I thought we were fine. Not great, not too bad. Felt it was calmer than what we saw last season. Still need that hard bastard in the middle to stem the wave when

it inevitably happens. Honestly think Gomes can be it. Thought kids looked comfortable when they came on. It was more measured than what we saw last which for me is progression. 6/10.
Are you messing? We were playing Leicester who were absolutely awful. We created nothing after we conceded against a newly promoted side with 30 mins left. This happens far too often for Spurs. Terrible performance and same issues for the past 12 months

A point away, first game of the season, and players to bed in.

Move on, thirty seven more games to look forward to.

Yeah I think we've massively stuffed up getting Werner in.

Because we haven't been able to sell Richy, we've now got several players in the Frontline and none are in that class of potentially yhe league's best.

Odobert may add that element of surprise but we could easily have signed him in July and then waited for. another quality addition (Chiesa).

Now we have shot ourselves and are essentially hoping Son picks his level up.

By the way, when Son cut in in the first half, he'd have curled that in 2 seasons back.

It was very frustrating and we should have won but we need to consider that for the likes of Romero, VDV, Udogie and Bentancur it was really their first minutes of the season. Plus Solanke has barely been here five minutes.

If they hadn’t have hit us with that sucker punch we’d be purring about some of the football we played first half.

Keep the faith.
It was everybody’s first minutes of season. Romero ran past Vardy and left him unmarked for the goal? Bad mistake. I’ve seen that match before, about 100 times.
i think after a few games that we will realise that the 2 18 yr olds are better than the others.
If you want someone for the last 20 minutes on the right don’t tell me that Werner is the best bet, Mikey Moore all say long.
I wish I was Werner. 100k plus for doing not very much.
Speaking to a friend today, I am normally optimistic but I wasn’t too optimistic about the game tonight. Mainly because of the 2 games v Bayern we were totally outclassed in first half if both games.
We played a very poor team tonight . They will go down.
2 points dropped

More than anything I just think that we need to mix it up a bit more against this kind of defensive setup. We put enough balls into the right areas to blow them away in this match, they just didn't get a clear shot off or were at the keeper. For me the wingers aren't the problem in that respect.

We could instead imo do with some spontaneous long shots every few possessions to at least create some kind of uncertainty so that we're not just plugging down the same hole over and over. You can have the best winger in the world but if you're just doing what's expected literally every possession then it becomes easier every repetition to defend. We have elite talent at long shots (Son, Maddison, Porro...). We have to give them a license imo. Especially Son who is very genuinely among the world's best at this. It breaks be heart to see him cut inside and then try to play a short through ball to someone running on his outside. Fuck that. Hit it my Son.

If they're worried about the long shots they're not sitting in so rigidly.

My one crumb of comfort is i remember us having a stinking start to Pochettino's second season, drawing at home to Stoke after being 2 nil up in the second game. Had many of the same thoughts after that game as today, havent learnt anything from the previous season etc. But we ended up having a great season so here's hoping its the same again.

I agree but I'll give benefit of the doubt for a couple of weeks. 2 Points dropped like confetti (2nd half) but not terminal. Let this play out.

Agree. The worrying thing is that we're signing average players for lots of money Johnson and Solanke are middle of the road prem players (£100m+). Werner is too. (Albeit a loan). I would much rather one top quality player for that outlay.

We need to act like a big boy team

If you do not want to go next time let me know. I never get tickets for away games despite being a long standing season ticket holder.

I get the frustration, but that is what being a football fan is like sometimes. The first half was not as you described but we were wasteful. Second half we gave a goal away and lost momentum, but still had chances.

Ref only adding 9 minutes when there was a 8 minute 30 seconds stoppage, plus a goal, plus lots of subs, plus lots of Leicester time wasting, is a disgrace. He then added nothing to the nine despite more subs and blatant time wasting. It may or may not made a difference to the result but the continued incompetence of referees is really getting to me now. We know other teams on different days we not be treated like this. We never seems to get much go our way from officials, and it has been like that for many years so I do not believe these things even themselves out.

Many of you will not care about my view on referees, preferring to abuse your own club every time we lose or draw, even after just one game of the new season. You pay your money so of course entitled to an opinion, but maybe consider that sometimes as supporters we get what we deserve.
I live in Florida mate. The game was on at 3pm over here.

I ask one thing of my beloved Tottenham before I push the daisies up. For Christ's sake please put two decent halves together in the same match.

A dissapointing and frustrating result, but lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Long season ahead, no team or player has ever been defined by a season opener.

We just love to snatch what feels like defeat from the jaws of victory. Embarasssing to concede a goal like that but Richarlison should have won it at the end. I'm sure Solanke will find his groove on his home debut but this should have been comfortable and again we bodged it. Great to see Bergvall, Gray and Kulusevski causing problems too. Need to beat Everton next up

I forgot bin day last week and am stuck with a black bin 3 weeks old until Wednesday week. And you've chosen tonight to bring bins up of all nights? Thanks for that :arghh:

Watched back at the highlights again, it’s not our performance, ability or that shit it’s our attitude. I fucking hate Vardy but my god I wish some of our players had his attitude. He fucking loved that today.

The biggest plus for me was being able to bring on players to wrestle control back.
We finally showed we had some depth with Gray, Bergvall, Spence, Kulu, and Richy coming on and getting us back into it.

The biggest minus is exactly what everyone else is saying, a lack of technical ability, guile, quality etc out wide.
We need to forget about every other position and get some quality width in.
We’ve had all summer and signed one young teenage hopeful moneyball levy signing from Burnley. Wake up and the smell the quarter of a century old coffee… it ain’t happening

we said this at the time the loan is renewed, was a sign of the actual ambition. It dishy raise the level enough to go and challenge for title. The only way that happens is that somehow Moore is actually a world beater
