I don’t want Arsenal to win the league but would be nice if City got the book thrown at them this season. Wipe peps smarmy grin off his face.

Expulsion from the league would just have them create the super league taking all the American owned clubs with em.

weren’t they also using their political power to get out of this over inferstructure in England? I don’t know the ins and outs of it but I just feel like this is going to end with all charges being dropped
I’m a bit late responding to this but the Football Governance Bill that will be introduced in the Autumn will flat out stop clubs from setting up their own closed entry competitions. The existing pyramid will be protected and preserved.

I'd never want those lot to win the league but it would be funny that if they were to win it that it would be the season that City got points deducted. There'd be an asterisk next to the win :ROFLMAO:

Interesting take from Pep on the window and not replacing Haaland.

Ofc they have tons of quality in their squad but it does seem like they'll be a tad light up top especially if Haaland gets injured but I suppose this is something Ange will be battling with too, a balance between giving enough players enough minutes/squad harmony vs enough quality in the squad to cover if/when injuries and suspensions occur.

IF Chelsea sign Osenhim and/or Sancho sure they'll struggle to keep those players happy, unless I suppose they will just play a 2nd XI in the conference league each week to share the minute about which is plausable.

Guardiola said: "I am happy with the squad. Of course, if we have many injuries it could be a problem. But hopefully in two, three months, we will have Oscar [Bobb] back. And we can have Phil [Foden] in that position, [James] McAtee can play in that position, [Ilkay] Gundogan can play in that position...these are different types of players to Erling [Haaland], of course.

"Maybe it is a mistake, I don't know, but I like to work with not a long, long squad. I don't like to leave a lot of players without playing for a long time. If we have a long squad with no injuries, that could be 10 months without playing and I don't like it."

On whether he could have rushed through signing an Alvarez replacement, he added: "When you are not sure [about a player] it is better to wait. In winter we have another chance, so if I am not convinced then it is better not to take that step."

Pertinent line that it seems we're adhering to ourselves now instead of saddling ourselves with players that are going to be difficult to get move on at a later date.

I’m totally skeptical of any big punishment, as if it’s as bad as it looks for them, then all the titles are questionable (they already are) but a punishment would rubber stamp that in the eyes of everyone, it would also be a total and utter embarrassment for the Premier League. Basically that titles were purchased as the level of financial doping is vast.

Whilst im glad they are looking to move things forward, i wouldve preferred it to be done in the closed season.

Been happening for 20 years. City won’t get punished, they will have a highly successful legal team which will have found some loophole.
Whatever, the outcome, the integrity of the premier league will be tarnished

PL tarnished and competitive football finished if Man City get away with it.

All the conspiracy theories that the UAE or Abu Dhabi government would put pressure on the UK government to pressurise the PL to drop the case against City have all come to nothing.

We now go into an estimated 10 weeks of legal argument with the three person Independent Commission sitting in secret to hear arguments from both sides and going by previous commissions Everton, Forest and Leicester they will be leak proof.

Even if City get off with the more serious charges, pretty sure as with the CAS case they are going to be found guilty of obstructing the enquiry , they tried it back in 2021 and lost a case in the High Court which is bound to be referred to by the PL lawyers when presenting their case to the commission.
35 charges of obstruction so there could be a massive fine , also as in the UEFA case the commission may have the power to instruct City to pay a large part on the PL's legal costs for their delaying tactics.

In July 2021 there was a dramatic glimpse of it, when a High Court judge revealed that the Premier League had effectively accused City of delay tactics by failing to agree to hand over documents, ordering the club to do so.

A massive fine is not a punishment for a team owned by Abu Dhabi, a billion even would be pocket change. The isn’t a ‘conspiracy’ theory like some 9/11 fantasy, the U.K. government has even admitted to behind the scenes conversations with them for which they have kept secret. So far the pressure clearly hasn’t been enough to prevent a trial but as to the outcome that remains to be seen. Abu Dhabi isn’t going to sit around as one of their most prized assets potentially gets damaged, they will use every trick in the book.

Hopefully they do get proper punishment as the array of charges is a stain on the game but if they do there will certainly be diplomatic fallout.

Probably a stupid question but did I read somewhere that they cannot appeal the outcome like they could vs the UEFA one?

Any fines would have to be shown in the next City accounts, so it's not as simple for Abu Dhabi to pay it off if there was a massive fine. If it is that simple to push money through a football club why haven't the Saudi's done it at Newcastle , many were saying how Newcastle would smash the transfer market with massive signings , it hasn't happened.
The verdict is now in the hands of the three person panel one of whom has to be of KC level or maybe even an ex high court judge so any government interference will have to go through them and that is highly unlikely as fortunately UK judiciary & barristers are not afraid of the UK government.

They can appeal but it doesn't go to CAS , it has to go through an independent appeals panel appointed by Murray Rosen KC who is in charge of PL independent commissions.

Equally, should the PL lose then I assume they have the same limited appeal process available to them too?

Yes it does look like it from the PL rulebook the PL could appeal , both sides can appeal a desicion , it goes to the appeals panel and their verdict is binding, no more appeals.
