Andy Goldstein - the Sportsbar is in the same studio as Alan Brazil's breakfast team. Commenting about the mic baffle - "This thing stinks. I'm afraid that if I breath too close to it I'll be over the limit for the drive home"

:D :D :D Enabling alcoholism for comedy - yay! I mean, still made me laugh, but.... yay!

I'm coming to the conclusion that Max Rushden and the weekend team are the only presenters who actually entertain me on this station anymore.

Such a bunch of twats, they crack me up.

Simon Jordan’s good because he has genuine opinions, that he can back up, rather than just following the the sensationalist clickbait lowest common denominator bollocks

Him and Andros Townsend having a ding dong on Friday was a good listen.

I've really grown to like Jordan over the last couple of years on there. Perhaps it's because he took such a barracking so regularly when he was at Palace, from the press and fans, always came across as bullish and argumentative but nobody listened because he had that image of being a red-braces type wanker.

This isn't meant in the traditional insult way but he really does suit radio better. He has time to properly order his argument, get his facts straight and construct interviews and arguments in a way that's far, far more productive than most of the fluff bullshit presenters like Jim White blurt out.

He's probably still unbearable after a pint or when you get him going on something he actually cares about, but as a presenter I like him a lot.

And there it is something I've suspected, there's a thin undercurrent of anti-semitism from some people against Daniel Levy because he's seen as a 'Jew' and therefore someone who is tight with money and doesn't spend which is where I think some of the anti Levy narrative comes from.

This is obviously just one person who said it but some of the hate against Levy seems forced and OTT and some of the narratives that surround him are unfounded when you dive into them.

I wouldn't even call it 'thin' tbh.

All of TS is on a delay so they can hit the dump button for this sort of thing, I imagine some producer got a kicking for letting that go out, the station will get fined heavily for this.

If a radio station gets punished immediately for this kind of content then is it any surprise that all the nutters congregate on Twitter where regulators do nothing about similar content?
Regulators need to even the playing field IMO

I'm sure this kind of thing happens quite often; however, the comments don't usually make it onto the air. With a radio phone-in, you never know what kind of nutter you're going to get on the end of the line, which is why they vet callers and broadcast with a delay.

Sadly, I think the Club is spot on about how antisemitism is not being taken seriously enough.

They don't even mention racism or anti semitism in their apology.

Feels like it's not the right kind of discrimination to get outraged by for the media.

Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

Wonder how Talksport will respond to this.
A caller phoned The Sports Bar on talkSPORT and made an offensive remark about Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy. This was broadcast live on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, despite being ‘dumped’ on air, meaning it was not broadcast on our radio channels.

Head of talkSPORT, Lee Clayton has released the following apology: “We are all appalled by the comment that was made by a caller during a live YouTube broadcast of The Sports Bar. There is absolutely no room for discrimination of any kind in society.

“We are deeply sorry to Tottenham and, especially, to chairman Daniel Levy, as well as their supporters and the Jewish community for the offence caused by this hateful comment, which should never have been broadcast.

“The comment was rightly dumped on our radio station, where we broadcast with a slight delay to ensure any unexpected and inappropriate comments don’t make it to air. It was, however, streamed live on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, which we are currently testing and which awaits a similar profanity/offence delay. Our team did not take our YouTube stream into consideration and therefore the comments were not challenged as they should have been for our viewers on YouTube.

“It is unacceptable that the comment appeared anywhere and as broadcast partners of the Premier League, we take our position very seriously. We are comprehensively reviewing all of our processes, involving our teams across programming, social media and compliance.
“We have suspended live broadcasting on YouTube until we can be sure we have the same processes and protections in place as we have for our radio broadcasting.”

Amazing how outraged people are that we actually want something other than a bargain for Kane. That's the root of this.

I do think there's very casual antisemitic things that are referenced with the club, just because we happen to be financially competent and have sort-of Jewish ownership
