Whether you are right or not doesn't qualify why he was playing in the position he doesn't play.

He wasn't playing as a goalie. Why is it so outlandish for him to play on the opposite flank to the one he mostly played last year. He wasn't a left winger either until relatively recently. The point is he's not much good as an attacker, regardless of where in the attack he plays.

The point is that if we brought him on to make an impact and get back on top in the game so why put him where that is even less likely? It's not like our left winger was pulling up any trees by that time is it?

Looking back on it, trying to remove any knee-jerk reactions I thought it was a good (not great) performance but frustrating result.

We showed clear positive play with high intensity levels but never created what you’d call clear cut chances (shows with low value xG on all our chances).

The reaction across Twitter from some is nothing short of pathetic. How people can watch that game, hear the post match interviews and be angry at the players / calling for Ange to go is shocking.

First half very good, guilty of over playing at times, and a clear lack of killer instinct. We were too comfortable dominating without scoring. Not enough cut-throatedness from our forwards. Subs came too late in the second half, but I think more than enough really positive signs.

As always, there's a lot of negativity in a match thread but I didn't think we played badly at all.
Our wide players were frustrating though and didn't really provide any sort of threat.

Disappointed that we didn't get the win but it's early doors.

By far the worst part for me yesterday was walking to my block (as a very visibly queer person) and having to go through the crowd doing this chant. Was genuinely worried about it being sung if he'd scored and it made me enjoy the game much less. Just really, really uncomfortable to be around.

He's just not much of an impact player, regardless of who he's replacing. He'll get the odd goal and assist. But I don't think he was worth re-hiring when you consider a killer instinct and clinical finishing is what's needed. He's the opposite of that in many ways.

Same issues as last season, have to hope our attacking signings fix this, or we’re screwed.

Problem is we have only bought potential. And this year none of Gray, Bergval. Will improve us much although looks great for the future. Our discipline in defending is still the same and Odobert is also a huge “Maybe” signing in my opinion. We really need a quality right winger that takes defenders on constantly. Brennan is way to afraid to use his speed to go past people and it winds me up.

I'd be more concerned if we weren't creating anything. I thought up until the Vardy goal we were well on top and in control. Then Vardy scores, the home players and crowd gets a lift and gains momentum. Then Bentancur got injured that pause may have actually helped us in that sense along with the subs to regain some control.

The reaction from some out there is like we lost and were well beaten or something. We just didn't take our chances and Leicester took their first real proper chance.

I take more positives from the match than negatives, it's just the negatives are the same as the worst parts of last season.

There will be growing pains, developing a young team will take time and the biggest one for me is ruthlessness. We worked so hard to get that first goal and as soon as we did we got comfortable, exactly what we did at home against West Ham and Villa last season.

I want killers on my team. I want them to see blood and be absolute savages and we don't have that. And you can't coach that. Players have it or they don't and we should tweak our recruitment to include this.

Think Solanke was good (should have scored though) and will be good for us this season. I saw Romero and VDV go long a few times in the first half when we baited the press, which I think will be a huge asset against teams that press more frequently / aggressively. His hold up play was quite good.

The Positives:
- We aggressively pressed as a team and won the ball back well
- We fashioned a lot of half chances
- Solanke took up some good positions/linked up well
- Bergvall/Gray got good game time and look great prospects
- Excellent stop from Vicario on Goblins 2nd shot

The Negatives:
- We are all over the shop on the 2nd phase of play when defending, as if the initial half-clearance is job done
- Both wingers very poor and never carried the threat of going on the outside. Even if it doesn't come off, it's still worth trying as keeps the full backs guessing.
Johnson has the pace to do it, so very odd why he doesn't believe in himself to beat the man.
- We cannot fail to capitalise on that much possession. I'm confident Solanke will come good, if he keeps taking up good positions.
- We again seem scared to shoot from outside the box, we need to mix it up.
- Vicario seemed OTT with Bergvall, but on reflection I'm fine with this if consistent. Would he do this to Romero (who warrants it at times)?

It’s crazy because if you hear the way we’re all excited about our signings this year and then watch the games, the difference in attitude is mad.

we haven’t got players that hve come in and raised the bar.

every player we’ve bought will hopefully come good and we need to be patient.

we’re suffering on the pitch because of that.

My take from last night is that Martin Tyler still despises us and was itching for Leicester to score all evening. Such biased comms from him.

Other than that, same old Spurs. Slick passing, trying to score the perfect goal and a brain fart at the other end. Just wish someone would have a pop from outside the area, the way the pitch was slick etc.

Was Vardy's wife over there last night, as a particluar song was being sung very loudly. Perhaps thats why he left the pitch doing his nut......

I am surprised to see people give Vicario stick for bollocking Bergvall. This is what we all want from our keepers right? Like as been said, so long as he is consistent.

Bergvall looked really good when he came on and I can't wait to see him play again, but he will have to learn very very quickly when / where he can and can't take risks with the ball in the Premier League. I have zero issues with it at all. I'm sure they were pals after.

On reflection, what worries me the most about last night is not that we spurned chances, it was more how we just completely mentally collapsed when they scored. It happened at times last season. We just completely lose control of a game that was so so comfortable.

You can miss chances, you can have bad days when the ball won't go in, all of that. But I'm really concerned by how mentally fragile we look when the slightest thing goes against us.

It isn't kneejerk to say I think we haven't actually improved the 11 this season. I can't see us having the same start as last year., so what can we hope for beyond 5/6th realistically? I'd be happy with a massive focus on all cup competitions this season.

One other thing. I used to, but I just can't hate Vardy anymore. You have to respect him. He's a throwback and more often than not gets the last laugh. He's just a normal lad who has absolutely made it big time, earned it, and turned up when it matters. I love his attitude.

I believe the team generally played well with high energy. The main issue for me was having so much possession and passes within their box and not increasing the lead. I think it's nieve to think the opposition won't create any chances or have a good period within the match, which Leicester did after their goal which was disappointingly gifted to them by leaving Vardy unmarked.
I do feel the side is unbalanced where the majority of our attack is down the left side. Udogie, Van de Ven, Son and Maddison all link with quick passes and create numerous chances. We just don't see that down the right with Romero, Porro, Sarr and Johnson. The passing seems slower and Romero rarely passes to Johnson even when he has plenty of space. I think Bergvall may improve this and a winger who the rest of the side have confidence in.
Let's hope we can maintain the performance for a bit longer v Everton and utilise the subs quicker when needed.

See I actually think the issue around spurned chances is why we look mentally fragile when it then goes against us. We were so dominant, and then end up on the back foot, and that rocks us mentally. If we score the goals when we're that dominant the latter just does not happen.

Been thinking about this - did we just tire ourselves out last night? We were running around like crazy people, hoarding the ball, while they were just sitting back.

There was such a drop off, I do wonder if some of it was fatigue

I see a lot of praise for Bentancur before he got injured, and, to be fair, Alan Smith said it on comms too. I wasn't that impressed. Leicester chose not to press him, so he had bundles of time on the ball. He had countless opportunities to break lines with punched passes, but kept it very safe, despite extended time on the ball.
