a pity contract extension, and *then* letting him spend hundreds of millions of pounds on more players he knows (seriously it's mad how many of his ex-lads he's signed and yet they're so incoherent tactically). Some accuse Levy of being too cautious, but United are the opposite. If Levy was stalling at a fork in the road, United's car has split apart and is now going in both directions at once.

Very true. Yet given United's proposenity to turn gold into shit I genuinelly fear for these two. They need new clubs. And quick, otherwise they'll start to regress with that shitshow going on in the background.

Now I don't know if this is true or not but hilarious if so

For those without Twitter or block it:

Gary Neville at Valencia • 28 games • 11 losses • 39 goals • 38 goals conceded
Ten Hag • last 28 games • 13 losses • 35 goals • 45 goals conceded

Still can’t work out why he took Mainoo off after the red and replaced him with mount, absolutely bonkers.

If you watch it back, in the build up to the Fernandes red card, Mainoo loses the ball and then goes down holding the back of his knee / thigh so im guessing he was injured which means that along with the Fernandes 3 game ban they will probably also lose Mainoo for a few of those too.

I think they can appeal the red card.

Not too worry they’ve got plenty of legs in Casimiro and Eriksen to come in😂😂😂🤣

I just saw that only Southampton have scored fewer goals than United this season, and they're yet to play their 6th game. :nailbiting:

I don't get why people at surprised at this. They finished 8th last season with a goal difference of minus one. They were awful for a team with the money they've spent in front of goal.

Last season in all fairness they had the excuse that they'd been decimated by injuries - I think any team would struggle with the scale of what they had. When they got their players fit again at the end of the season they beat City in the cup final.

This season there's no excuse - they've looked shite across the board and that's why the knives are rightfully out for ten Hag

People bought into Ten Hag's excuses about injuries. Really he's just a crap manager with no personality and that's the main issue

Look at Sancho playing well at Chelsea now. Players who leave somehow are good again at new clubs.

I also don't really get the hype with Garnacho. He is decent enough but he doesn't strike me of someone with a particularly good skill set. He is just fairly fast & can score a goal every now & then. Nothing I see of him has me believing he is destined for the top or anything like that.

TBF he's had a fairly decent impact already for his age. Whether he goes on to be a top class player is anyone's guess but he's done well enough so far at a club that has been a shambles behind the scenes imo. He may be getting a little bit over hyped due to the fact he's been a bright spark when everything around him(other than Mainoo) has been a bit dull and lacklustre.

He was unlucky not to get a couple yesterday tbh, and he never stopped chasing down lost causes despite the rest of his team giving up.

Mainoo and Garnacho are the two positives for United. Garnacho always impresses me when I see him play. At least he gives it a go unlike the older bunch. Struck the post yesterday with a decent effort.
