Even if he was to be given the max ban of 4 years, he'd have like ten years left on his contract when back.

If he gets a lengthy ban Chelsea will luck out and find a way to cancel his contract I bet. They're so fucking jammy.

They may be in a sticky situation where because of FFP they might not be able to afford to cancel his contract.

He cost almost £90m so probably £60m to £70m still to be amortised.

Cancelling his contract would mean taking that as an instant hit to their P&L which could leave them in the shit. It would certainly hurt them that’s for sure.

Possibly the same substance that Sharipova got banned for. Who knows at this stage. Just a pity he's not a crucial on field player for them really.

I doubt it, knowing them they'll end up suing him for the transfer fee paid and any fee they would have got had they sold him. They'll come out ahead, they always do.

Chelsea made it pretty clear clear they didn’t want Chalobah along with Gallagher in the summer and treated both of them quite badly.

And now they just recall him as now they need him (although I think I read he was quite happy at Palace).

They really know how to treat players at chelsea!
At least the money takes some of sting out of the pain.

Ahhhh financial punishments for financial crimes, it's like drowning a fish or throwing a bird out of a plane without a parachute.

I wonder how much each point deduction saved will cost. Organise a whip round or start a go fund me Levy and we can still win the title

I can't believe this isn't being talked about more.

You can't give a financial punishment to discipline financial irregularities. There need to be sporting sanctions.

I understand the mitigating circumstances that the new ownership weren't responsible and they voluntarily came forward with the information about the previous ownership. Ok, if we're being reasonable that means that the club under the current ownership shouldn't face as much of a punishment, ie. the number of points deducted now. However the reasonable thing to do is give a retrospective sporting punishment during the time of the offences.

What happens when an athlete wins a race and then fails the drugs test? They lose the medal. The first thing they need to take away all silverware that Chelsea won during the time they were cheating. They literally cheated on their way to their success. Take that success away, they haven't earned it.

I'm trying to say that from an unbiased perspective, however Chelsea's cheating may well be the difference between us winning the title in 2016/2017 when we came second behind them.

Was at their game last night (old man is a Chelsea fan) and we really live rent fee in their head. In pub before and after game and also in the ground singing we hate Tottenham. For a club that other fans say doesn't matter, we do seem to get sung about by a lot of clubs

I think a rival that you routinely finish above has to be the most comfortable type of rival to have? Chelsea and Arsenal have the track record (unfortunately) to back this up.

Makes West Ham even weirder.
