A massive fine is not a punishment for a team owned by Abu Dhabi, a billion even would be pocket change. The isn’t a ‘conspiracy’ theory like some 9/11 fantasy, the U.K. government has even admitted to behind the scenes conversations with them for which they have kept secret. So far the pressure clearly hasn’t been enough to prevent a trial but as to the outcome that remains to be seen. Abu Dhabi isn’t going to sit around as one of their most prized assets potentially gets damaged, they will use every trick in the book.

Hopefully they do get proper punishment as the array of charges is a stain on the game but if they do there will certainly be diplomatic fallout.

You're dead right there, and currently relations are fragile. I have a little more confidence in Starmer than the last lot to stand up to the economic risks to UK of serious punishment.

I think they will be found guilty, docked 50 points but will not be stripped of historical honors.

50 wouldn’t even be enough if found guilty of everything. They will just bounce straight back.

4th tier like Rangers. Anything else would be a travesty.

Should think UEFA will be looking at the verdicts with interest , not sure what the legalities of it are but the PL have charged City with breaking UEFA rules so could the two year CL ban be restored ? Have to assume that the PL have more evidence than UEFA put before CAS.

  • Five charges relate to failing to comply with UEFA's rules including FFP between 2013/14 and 2017/18

Totally agree, the SFA had the balls to do it to one of their biggest assets which was ultimately to the detriment of the Scottish league but it had to be done, just like how the RFU absolutely clobbered Saracens with a points deduction that meant they would go down.

Maybe this is something the EPL need to work closely with UEFA on, relegation to league two whilst not taking any titles off them but UEFA then strip them of their CL wins.
Takes a bit of heat off the EPL as well for when they try to fight any punishments as they’ll also be going against UEFA.
It’s got to be a united front from both organisations to show that what they’ve done is not acceptable and enough of a deterrent to stop any other club thinking about doing it again.

But their champions league win was after the breaches so you can’t take them

Pep doing his best “I think we’re onto a winner here Trig. Play it nice and cool son, know what I mean” impression.

Booooo, who’s side you on?!🤣
Two year ban from Europe then, UEFA have banned clubs for worse
But you can’t just strip titles relating to the offence? Sure, Ban them now but you also have to follow some semblance of a fair trial. Even if they stripped their prem titles they’ll still have the 4 in a row

Re the PL charges on the breaking of UEFA rules they include season 2013/14 which was time barred in the CAS appeal and also later seasons which were cleared by CAS , you have to wonder what extra evidence the PL have.
Also assume this sentence in the CAS ruling means UEFA can charge City again if new evidence is found or the Independent Commision find that City did break UEFA rules.

Oh what a surprise, keep your noses in the trough you absolutely bell ends
Thanks for that. Good to see the comments at the end of the article about the govt pushing ahead and hopefully not succumbing to scare stories. English footy is a national treasure and heritage issue and should have oversight that helps communities preserve what they love. The idea that uefa and fifa are in any position to lecture about interference or good governance is a complete fucking joke.

Well that clears up all the speculation that the UK government and Abu Dhabi government will interfer with the Independent Commission verdict on Man City , any political interference and both England and Abu Dhabi will be banned from international football. :)

Rangers tried to fuck the tax man, not a similar situation.
